1 Now, much cattle, had come into the possession of the sons of Reuben and of the sons of Gad, an exceeding mighty number. And when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, lo! the place, was a place for cattle.
1 Os filhos de Rúben e os filhos de Gade tinham gado em muitíssima quantidade; e viram a terra de Jazer e a terra de Gileade, e eis que o lugar era lugar de gado.
2 So the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came in,and spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of assembly, saying,
2 Vieram, pois, os filhos de Gade e os filhos de Rúben e falaram a Moisés, e ao sacerdote Eleazar, e aos príncipes da congregação, dizendo:
3 As touching Atroth and Dibon, and Jazer and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh,and Sebam and Nebo, and Beon-
3 Atarote, Dibom, Jazer, Ninra, Hesbom, Eleale, Sebã, Nebo e Beom,
4 the land which Yahweh smote before the assembly of Israel, a land for cattle, it is,and, thy servants, have cattle.
4 a terra que o Senhor feriu diante da congregação de Israel é terra de gado; e os teus servos têm gado.
5 And they saidIf we have found favour in thine eyes, let this land he given unto thy servants, for a possession,do not take us over the Jordan.
5 Disseram mais: Se achamos mercê aos teus olhos, dê-se esta terra em possessão aos teus servos; e não nos faças passar o Jordão.
6 Then said Moses unto the sons of Gad and unto the sons of Reuben,Shall, your brethren, go into the war, and ye, settle down here?
6 Porém Moisés disse aos filhos de Gade e aos filhos de Rúben: Irão vossos irmãos à guerra, e ficareis vós aqui?
7 Wherefore, then, should ye dissuade the heart of the sons of Israel, from passing over into the land which Yahweh hath given to them?
7 Por que, pois, desanimais o coração dos filhos de Israel, para que não passem à terra que o Senhor lhes deu?
8 Thus, did your fathers,when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea, to view the land,
8 Assim fizeram vossos pais, quando os enviei de Cades-Barneia a ver esta terra.
9 and they went up as far as the ravine of Eschol, and viewed the land, and then dissuaded the heart of the sons of Israel from entering into the land, which Yahweh had given them.
9 Chegando eles até ao vale de Escol e vendo a terra, descorajaram o coração dos filhos de Israel, para que não viessem à terra que o Senhor lhes tinha dado.
10 Then was the anger of Yahweh kindled on that day,and he aware, saying:
10 Então, a ira do Senhor se acendeu naquele mesmo dia, e jurou, dizendo:
11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt from twenty years old and upwards, shall see the soil, which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac and unto Jacob, because they have not followed after me fully;
11 Certamente, os varões que subiram do Egito, de vinte anos para cima, não verão a terra que prometi com juramento a Abraão, a Isaque e a Jacó, porquanto não perseveraram em seguir-me,
12 save Caleb son of Jephunneh, the Kenezite, and Joshua, son of Nun,for they followed after Yahweh, fully.
12 exceto Calebe, filho de Jefoné, o quenezeu, e Josué, filho de Num, porque perseveraram em seguir ao Senhor .
13 So the anger of Yahweh kindled upon Israel, and he made them wander in the desert, forty years,until all the generation who had done the evil in the eyes of Yahweh, had wasted away!
13 Pelo que se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra Israel, e fê-los andar errantes pelo deserto quarenta anos, até que se consumiu toda a geração que procedera mal perante o Senhor .
14 Lo! therefore, ye have arisen in the room of your fathers, brood of sinful men,to heap up yet more upon the heat of the anger of Yahweh, towards Israel.
14 Eis que vós, raça de homens pecadores, vos levantastes em lugar de vossos pais, para aumentardes ainda o furor da ira do Senhor contra Israel.
15 If ye do turn away from following him, then will he yet again leave them behind in the desert,so shall ye bring destruction upon all this people.
15 Se não quiserdes segui-lo, também ele deixará todo o povo, novamente, no deserto, e sereis a sua ruína.
16 Then came they near unto him, and said, Folds, for flocks, would we build for our cattle, here,and cities for our little ones;
16 Então, se chegaram a ele e disseram: Edificaremos currais aqui para o nosso gado e cidades para as nossas crianças;
17 but, we, would arm ourselves promptly, before the sons of Israel, until that we have brought them into their place,so should our little ones remain in the fortified cities, because of the inhabitants of the land.
17 porém nós nos armaremos, apressando-nos adiante dos filhos de Israel, até que os levemos ao seu lugar; e ficarão as nossas crianças nas cidades fortes, por causa dos moradores da terra.
18 We would not return unto our houses,until the sons of Israel have possessed themselves each man, of his inheritance.
18 Não voltaremos para nossa casa até que os filhos de Israel estejam de posse, cada um, da sua herança.
19 For we would not inherit with them, over the Jordan, and onwards,because our inheritance hath come unto us on this side the Jordan towards sunrise.
19 Porque não herdaremos com eles do outro lado do Jordão, nem mais adiante, porquanto já temos a nossa herança deste lado do Jordão, ao oriente.
