1 This is the list of Aaron and Moses’ descendants when Jehovah spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai.

2 The names of Aaron’s sons are Nadab firstborn, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3 These are the names of Aaron’s sons, the anointed priests, who were ordained to serve as priests.
3 Estes são os nomes dos filhos de Arão, os sacerdotes que foram ungidos, a quem ele consagrou para ministrar o sacerdócio.
4 Nadab and Abihu died in Jehovah’s presence because they offered unauthorized fire in his presence in the Desert of Sinai. They had no children. So only Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests during the lifetime of their father Aaron.
4 E Nadabe e Abiú morreram perante o SENHOR, quando ofereceram fogo estranho perante o SENHOR, no deserto do Sinai; e não tiveram filhos; e Eleazar e Itamar ministraram o sacerdócio diante de Arão, seu pai.
5 Jehovah said to Moses:
5 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
6 »Bring the tribe of Levi, and have them stand in front of the priest Aaron to assist him.
6 Traze a tribo de Levi, e apresenta-os perante o sacerdote Arão, para que possam servi-lo.
7 »They will work for him and the whole community in front of the tent of meeting, doing what needs to be done for the inner tent.
7 E cumprirão as suas obrigações, e as obrigações de toda a congregação, diante do tabernáculo da congregação, para fazer o serviço do tabernáculo.
8 »They will take care of all the furnishings in the tent of meeting and work for the Israelites, doing what needs to be done for the inner tent.
8 E cuidarão de todos os instrumentos do tabernáculo da congregação, e cuidarão dos filhos de Israel, para realizar o serviço do tabernáculo.
9 »Give the Levites to Aaron and his sons. The Levites will be the only Israelites given to them.
9 E darás os levitas a Arão e seus filhos; eles lhe serão dados, de entre os filhos de Israel.
10 »Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests. Anyone else who tries to do the priests’ duties must be put to death.«
10 E nomearás a Arão e seus filhos, e eles exercerão as funções sacerdotais; e o estranho que se aproximar morrerá.
11 Jehovah said to Moses:
11 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
12 »Out of all the Israelites, I have taken the Levites to be substitutes for every firstborn male offspring among them. The Levites are mine,
12 E eis que tomei os levitas do meio dos filhos de Israel, em lugar de todo o primogênito, que abre a madre entre os filhos de Israel; e os levitas serão meus.
13 because every firstborn is mine. The day I killed every firstborn male in Egypt, I set apart as holy every firstborn in Israel, whether human or animal. They will be mine. I am Jehovah.«
13 Porque meus são todos os primogênitos; porque no dia em que feri todos os primogênitos na terra do Egito, santifiquei para mim todos os primogênitos de Israel, tanto humanos como animais, e serão meus; eu sou o SENHOR.
14 Jehovah said to Moses in the Desert of Sinai:
14 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, no deserto do Sinai, dizendo:
15 »Count the Levites by households and families. Count every male who is at least one month old.«
15 Conta os filhos de Levi, segundo a casa de seus pais, conforme as suas famílias; contarás todos os homens com idade igual ou superior a um mês.
16 Moses did what Jehovah said. He registered them as he had been commanded.
16 E Moisés os contou, segundo a palavra do SENHOR, como ele ordenara.
17 Gershon, Kohath, and Merari were the sons of Levi.
17 E estes eram os filhos de Levi, por seus nomes: Gérson, e Coate, e Merari.
18 Libni and Shimei were the sons of Gershon. Their families were named after them.
18 E estes são os nomes dos filhos de Gérson, por suas famílias: Libni e Simei.
19 Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel were the sons of Kohath. Their families were named after them.
19 E os filhos de Coate, por suas famílias: Anrão, e Izar, e Hebrom, e Uziel.
20 Mahli and Mushi were the sons of Merari. Their families were named after them. These were the households of Levite families.
20 E os filhos de Merari, por suas famílias: Mali e Musi; estas são as famílias dos levitas, segundo a casa de seus pais.
21 To Gershon belonged the families descended from Libni and Shimei. These were the families descended from Gershon.

22 The total number of all the males at least one month old was seven thousand five hundred.

23 The families descended from Gershon put up their tents on the west side behind the tent of meeting.

25 The Gershonites were in charge of the inner tent, the outer tent and cover, the screen for the entrance to the tent of meeting,

26 the curtains for the courtyard, the screen for the entrance to the courtyard that surrounds the inner tent and the altar, and the ropes. They took care of all these things.

