1 And when Balaam saw that it was good in the eyes of Yahweh to bless Israel, he went not as at other times to invoke enchantments,but set towards the desert, his face.
1 Quando Balaão percebeu que o S enhor se agradava de abençoar Israel, não recorreu à adivinhação como antes. Em vez disso, voltou-se em direção ao deserto,
2 So Balaam lifted up his eyes and saw Israel, dwelling, according to his tribes,then came upon him the Spirit of God;
2 onde viu o povo de Israel acampado de acordo com suas tribos. Então o Espírito de Deus veio sobre Balaão,
3 and he took up his parable, and said,The oracle of Balaam, son of Beor, Yea the oracle of the man, of opened eye;
3 e ele transmitiu a seguinte mensagem: “Esta é a mensagem de Balaão, filho de Beor, a mensagem do homem cujos olhos veem com clareza,
4 The oracle of one hearing sayings of GOD, Who the sight of the Almighty, receiveth in vision, Who falleth down but hath unveiled eyes:
4 a mensagem daquele que ouve as palavras de Deus, que tem uma visão concedida pelo Todo-poderoso, que se curva com os olhos bem abertos:
5 How pleasing are thy tents, O Jacob,Thy habitations, O Israel:
5 Como são belas suas tendas, ó Jacó! Como são lindas suas moradas, ó Israel!
6 Like ravines extended, Like gardens by a river,Like aloe-trees Yahweh hath planted, Like cedars by waters:
6 Estendem-se diante de mim como palmeiras, como jardins à beira do rio. São como aloés plantados pelo S como cedros junto às águas.
7 He poureth forth water from his buckets, And, his seed, is among many waters,And taller than Agag is his King, And exalted is his kingdom.
7 Águas jorrarão de seus baldes, e suas sementes serão bem regadas. Seu rei será maior que Agague, e seu reino será exaltado.
8 GOD having brought him forth out of Egypt, The very horns of the buffalo, are his,He eateth up nations that assail him And the bones of them, he breaketh And the loins of him, he crusheth:
8 Deus os tirou do Egito; ele é forte como o boi selvagem. Devora todas as nações que se opõem a ele; despedaça seus ossos e com flechas as atravessa.
9 He hath knelthath lain down, Like a strong lion, yea like a lioness, Who shall rouse him up? Such as bless thee are each one blessed, But, such, as curse thee, are each one cursed.
9 Como leão, Israel se agacha e se deita; como a leoa, quem tem coragem de acordá-lo? Sejam abençoados os que o abençoarem e amaldiçoados os que o amaldiçoarem”.
10 Then kindled the anger of Balak against Balaam, and he smote together his hands,and Balak said unto BalaamTo revile my foes, I called thee, And lo! thou hast kept on blessing, these three times.
10 O rei Balaque se enfureceu contra Balaão e, batendo as palmas das mãos, gritou: “Eu o chamei para amaldiçoar meus inimigos; em vez disso, você os abençoou três vezes!
11 Now, therefore, flee thou unto thy place,I said, I will, highly honour, thee; but lo! Yahweh hath kept thee back from honour.
11 Vá embora! Volte para casa! Eu lhe prometi uma grande recompensa, mas o S enhor o impediu de recebê-la!”.
12 And Balaam said unto Balak,Was it not so that even unto thy messengers whom thou didst send unto m, I spake saying-
12 Balaão disse a Balaque: “Você não se lembra do que expliquei a seus mensageiros? Eu lhes avisei:
13 Though Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, yet could I not go beyond the bidding of Yahweh, to, do good or ill, out of my own heart,what Yahweh shall speak, that, must I speak?
13 ‘Mesmo que Balaque me desse seu palácio cheio de prata e ouro, eu não poderia fazer coisa alguma, boa ou má, contra a vontade do S enhor ’! Avisei que só poderia falar aquilo que o S enhor dissesse!
14 Now, therefore, behold me! going to my own people,Come now! let me advise thee, what this people shall do unto thy people in the after-part of the days.
14 Agora, volto para meu povo, mas primeiro lhe direi o que esse povo fará ao seu povo no futuro”.
15 So he took up his parable and said,The oracle of Balaam, son of Beer, Yea the oracle of the man, of opened eye;
15 Balaão transmitiu a seguinte mensagem: “Esta é a mensagem de Balaão, filho de Beor, a mensagem do homem cujos olhos veem com clareza,
16 The oracle of one hearing sayings of GOD, And knowing the knowledge of the Most High,Who the sight of the Almighty, receiveth in vision, Who falleth down but hath unveiled eyes:
16 a mensagem daquele que ouve as palavras de Deus, que possui conhecimento dado pelo Altíssimo, que tem uma visão concedida pelo Todo-poderoso, que se curva com os olhos bem abertos:
17 I see One, who is not now, I observe One, who is not nigh,There hath marched forth a Star out of Jacob. And arisen a Sceptre out of Israel, That hath dishonoured the beard of Mesh, Yea the crown of the head of all the tumultuous;
17 Eu o vejo, mas não agora; eu o avisto, mas não de perto. Uma estrela surgirá de Jacó, um cetro se levantará de Israel. Esmagará a cabeça e rachará o crânio dos descendentes de Sete.
18 So Edom hath become a possession, Yea a possession is Seir to his foes,But, Israel, is doing valiantly;
18 Tomará posse de Edom e conquistará seu inimigo, Seir, enquanto Israel marcha adiante em triunfo.
19 Yea One wieldeth dominion out of Jacob,Who hath destroyed the remnant out of the fortress.
19 De Jacó surgirá um governante que destruirá os sobreviventes de Ar”.
20 And, when he saw Amalek, he took up, his parable, and saidThe beginning of nations,Amalek, But his latter end is even to perish.
20 Então Balaão olhou na direção do povo de Amaleque e transmitiu a seguinte mensagem: “Amaleque era a primeira de todas as nações, mas seu destino é a destruição!”.
21 And when he saw the Kenite, he took up hi parable, and said,Enduring thy dwelling-place, Set thou then in the crag, thy nest;
21 Em seguida, Balaão olhou na direção dos queneus e transmitiu a seguinte mensagem: “Sua habitação é segura; seu ninho está apoiado nas rochas.
22 Yet shall it be for destruction, O Kain,How long shall Assyria hold thee captive?
22 Os queneus, porém, serão destruídos quando Assur os levar prisioneiros”.
23 And he took up his parable, and said,Alas who shall survive its fulfillment by GOD;
23 Balaão concluiu sua mensagem com estas palavras: “Ai! Quem pode sobreviver quando Deus fizer essas coisas?
24 When, ships, from the coast of the isles, And humble Assyria, and humble the Hebrew,And he too, is even to perish?
24 Navios virão do litoral de Chipre, oprimirão Assur e afligirão Héber, mas eles também serão destruídos”.
25 Then Balaam arose, and went and returned unto his place,and, Balak also, went his way.
25 Então Balaão se levantou e voltou para sua terra, e Balaque também seguiu seu caminho.
