1 Then came near the daughters of Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh pertaining to the families of Manasseh, son of Joseph,these being the names of his daughters, Mahlah Noah and Hoglah and Milcah, and Tirzah.
1 Certo dia, Maala, Noa, Hogla, Milca e Tirza, as filhas de Zelofeade, fizeram uma petição. Seu pai pertencia a um dos clãs de Manassés, pois era descendente de Héfer, filho de Gileade, filho de Maquir, filho de Manassés, filho de José.
2 So they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the assembly,at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying:
2 Essas mulheres se apresentaram diante de Moisés, do sacerdote Eleazar, dos líderes das tribos e de toda a comunidade à entrada da tenda do encontro e disseram:
3 Our father, died in the desert, although, he, was not among the assembly that conspired against Yahweh, in the assembly of Korah,but, in his own sin, died he; and sons, had he none.
3 “Nosso pai morreu no deserto. Não era um dos seguidores de Corá, que se rebelaram contra o S enhor , mas morreu por causa do seu próprio pecado e não teve filhos.
4 Wherefore should the name of our father be withdrawn out of the midst of his family, because he had no son? Give ye unto us a possession, ill the midst of the brethren of our father.
4 Por que o nome de nosso pai deveria desaparecer de seu clã só porque ele não teve filhos? Dê-nos uma propriedade entre o restante de nossos parentes”.
5 And Moses brought near their cause before Yahweh.
5 Moisés levou o caso ao S enhor ,
6 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
6 e o S enhor respondeu a Moisés:
7 A right thing, are the daughters of Zelophehad speaking: Thou shalt, surely give, them a possession for an inheritance, in the midst of the brethren of their father,and shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass over unto them.
7 “A reivindicação das filhas de Zelofeade é justa. Dê a elas uma porção de terra entre os parentes de seu pai, a herança que teria sido entregue a seu pai.
8 And unto the sons of Israel, shalt thou speak, saying,When, any man, shall die, having no son, then shall ye cause his inheritance to pass over to his daughter.
8 “Dê as seguintes instruções ao povo de Israel. Se um homem morrer e não deixar filhos, passem a herança às filhas.
9 And, if he hath no daughter, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his, brethren.
9 Se ele também não tiver filhas, transfiram a herança aos irmãos dele.
10 And if he hath no brethren, then shall ye give his inheritance unto the brethren of his father.
10 Se ele não tiver irmãos, deem a herança aos irmãos do pai dele.
11 And, if his father hath no brethren, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his blood-relation that is near unto him of his family, and he shall possess it,So shall it serve the sons of Israel as a regulative statute, As Yahweh commanded Moses.
11 Se seu pai não tiver irmãos, deem a herança ao parente mais próximo de seu clã. Essa é uma prescrição definitiva para os israelitas, conforme o S enhor ordenou a Moisés”.
12 And Yahweh said unto Moses, Go up into this mount of Abarim,and see, the and which I have given unto the son of Israel;
12 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Suba a um dos montes de Abarim e olhe para a terra que dou ao povo de Israel.
13 And, when thou hast seen it, then shalt thou also be withdrawn unto thy kinsfolk,as Aaron thy brother was withdrawn;
13 Depois de vê-la, você será reunido a seu povo, como seu irmão Arão,
14 because ye resisted my biddingin the desert of Zin when the assembly contended,that ye should hallow me regarding the waters, before their eyes,the same, were the waters of Meribah, of Kadesh in the desert of Zin.
14 pois vocês desobedeceram às minhas instruções no deserto de Zim. Quando a comunidade se rebelou, vocês não demonstraram minha santidade para eles junto às águas”. (Essas águas são as de Meribá, em Cades, no deserto de Zim.)
15 Then spake Moses unto Yahweh saying:
15 Então Moisés disse ao S enhor :
16 Let Yahweh, God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the assembly;
16 “S enhor , tu és o Deus que dá fôlego a todas as criaturas. Por favor, indica um homem para ser o novo líder da comunidade.
17 who may go out before them and who may come in before them, and who may take-them out and who may bring them in,that the assembly of Yahweh become not as sheep that have no shepherd.
17 Dá a eles alguém que os guie aonde quer que forem e os conduza nas batalhas, para que a comunidade do S enhor não seja como ovelhas sem pastor”.
18 And Yahweh said unto Moses: Take thee Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is spirit,then shalt thou lean thy hand upon him;
18 O S enhor respondeu: “Convoque Josué, filho de Num, em quem está o Espírito, e coloque as mãos sobre ele.
19 and shalt cause him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the assembly,and shalt charge him before their eyes;
19 Apresente-o ao sacerdote Eleazar diante de toda a comunidade e encarregue-o publicamente de liderar.
20 and shalt put some of thine honour upon him,that all the assembly of the sons of Israel may hearken.
20 Transfira a ele parte de sua autoridade, para que toda a comunidade de Israel lhe obedeça.
21 And, before Eleazar the priest, shall he stand, and shall ask by him for the decision of the Lights, before Yahweh,at the bidding thereof, shall they go out, and at the bidding thereof, shall they come inhe, and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the assembly.
21 Quando for necessário receber orientação do S enhor , Josué se apresentará diante do sacerdote Eleazar, que usará o Urim perante o S enhor para determinar sua vontade. É pela palavra de Eleazar que Josué e toda a comunidade de Israel decidirão tudo que devem fazer”.
22 And Moses did Yahweh commanded him,and took Joshua, and caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the assembly;
22 Moisés fez o que o S enhor ordenou. Apresentou Josué ao sacerdote Eleazar e a toda a comunidade,
23 and leaned his hands upon him and charged him,As Yahweh spake by the hand of Moses.
23 colocou as mãos sobre ele e o encarregou de liderar o povo, exatamente como o S enhor havia ordenado por meio de Moisés.
