1 Nowe the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad had an exceeding great multitude of cattell: and they sawe the lande of Iazer, and the lande of Gilead, that it was an apt place for cattel.
1 As tribos de Rúben e de Gade, donas de numerosos rebanhos, viram que as terras de Jazar e de Gileade eram próprias para a criação de gado.
2 Then the children of Gad, and the childre of Reuben came, and spake vnto Moses and to Eleazar the Priest, and vnto the princes of the Congregation, saying,
2 Por isso foram a Moisés, ao sacerdote Eleazar e aos líderes da comunidade, e disseram:
3 The land of Ataroth, and Dibon, and Iazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
3 "Atarote, Dibom, Jazar, Ninra, Hesbom, Eleale, Sebã, Nebo e Beom,
4 Which countrey the Lord smote before the Congregation of Israel, is a lande meete for cattell, and thy seruants haue cattell:
4 terras que o Senhor subjugou perante a comunidade de Israel, são próprias para a criação de gado, e os seus servos possuem gado".
5 Wherefore, said they, if we haue foud grace in thy sight, let this lande be giuen vnto thy seruants for a possession, and bring vs not ouer Iorde.
5 E acrescentaram: "Se podemos contar com o favor de vocês, deixem que essa terra seja dada a estes seus servos como nossa herança. Não nos façam atravessar o Jordão".
6 And Moses said vnto the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren goe to warre, and ye tary heere?
6 Moisés respondeu aos homens de Gade e de Rúben: "E os seus compatriotas irão à guerra enquanto vocês ficam aqui?
7 Wherefore now discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel, to goe ouer into the lande, which the Lord hath giuen them?
7 Por que vocês desencorajam os israelitas de entrar na terra que o Senhor lhes deu?
8 Thus did your fathers when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the lande.
8 Foi isso que os pais de vocês fizeram quando os enviei de Cades-Barnéia para verem a terra.
9 For when they went vp euen vnto the riuer of Eshcol, and sawe the land: they discouraged the heart of the childre of Israel, that they woulde not goe into the lande, which the Lord had giuen them.
9 Depois de subirem ao vale de Escol e examinarem a terra, desencorajaram os israelitas de entrar na terra que o Senhor lhes tinha dado.
10 And the Lordes wrath was kindled the same day, and he did sweare, saying,
10 A ira do Senhor se acendeu naquele dia, e ele fez este juramento:
11 None of the men that came out of Egypt from twentie yeere olde and aboue, shall see the land for the which I sware vnto Abraham, to Izhak, and to Iaakob, because they haue not wholly followed me:
11 ‘Como não me seguiram de coração íntegro, nenhum dos homens de vinte anos para cima que saíram do Egito verá a terra que prometi sob juramento a Abraão, a Isaque e a Jacó,
12 Except Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh the Kenesite, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun: for they haue constantly followed the Lord.
12 com exceção de Calebe, filho de Jefoné, o quenezeu, e Josué, filho de Num, seguiram ao Senhor com integridade de coração’.
13 And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and made them wander in the wildernesse fourty yeeres, vntill all the generation that had done euill in the sight of the Lord were consumed.
13 A ira do Senhor acendeu-se contra Israel, e ele os fez andar errantes no deserto durante quarenta anos, até que passou toda a geração daqueles que lhe tinham desagradado com seu mau procedimento.
14 And behold, ye are risen vp in your fathers steade as an encrease of sinfull men, still to augment the fierce wrath of the Lord, toward Israel.
14 "E aí estão vocês, raça de pecadores, pondo-se no lugar dos seus antepassados e acendendo ainda mais a ira do Senhor contra Israel.
15 For if ye turne away from following him, he will yet againe leaue the people in the wildernesse, and ye shall destroy all this folke.
15 Se deixarem de segui-lo, de novo ele os abandonará no deserto, e vocês serão o motivo da destruição de todo este povo".
16 And they went neere to him, and said, We will builde sheepe foldes here for our sheepe, and for our cattell, and cities for our children.
16 Então se aproximaram dele e disseram: "Gostaríamos de construir aqui currais para o nosso gado e cidades para as nossas mulheres e filhos.
17 But we our selues will be readie armed to go before the children of Israel, vntill we haue brought them vnto their place: but our childre shall dwell in the defenced cities, because of the inhabitants of the lande.
17 Mas nós nos armaremos e estaremos prontos para ir à frente dos israelitas até que os tenhamos levado ao seu lugar. Enquanto isso, nossas mulheres e nossos filhos morarão em cidades fortificadas para se proteger dos habitantes da terra.
18 We will not returne vnto our houses, vntil the children of Israel haue inherited, euery man his inheritance.
18 Não retornaremos aos nossos lares enquanto todos os israelitas não receberem a sua herança.
19 Neither wil we inherite with them beyond Iorden and on that side, because our inheritance is fallen to vs on this side Iorden Eastwarde.
19 Não receberemos herança alguma com eles do outro lado do Jordão, uma vez que a nossa herança nos seja dada no lado leste do Jordão".