27 To Kohath belonged the families descended from Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. These were the families descended from Kohath.

28 The number of all the males at least one month old was eight thousand six hundred. They were in charge of the holy place.

29 The families descended from Kohath put up their tents on the south side of the tent of meeting.
29 As famílias dos filhos de Coate acamparão do lado sul do tabernáculo.
30 The leader of the Kohathite families and households was Elizaphan, son of Uzziel.

31 They were in charge of the Ark, the table, the lamp stand, the altars, the utensils used in the holy place, and the screen. They took care of all these things.

32 The leader of the Levites was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest. He was in charge of those who carried out the duties in the Holy Place.

33 The clan of Merari was composed of the families of Mahli and Mushi.

34 The total number of males one month old or older that were enrolled was six thousand two hundred.

35 This clan was to camp on the north side of the Tent, with Zuriel son of Abihail as leader of the clan.

36 It was the duty of the Merarites to be in charge of the framework of the inner tent, the crossbars, posts, sockets, and all the equipment. They took care of these things.

37 They were responsible for the posts for the surrounding courtyard, the bases, pegs, and ropes.

38 Moses, Aaron, and his sons put up their tents on the east side in front of the tent of meeting. They were in charge of the holy place on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who tried to do the Levites’ duties had to be put to death.
38 Mas os que acampam diante do tabernáculo, no lado oriental, diante do tabernáculo da congregação, no lado oriental, Moisés, e Arão e seus filhos manterão a guarda do santuário para o cargo dos filhos de Israel; e o estranho que se aproximar, morrerá.
39 The grand total of Levites that Moses and Aaron counted at Jehovah’s command, by families, every male who was at least one month old, was twenty-two thousand.
39 Todos os que foram contados dos levitas, que Moisés e Arão contaram, por ordem do SENHOR, segundo suas famílias, todos os homens com idade igual ou superior a um mês, eram vinte e dois mil.
40 Jehovah said to Moses: »Register every firstborn male of the Israelites who is at least one month old, and make a list of their names.
40 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Conta todos os primogênitos dos filhos de Israel, com idade igual ou superior a um mês, e toma o número de seus nomes.
41 »I am Jehovah. Take the Levites for me to be substitutes for all firstborn Israelites. Also take the animals of the Levites to be substitutes for all firstborn animals of the Israelites.«
41 E tomarás os levitas para mim (eu sou o SENHOR), no lugar de todos os primogênitos dos filhos de Israel, e o gado dos levitas, no lugar dos primogênitos entre o gado dos filhos de Israel.
42 Moses registered all the firstborn Israelites as Jehovah commanded him.
42 E Moisés contou, como o SENHOR lhe ordenara, todos os primogênitos entre os filhos de Israel.
43 The total of all the firstborn males at least one month old was twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy three. They were listed by name.
43 E todos os primogênitos, pelos números de nomes, com idade igual ou superior a um mês, dos que foram contados, somaram vinte e dois mil e duzentos e setenta e três.
44 Jehovah said to Moses:
44 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
45 »Take the Levites to be substitutes for all the firstborn Israelites and the animals of the Levites to be substitutes for their animals. The Levites will be mine. I am Jehovah.
45 Toma os levitas, no lugar de todos os primogênitos entre os filhos de Israel, e o gado dos levitas, no lugar do gado de Israel, e os levitas serão meus: eu sou o SENHOR.
46 »There are two hundred and seventy-three more firstborn male Israelites than there are Levites.
46 E para aqueles que serão resgatados dos duzentos e setenta e três, dos primogênitos dos filhos de Israel, que são em maior número que os levitas,
47 »It will cost you two ounces of silver per person, using the standard weight of the holy place, to buy them back.
47 tomarás por cabeça cinco shekels, segundo o shekel do santuário os tomarás; (o shekel é vinte geras).
48 »Give the silver to Aaron and his sons. It will buy back those Israelites who outnumber the Levites.«
48 E darás a Arão e aos seus filhos o dinheiro com o qual o número deles será resgatado.
49 Moses took this ransom money from the Israelites who outnumbered the Levites.
49 E Moisés tomou o dinheiro do resgate daqueles que eram em maior número que eles, que foram resgatados pelos levitas.
50 The silver Moses collected for the firstborn Israelites weighed thirty-four pounds using the standard weight of the holy place.

51 Then Moses did what Jehovah said and gave Aaron and his sons this ransom money as he had been commanded.
