1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses in the plaine of Moab by Iorden, toward Iericho, saying,
1 E falou o Senhor a Moisés nas campinas dos moabitas, junto ao Jordão, de Jericó, dizendo:
2 Commande ye children of Israel, that they giue vnto the Leuites of the inheritace of their possession, cities to dwell in: yee shall giue also vnto the Leuites the suburbes of the cities round about them.
2 Dá ordem aos filhos de Israel que, da herança da sua possessão, deem cidades aos levitas, em que habitem; e também aos levitas dareis arrabaldes ao redor delas.
3 So they shall haue the cities to dwell in, and their suburbes shall be for their cattell, and for their substance, and for all their beasts.
3 E terão estas cidades para habitá-las; porém os seus arrabaldes serão para os seus gados, e para a sua fazenda, e para todos os seus animais.
4 And the suburbes of the cities, which ye shall giue vnto the Leuites, from the wall of the citie outward, shalbe a thousand cubites round about.
4 E os arrabaldes das cidades que dareis aos levitas, desde o muro da cidade para fora, serão de mil côvados em redor.
5 And yee shall measure without the citie of the Eastside, two thousand cubites: and of the Southside, two thousand cubites: and of the Westside, two thousand cubites: and of ye Northside, two thousand cubites: and the citie shalbe in ye middes. this shalbe the measure of the suburbes of their cities.
5 E de fora da cidade, da banda do oriente, medireis dois mil côvados, e da banda do sul, dois mil côvados, e da banda do ocidente, dois mil côvados, e da banda do norte, dois mil côvados, e a cidade no meio; isto terão por arrabaldes das cidades.
6 And of the cities which yee shall giue vnto the Leuites, there shalbe sixe cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint, that he which killeth, may flee thither: and to them yee shall adde two and fourtie cities more.
6 Das cidades, pois, que dareis aos levitas haverá seis cidades de refúgio, as quais dareis para que o homicida ali se acolha; e, além destas, lhes dareis quarenta e duas cidades.
7 All the cities which yee shall giue to the Leuites, shalbe eight and fourtie cities: them shall ye giue with their suburbes.
7 Todas as cidades que dareis aos levitas serão quarenta e oito cidades, juntamente com os seus arrabaldes.
8 And concerning the cities which yee shall giue, of the possession of the children of Israel: of many ye shall take more, and of few ye shall take lesse: euery one shall giue of his cities vnto the Leuites, according to his inheritance, which hee inheriteth.
8 E as cidades que derdes da herança dos filhos de Israel, do que tiver muito, tomareis muito; e, do que tiver pouco, tomareis pouco; cada um dará das suas cidades aos levitas, segundo a sua herança que herdar.
9 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
9 Falou mais o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:
10 Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When ye be come ouer Iorden into the land of Canaan,
10 Fala aos filhos de Israel e dize-lhes: Quando passardes o Jordão à terra de Canaã,
11 Ye shall appoint you cities, to bee cities of refuge for you, that the slayer, which slayeth any person vnwares, may flee thither.
11 fazei com que vos estejam à mão cidades que vos sirvam de cidades de refúgio, para que ali se acolha o homicida que ferir a alguma alma por erro.
12 And these cities shalbe for you a refuge from the auenger, that he which killeth, die not, vntill he stand before the Congregation in iudgement.
12 E estas cidades vos serão por refúgio do vingador do sangue; para que o homicida não morra, até que esteja perante a congregação no juízo.
13 And of the cities which ye shall giue, sixe cities shall ye haue for refuge.
13 E, das cidades que derdes, haverá seis cidades de refúgio para vós.
14 Ye shall appoint three on this side Iorden, and ye shall appoint three cities in the lande of Canaan which shalbe cities of refuge.
14 Três destas cidades dareis daquém do Jordão, e três destas cidades dareis na terra de Canaã; cidades de refúgio serão.
15 These six cities shalbe a refuge for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for him that dwelleth among you, that euery one which killeth any person vnwares, may flee thither.
15 Serão de refúgio estas seis cidades para os filhos de Israel, e para o estrangeiro, e para o que se hospedar no meio deles, para que ali se acolha aquele que ferir a alguma pessoa por erro.
16 And if one smite another with an instrument of yron that hee die, hee is a murtherer, and the murtherer shall die the death.
16 Porém, se a ferir com instrumento de ferro, e morrer, homicida é; certamente o homicida morrerá.
17 Also if hee smite him by casting a stone, wherewith hee may be slaine, and he die, hee is a murtherer, and the murtherer shall die the death.