20 And Moses said unto them, If ye will indeed do this thing,if ye will arm yourselves, before Yahweh, for the war;
20 Então, Moisés lhes disse: Se isto fizerdes assim, se vos armardes para a guerra perante o Senhor ,
21 and every armed man of you pass over the Jordan before Yahweh,until he hath dispossessed his enemies, from before him;
21 e cada um de vós, armado, passar o Jordão perante o Senhor , até que haja lançado fora os seus inimigos de diante dele,
22 and the land be subdued before Yahweh then afterwards, shall ye return, and shall be acquitted by Yahweh and by Israel,and this land shall be yours for a possession before Yahweh.
22 e a terra estiver subjugada perante o Senhor , então, voltareis e sereis desobrigados perante o Senhor e perante Israel; e a terra vos será por possessão perante o Senhor .
23 But, if ye shall not do this, lo! ye will have sinned against Yahweh,and take note of your sin, that it will find you out.
23 Porém, se não fizerdes assim, eis que pecastes contra o Senhor ; e sabei que o vosso pecado vos há de achar.
24 Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your flocks,and then that which hath gone forth from your mouth, ye shall do.
24 Edificai vós cidades para as vossas crianças e currais para as vossas ovelhas; e cumpri o que haveis prometido.
25 Then spake the sons of Gad, and the sons of Reuben unto Moses, saying,thy servants, will do, as, my lord, is giving command.
25 Então, os filhos de Gade e os filhos de Rúben falaram a Moisés, dizendo: Como ordena meu senhor, assim farão teus servos.
26 Our little ones, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts, shall remain there in the cities of Gilead;
26 Nossas crianças, nossas mulheres, nossos rebanhos e todos os nossos animais estarão aí nas cidades de Gileade,
27 and thy servants, will pass over every one armed for war, before Yahweh to battle,as, my lord is speaking.
27 mas os teus servos passarão, cada um armado para a guerra, perante o Senhor , como diz meu senhor.
28 So Moses gave command concerning them, unto Eleazar the priest and unto Joshua son of Nun, and unto the headset the fathers of the tribes, of the sons of Israel;
28 Então, Moisés deu ordem a respeito deles a Eleazar, o sacerdote, e a Josué, filho de Num, e aos cabeças das casas dos pais das tribos dos filhos de Israel;
29 and Moses said unto themIf the sons of Gad and the son of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every one armed for the war before Yahweh, and the land be subdued before you, then shall ye give unto them the land of Gilead, for a possession.
29 e disse-lhes: Se os filhos de Gade e os filhos de Rúben passarem convosco o Jordão, armado cada um para a guerra, perante o Senhor , e a terra estiver subjugada diante de vós, então, lhes dareis em possessão a terra de Gileade;
30 But, if they will not pass over armed, with you, then shall they accept a possession in your midst, in the land of Canaan.
30 porém, se não passarem, armados, convosco, terão possessões entre vós na terra de Canaã.
31 Then responded the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, saying,That which Yahweh had spoken unto thy servants, so, will we do.
31 Responderam os filhos de Gade e os filhos de Rúben, dizendo: O que o Senhor disse a teus servos, isso faremos.
32 We, will pass over armed, before Yahweh into the land of Canaan,then shall be ours, the possession of our inheritance across the Jordan.
32 Passaremos, armados, perante o Senhor à terra de Canaã e teremos a possessão de nossa herança deste lado do Jordão.
33 So then Moses gave unto them even unto the sons of Gad and unto the sons of Reuben and unto the half tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, the king of Bashan, the land by her cities with boundaries, even the cities of the land round about.
33 Deu Moisés aos filhos de Gade, e aos filhos de Rúben, e à meia tribo de Manassés, filho de José, o reino de Seom, rei dos amorreus, e o reino de Ogue, rei de Basã: a terra com as cidades e seus distritos, as cidades em toda a extensão do país.
34 And the sons of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth,and Aroer;
34 Os filhos de Gade edificaram Dibom, Atarote e Aroer;
35 and Atroth-shophan and Jazer, and Jogbehah;
35 Atarote-Sofã, Jazer e Jogbeá;
36 and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran,fortified cities and folds for flocks.
36 Bete-Ninra e Bete-Harã, cidades fortificadas, e currais de ovelhas.
37 And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh,and Kiriathaim,
37 Os filhos de Rúben edificaram Hesbom, Eleale e Quiriataim;
38 and Nebo and Baal-meontheir names being changed, and Sibmah,and they gave names to the cities which they built.
38 Nebo e Baal-Meom, mudando-lhes o nome, e Sibma; e deram outros nomes às cidades que edificaram.
39 Then went the sons of Machir son of Manasseh to Gilead, and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein,
39 Os filhos de Maquir, filho de Manassés, foram-se para Gileade, e a tomaram, e desapossaram os amorreus que estavam nela.
40 So Moses gave Gilead unto Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwelt therein.
40 Deu, pois, Moisés Gileade a Maquir, filho de Manassés, o qual habitou nela.
41 And Jair, son of Manasseh, went, and captured their encampments,and called them Havvoth-jair. \fs15
41 Foi Jair, filho de Manassés, e tomou as suas aldeias; e chamou-lhes Havote-Jair.
42 And, Nobah, went, and captured Kenath, with the villages thereof,and called it Nobah, after his own name.
42 Foi Noba e tomou a Quenate com as suas aldeias; e chamou-lhe Noba, segundo o seu nome.
