1 Then came the sons of Israel the whole assembly, into the desert of Zin in the first month, and the people dwelt in Kadesh,and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
1 Chegando os filhos de Israel, toda a congregação, ao deserto de Zim, no mês primeiro, o povo ficou em Cades; e Miriã morreu ali, e ali foi sepultada.
2 And there was no water for the assembly,so they gathered together against Moses and against Aaron.
2 E não havia água para a congregação; então se reuniram contra Moisés e contra Arão.
3 And the people contended with Moses,and spake saying, Would then we had died a when our brethren died, before Yahweh!
3 E o povo contendeu com Moisés, dizendo: Quem dera tivéssemos perecido quando pereceram nossos irmãos perante o Senhor!
4 Wherefore then hast thou brought the convocation of Yahweh into this desert,to die there, we, and our cattle?
4 E por que trouxestes a congregação do Senhor a este deserto, para que morramos aqui, nós e os nossos animais?
5 And wherefore did ye cause us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us into this wretched place?not a place of seeds, and figs, and vines and pomegranates, even water, is there none to drink.
5 E por que nos fizestes subir do Egito, para nos trazer a este lugar mau? lugar onde não há semente, nem de figos, nem de vides, nem de romãs, nem tem água para beber.
6 And Moses and Aaron went in from the presence of the multitude unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces,and the glory of Yahweh appeared unto them.
6 Então Moisés e Arão se foram de diante do povo à porta da tenda da congregação, e se lançaram sobre os seus rostos; e a glória do Senhor lhes apareceu.
7 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
7 E o Senhor falou a Moisés dizendo:
8 Take the staff and gather together the assembly, thou, and Aaron thy brother, then shall ye speak unto the cliff before their eyes and it shall give forth it waters,so shalt thou bring forth unto them water, out of the cliff, and shalt cause the assembly, and their cattle to drink.
8 Toma a vara, e ajunta a congregação, tu e Arão, teu irmão, e falai à rocha, perante os seus olhos, e dará a sua água; assim lhes tirarás água da rocha, e darás a beber à congregação e aos seus animais.
9 And Moses took the staff from before Yahweh,as he commanded him.
9 Então Moisés tomou a vara de diante do Senhor, como lhe tinha ordenado.
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered together the convocation before the cliff,and he said unto them: Hear I pray you ye rebels! Out of this cliff, must we bring forth for you water?
10 E Moisés e Arão reuniram a congregação diante da rocha, e Moisés disse-lhes: Ouvi agora, rebeldes, porventura tiraremos água desta rocha para vós?
11 And Moses lifted high his hand and smote the cliff with his staff, twice,and there came forth water in abundance, and the assembly and their cattle, did drink.
11 Então Moisés levantou a sua mão, e feriu a rocha duas vezes com a sua vara, e saiu muita água; e bebeu a congregação e os seus animais.
12 Then said Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, Because ye believed not in me, to hallow me in the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore, shall ye not bring in this convocation into the land which I have given unto them.
12 E o Senhor disse a Moisés e a Arão: Porquanto não crestes em mim, para me santificardes diante dos filhos de Israel, por isso não introduzireis esta congregação na terra que lhes tenho dado.
13 The same, were the waters of Meribah that is "Contention" in that the sons of Israel contended with Yahweh,and so he hallowed himself among them.
13 Estas são as águas de Meribá, porque os filhos de Israel contenderam com o Senhor; e se santificou neles.
14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh, unto the king of Edom,Thus, saith thy brother Israel, Thou thyself, knowest all the distress which befell us;
14 Depois Moisés, de Cades, mandou mensageiros ao rei de Edom, dizendo: Assim diz teu irmão Israel: Sabes todo o trabalho que nos sobreveio,
15 and how our fathers went down to Egypt, and we abode in Egypt, many days, rod that the Egyptians ill-treated us, and our fathers;
15 Como nossos pais desceram ao Egito, e nós no Egito habitamos muitos dias; e como os egípcios nos maltrataram, a nós e a nossos pais;
16 and we made outcry unto Yahweh, and he heard our voice, and sent a messenger, and brought us forth out of Egypt,lo! then, we, are in Kadesh, a city at the extremity of thy boundary,
16 E clamamos ao Senhor, e ele ouviu a nossa voz, e mandou um anjo, e nos tirou do Egito; e eis que estamos em Cades, cidade na extremidade dos teus termos.
17 Let us, we pray thee, pass through thy landwe will not pass through field or vineyard, nor will we drink the waters of a well,by the kings road, will we gowe will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left, until we get through thy boundary.
17 Deixa-nos, pois, passar pela tua terra; não passaremos pelo campo, nem pelas vinhas, nem beberemos a água dos poços; iremos pela estrada real; não nos desviaremos para a direita nem para a esquerda, até que passemos pelos teus termos.
18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass through my land,lest with the sword, I come out to meet thee.
18 Porém Edom lhe disse: Não passarás por mim, para que eu não saia com a espada ao teu encontro.
19 And the sons of Israel said unto himBy the highway, will we go up, and if thy waters, we should drinkI, and my cattle then would I give the price thereof,onlyit is nothing!with my feet, would I pass through.
19 Então os filhos de Israel lhe disseram: Subiremos pelo caminho aplanado, e se eu e o meu gado bebermos das tuas águas, darei o preço delas; não desejo alguma outra coisa, senão passar a pé.
20 And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out to meet him, with a strong people, and with a firm hand.
20 Porém ele disse: Não passarás. E saiu-lhe Edom ao encontro com muita gente, e com mão forte.
21 Thus did Edom refuse to give Israel passage through his boundary,and Israel turned away from him.
21 Assim recusou Edom deixar passar a Israel pelo seu termo; por isso Israel se desviou dele.
22 Then set they forward from Kadesh,and the sons of Israel. all the assembly, came in to Mount Hor.
22 Então partiram de Cades; e os filhos de Israel, toda a congregação, chegaram ao monte Hor.
23 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron in Mount Hor,near the boundary of the land of Edom saying:
23 E falou o Senhor a Moisés e a Arão no monte Hor, nos termos da terra de Edom, dizendo:
24 Aaron shall be withdrawn unto his kinsfolk, fur he shall not enter into the land. which I have given unto the sons of Israel,because ye spurned my bidding, at the waters of Meribah.
24 Arão será recolhido a seu povo, porque não entrará na terra que tenho dado aos filhos de Israel, porquanto rebeldes fostes à minha ordem, nas águas de Meribá.
25 Take thou Aaron, and Eleazar his son,and bring them up Mount Hor;
25 Toma a Arão e a Eleazar, seu filho, e faze-os subir ao monte Hor.
26 and strip thou Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son,and, Aaron, shall be withdrawn and shall lie there.
26 E despe a Arão as suas vestes, e veste-as em Eleazar, seu filho, porque Arão será recolhido, e morrerá ali.
27 And Moses did as Yahweh commanded,and they went up into, Mount Hor, in sight of all the assembly.
27 Fez, pois, Moisés como o Senhor lhe ordenara; e subiram ao monte Hor perante os olhos de toda a congregação.
28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them upon Eleazar his son, and Aaron died there, in the top of the mount,and Moses and Eleazar came down out of the mount.
28 E Moisés despiu a Arão de suas vestes, e as vestiu em Eleazar, seu filho; e morreu Arão ali sobre o cume do monte; e desceram Moisés e Eleazar do monte.
29 And all the assembly saw that Aaron was dead; and they bewailed Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
29 Vendo, pois, toda a congregação que Arão era morto, choraram a Arão trinta dias, toda a casa de Israel.