17 Ou, se a ferir com pedra à mão, de que possa morrer, e ela morrer, homicida é; certamente o homicida morrerá.
18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may be slaine, if he die, he is a murtherer, and the murtherer shall die the death.
18 Ou, se a ferir com instrumento de madeira que tiver na mão, de que possa morrer, e ela morrer, homicida é; certamente morrerá o homicida.
19 The reuenger of the blood himselfe shall slay the murtherer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.
19 O vingador do sangue matará o homicida: encontrando-o, matá-lo-á.
20 But if hee thrust him of hate, or hurle at him by laying of wait, that he die,
20 Se também a empurrar com ódio, ou com intento lançar contra ele alguma coisa, e morrer;
21 Or smite him through enimitie with his hand, that he die, he that smote him shall die ye death: for hee is a murtherer: the reuenger of the blood shall slay the murtherer when he meeteth him.
21 ou por inimizade a ferir com a sua mão, e morrer, certamente morrerá o feridor; homicida é; o vingador do sangue, encontrando o homicida, o matará.
22 But if he pusshed him vnaduisedly, and not of hatred, or cast vpon him any thing, without laying of waite,
22 Porém, se a empurrar de improviso, sem inimizade, ou contra ela lançar algum instrumento sem desígnio;
23 Or any stone (whereby he might be slaine) and sawe him not, or caused it to fall vpon him, and he die, and was not his enemie, neither sought him any harme,
23 ou sobre ela fizer cair alguma pedra sem o ver, de que possa morrer, e ela morrer, e ele não era seu inimigo nem procurava o seu mal,
24 Then the Congregation shall iudge betweene the slayer and the auenger of blood according to these lawes.
24 então, a congregação julgará entre o feridor e o vingador do sangue, segundo estas leis.
25 And the Congregation shall deliuer the slayer out of the hande of the auenger of blood, and the Congregation shall restore him vnto the citie of his refuge, whither hee was fled: and hee shall abide there vnto the death of the hie Priest, which is anointed with the holy oyle.
25 E a congregação livrará o homicida da mão do vingador do sangue, e a congregação o fará voltar à cidade do seu refúgio onde se tinha acolhido; e ali ficará até à morte do sumo sacerdote, a quem ungiram com o santo óleo.
26 But if the slayer come without the borders of the citie of his refuge, whither he was fled,
26 Porém, se de alguma maneira o homicida sair dos termos da cidade do seu refúgio, onde se tinha acolhido,
27 And the reuenger of blood finde him without the borders of the citie of his refuge, and the reueger of blood slay ye murtherer, he shalbe giltles,
27 e o vingador do sangue o achar fora dos termos da cidade do seu refúgio, se o vingador do sangue matar o homicida, não será culpado do sangue.
28 Because he should haue remained in the citie of his refuge, vntill the death of the hie Priest: and after the death of the hie Priest, the slayer shall returne vnto the land of his possession.
28 Pois deve ficar na cidade do seu refúgio, até à morte do sumo sacerdote; mas, depois da morte do sumo sacerdote, o homicida voltará à terra da sua possessão.
29 So these thinges shall be a lawe of iudgement vnto you, throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
29 E estas coisas vos serão por estatuto de direito a vossas gerações, em todas as vossas habitações.
30 Whosoeuer killeth any person, the Iudge shall slay the murtherer, through witnesses: but one witnesse shall not testifie against a person to cause him to die.
30 Todo aquele que ferir a alguma pessoa, conforme o dito das testemunhas, matarão o homicida; mas uma só testemunha não testemunhará contra alguém para que morra,
31 Moreouer ye shall take no recompense for the life of the murtherer, which is worthy to die: but he shalbe put to death.
31 e não tomareis expiação pela vida do homicida, que culpado está de morte; antes, certamente morrerá.
32 Also ye shall take no recompense for him that is fled to the citie of his refuge, that he should come againe, and dwell in the lande, before the death of the hie Priest.
32 Também não tomareis expiação por aquele que se acolher à cidade do seu refúgio, para tornar a habitar na terra, até à morte do sumo sacerdote.
33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye shall dwell: for blood defileth the land: and the land cannot be clensed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
33 Assim, não profanareis a terra em que estais; porque o sangue faz profanar a terra; e nenhuma expiação se fará pela terra por causa do sangue que se derramar nela, senão com o sangue daquele que o derramou.
34 Defile not therefore the lande which yee shall inhabite, For I dwell in the middes thereof: for I the Lord dwel among the children of Israel.
34 Não contaminareis, pois, a terra na qual vós habitareis, no meio da qual eu habitarei; pois eu, o Senhor , habito no meio dos filhos de Israel.