20 And Moses saide vnto them, If ye will doe this thing, and goe armed before the Lord to warre:
20 Disse-lhes Moisés: "Se fizerem isso, se perante o Senhor vocês se armarem para a guerra,
21 And will goe euery one of you in harnesse ouer Iorden before the Lord, vntill he hath cast out his enemies from his sight:
21 e se, armados, todos vocês atravessarem o Jordão perante o Senhor até que ele tenha expulsado os seus inimigos da frente dele,
22 And vntill the land be subdued before the Lord, then ye shall returne and be innocent toward the Lord, and toward Israel: and this land shalbe your possession before the Lord.
22 então, quando a terra estiver subjugada perante o Senhor, vocês poderão voltar e estarão livres da sua obrigação para com o Senhor e para com Israel. E esta terra será propriedade de vocês perante o Senhor.
23 But if ye will not doe so, beholde, ye haue sinned against the Lord, and be sure, that your sinne will finde you out.
23 "Mas, se vocês não fizerem isso, estarão pecando contra o Senhor; e estejam certos de que vocês não escaparão do pecado que cometeram.
24 Builde you then cities for your children and folds for your sheepe, and do that ye haue spoke.
24 Construam cidades para as suas mulheres e crianças, e currais para os seus rebanhos, mas façam o que vocês prometeram".
25 Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake vnto Moses, saying, Thy seruats will doe as my lorde commandeth:
25 Então os homens de Gade e de Rúben disseram a Moisés: "Nós, seus servos, faremos como o meu senhor ordena.
26 Our childre, our wiues, our sheepe, and al our cattell shall remaine there in the cities of Gilead,
26 Nossos filhos e mulheres, todos os nossos rebanhos ficarão aqui nas cidades de Gileade.
27 But thy seruants will goe euery one armed to warre before the Lord for to fight, as my lorde saith.
27 Mas os seus servos, todos os homens armados para a batalha, atravessarão para lutar perante o Senhor, assim como o meu senhor está dizendo".
28 So concerning them, Moses commanded Eleazar the Priest, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and the chiefe fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel:
28 Moisés deu as seguintes instruções acerca deles ao sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, filho de Num, e aos chefes de família das tribos israelitas:
29 And Moses said vnto them, If the children of Gad, and the children of Reuben, will go with you ouer Iorden, all armed to fight before the Lord, then when the land is subdued before you, ye shall giue the the lad of Gilead for a possessio:
29 "Se os homens de Gade e de Rúben, todos eles armados para a batalha, atravessarem o Jordão com vocês perante o Senhor, então, quando a terra for subjugada perante vocês, entreguem-lhes como propriedade a terra de Gileade.
30 But if they will not goe ouer with you armed, then they shall haue their possessions amog you in the land of Canaan.
30 Mas, se não atravessarem armados com vocês, terão que aceitar a propriedade deles com vocês em Canaã".
31 And the children of Gad, and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the Lord hath said vnto thy seruants, so will we doe.
31 Os homens de Gade e de Rúben responderam: "Os seus servos farão o que o Senhor disse.
32 We will goe armed before the Lord into the lande of Canaan: that the possession of our inheritance may be to vs on this side Iorden.
32 Atravessaremos o Jordão perante o Senhor e entraremos armados em Canaã, mas a propriedade que vamos herdar estará deste lado do Jordão".
33 So Moses gaue vnto them, euen to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to halfe the tribe of Manasseh the sonne of Ioseph, the kingdome of Sihon King of the Amorites, and the kingdome of Og King of Bashan, the lande with the cities thereof and coastes, euen the cities of the countrey round about.
33 Então Moisés deu às tribos de Gade e de Rúben e à metade da tribo de Manassés, filho de José, o reino de Seom, rei dos amorreus, e o reino de Ogue, rei de Basã, toda a terra com as suas cidades e o território ao redor delas.
34 Then the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
34 A tribo de Gade construiu Dibom, Atarote, Aroer,
35 And Atroth, Shophan, and Iazer, and Iogbehah,
35 Atarote-Sofã, Jazar, Jogbeá,
36 And Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, defenced cities: also sheepe foldes.
36 Bete-Ninra e Bete-Harã como cidades fortificadas, e fez currais para os seus rebanhos.
37 And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,
37 E a tribo de Rúben reconstruiu Hesbom, Eleale e Quiriataim,
38 And Nebo, and Baal-meon, and turned their names, and Shibmah: and gaue other names vnto the cities which they built.
38 bem como Nebo e Baal-Meom ( esses nomes foram mudados ) e Sibma. E deu outros nomes a essas cidades.
39 And the children of Machir the sonne of Manasseh went to Gilead, and tooke it, and put out the Amorites that dwelt therein.
39 Os descendentes de Maquir, filho de Manassés, foram a Gileade, tomaram posse dela e expulsaram os amorreus que lá estavam.
40 Then Moses gaue Gilead vnto Machir the sonne of Manasseh, and he dwelt therein.
40 Então Moisés deu Gileade aos maquiritas, descendentes de Manassés, e eles passaram a habitar ali.
41 And Iair the sonne of Manasseh went and tooke the small townes thereof, and called them Hauoth Iair.
41 Jair, descendente de Manassés, conquistou os povoados deles e os chamou Havote-Jair.
42 Also Nobah went and tooke Kenath, with the villages thereof and called it Nobah, after his owne name.
42 E Noba conquistou Quenate e os seus povoados e a chamou Noba, de acordo com o seu nome.
