1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
1 Mas, irmãos, acerca dos tempos e das estações, não necessitais de que se vos escreva;
2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
2 porque vós mesmos sabeis muito bem que o Dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite.
3 For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
3 Pois que, quando disserem: Há paz e segurança, então, lhes sobrevirá repentina destruição, como as dores de parto àquela que está grávida; e de modo nenhum escaparão.
4 But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
4 Mas vós, irmãos, já não estais em trevas, para que aquele Dia vos surpreenda como um ladrão;
5 You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
5 porque todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia; nós não somos da noite nem das trevas.
6 so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
6 Não durmamos, pois, como os demais, mas vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
7 For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.
7 Porque os que dormem dormem de noite, e os que se embebedam embebedam-se de noite.
8 But since we belong to the day, let’s be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
8 Mas nós, que somos do dia, sejamos sóbrios, vestindo-nos da couraça da fé e do amor e tendo por capacete a esperança da salvação.
9 For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
9 Porque Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas para a aquisição da salvação, por nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
10 que morreu por nós, para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos juntamente com ele.
11 Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.
11 Pelo que exortai-vos uns aos outros e edificai-vos uns aos outros, como também o fazeis.
12 But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
12 E rogamo-vos, irmãos, que reconheçais os que trabalham entre vós, e que presidem sobre vós no Senhor, e vos admoestam;
13 and to respect and honor them in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
13 e que os tenhais em grande estima e amor, por causa da sua obra. Tende paz entre vós.
14 We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all.
14 Rogamo-vos também, irmãos, que admoesteis os desordeiros, consoleis os de pouco ânimo, sustenteis os fracos e sejais pacientes para com todos.
15 See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
15 Vede que ninguém dê a outrem mal por mal, mas segui, sempre, o bem, tanto uns para com os outros como para com todos.
16 Always rejoice.
16 Regozijai-vos sempre.
17 Pray without ceasing.
17 Orai sem cessar.
18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
18 Em tudo dai graças, porque esta é a vontade de Deus em Cristo Jesus para convosco.
19 Don’t quench the Spirit.
19 Não extingais o Espírito.
20 Don’t despise prophecies.
20 Não desprezeis as profecias.
21 Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.
21 Examinai tudo. Retende o bem.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
22 Abstende-vos de toda aparência do mal.
23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
23 E o mesmo Deus de paz vos santifique em tudo; e todo o vosso espírito, e alma, e corpo sejam plenamente conservados irrepreensíveis para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24 He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
24 Fiel é o que vos chama, o qual também o fará.
25 Brothers, pray for us.
25 Irmãos, orai por nós.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
26 Saudai a todos os irmãos com ósculo santo.
27 I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.
27 Pelo Senhor vos conjuro que esta epístola seja lida a todos os santos irmãos.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
28 A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja convosco. Amém!
