1 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
1 Disse o Senhor a Moisés:
2 Send for thee men and let them spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving unto the sons of Israel,one man each for the tribe of his fathers, shalt thou send, each one a prince among them.
2 Envia homens que espiem a terra de Canaã, que eu hei de dar aos filhos de Israel; de cada tribo de seus pais enviareis um homem, sendo cada qual príncipe entre eles.
3 So then Moses sent them out of the desert of Paran, at the bidding of Yahweh,all of them, great men, heads of the seas of Israel, were they.
3 Enviou-os Moisés do deserto de Parã, segundo o mandado do Senhor ; todos aqueles homens eram cabeças dos filhos de Israel.
4 And, these, are their names,Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua, son of Zaccur;
4 São estes os seus nomes: da tribo de Rúben, Samua, filho de Zacur;
5 Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat, son of Hori;
5 da tribo de Simeão, Safate, filho de Hori;
6 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb, son of Jephunneh;
6 da tribo de Judá, Calebe, filho de Jefoné;
7 Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal, son of Joseph;
7 da tribo de Issacar, Jigeal, filho de José;
8 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea, son of Nun;
8 da tribo de Efraim, Oseias, filho de Num;
9 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti, son of Raphu;
9 da tribo de Benjamim, Palti, filho de Rafu;
10 Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel, son of Sodi;
10 da tribo de Zebulom, Gadiel, filho de Sodi;
11 Of the tribe of Josephof the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi son of Susi;
11 da tribo de José, pela tribo de Manassés, Gadi, filho de Susi;
12 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel, son of Gemalli;
12 da tribo de Dã, Amiel, filho de Gemali;
13 Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur, son of Michael;
13 da tribo de Aser, Setur, filho de Micael;
14 Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi, son of Vophsi;
14 da tribo de Naftali, Nabi, filho de Vofsi;
15 Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel, son of Machi.
15 da tribo de Gade, Geuel, filho de Maqui.
16 These, are the names of the men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land,but Moses called Hoshea son of Nun, Joshua.
16 São estes os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou a espiar aquela terra; e a Oseias, filho de Num, Moisés chamou Josué.
17 So Moses sent them, to spy out the land of Canaan,and said unto themGo up, here in the South, Yea ye shall go up the mountain;
17 Enviou-os, pois, Moisés a espiar a terra de Canaã; e disse-lhes: Subi ao Neguebe e penetrai nas montanhas.
18 And shall see the land, what it is,And the people that dwell thereupon, Whether they are, strong, or weak, Whether they are, few or many;
18 Vede a terra, que tal é, e o povo que nela habita, se é forte ou fraco, se poucos ou muitos.
19 And what, the land, is, wherein they dwell, Whether it is, good, or, bad,And the cities within which they dwell, Whether in camps or in strongholds;
19 E qual é a terra em que habita, se boa ou má; e que tais são as cidades em que habita, se em arraiais, se em fortalezas.
20 And what the land is, Whether, fat, or, lean, Whether there is timber therein or is not, Then shall ye pluck up courage and take of the fruit of the land. Now the days, were the days of the first-fruits of grapes.
20 Também qual é a terra, se fértil ou estéril, se nela há matas ou não. Tende ânimo e trazei do fruto da terra. Eram aqueles dias os dias das primícias das uvas.
21 So they went up, and spied out the land,from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob at the entering in of Hamath.
21 Assim, subiram e espiaram a terra desde o deserto de Zim até Reobe, à entrada de Hamate.
22 Yea they went up in the South and entered as far as Hebron, and there, were Ahiman Sheshai and Talmai descendants of the Anak. Now, Hebron, was built seven years, before Zoan of Egypt.
22 E subiram pelo Neguebe e vieram até Hebrom; estavam ali Aimã, Sesai e Talmai, filhos de Anaque (Hebrom foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoã, no Egito).
23 And they entered as far as the ravine of Eschol, and cut down, from thence a branch with one cluster of gropes, and bare it on a pole between two,also of the pomegranates and of the figs.
23 Depois, vieram até ao vale de Escol e dali cortaram um ramo de vide com um cacho de uvas, o qual trouxeram dois homens numa vara, como também romãs e figos.
24 That place, was called, The Ravine of Escholon account of the cluster, which was cut down from thence by the sons of Israel. \fs15
24 Esse lugar se chamou o vale de Escol, por causa do cacho que ali cortaram os filhos de Israel.
25 And they returned from spying out the land,at the end of forty days.
25 Ao cabo de quarenta dias, voltaram de espiar a terra,
26 So they took their journey, and came in unto Moses and unto Aaron and unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel into the wilderness of Paran, towards Kadesh,and brought back wordunto them and unto all the assembly, and showed them the fruit of the land.
26 caminharam e vieram a Moisés, e a Arão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel no deserto de Parã, a Cades; deram-lhes conta, a eles e a toda a congregação, e mostraram-lhes o fruto da terra.
27 And they recounted unto him, and said, We entered into the land whither thou didst send us, and surely it doth flow with milk and honey, and, this, is the fruit thereof.
27 Relataram a Moisés e disseram: Fomos à terra a que nos enviaste; e, verdadeiramente, mana leite e mel; este é o fruto dela.
28 Nevertheless surely mighty, are the people that dwell in the land,and, the cities, walled in, exceeding great, moreover also, the descendants of the
28 O povo, porém, que habita nessa terra é poderoso, e as cidades, mui grandes e fortificadas; também vimos ali os filhos de Anaque.
29 Anak, saw we there. Amalek, dwelleth in the land of the South; And, the Hittite, and the Jebusite and the Amorite, dwell in the mountain And the Canaanite, dwelleth by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.
29 Os amalequitas habitam na terra do Neguebe; os heteus, os jebuseus e os amorreus habitam na montanha; os cananeus habitam ao pé do mar e pela ribeira do Jordão.
30 And Caleb stilled the people unto Moses,and said unto themLet us go straight up, and possess it, for we shall, surely prevail, against it.
30 Então, Calebe fez calar o povo perante Moisés e disse: Eia! Subamos e possuamos a terra, porque, certamente, prevaleceremos contra ela.
31 But the men who went up with him said, We cannot go up against the people,for stronger, are they than we.
31 Porém os homens que com ele tinham subido disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquele povo, porque é mais forte do que nós.
32 So they sent forth a rumour of the land which they had spied out, among the sons of Israel, saying,As touching the land through which we passed to spy it out, it is, land that eateth up them who dwell therein, And all the people that we saw in the midst thereof, were men of great stature.
32 E, diante dos filhos de Israel, infamaram a terra que haviam espiado, dizendo: A terra pelo meio da qual passamos a espiar é terra que devora os seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos nela são homens de grande estatura.
33 And, there, saw we the giants, sons of Anak
33 Também vimos ali gigantes (os filhos de Anaque são descendentes de gigantes), e éramos, aos nossos próprios olhos, como gafanhotos e assim também o éramos aos seus olhos.
