1 Then all ye Congregation lifted vp their voice, and cryed: and the people wept that night,
1 Então toda a congregação se levantou e gritou em alta voz; e o povo chorou aquela noite.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron: and the whole assemblie said vnto them, Would God we had died in the land of Egypt, or in this wildernesse: would God we were dead.
2 Todos os filhos de Israel murmuraram contra Moisés e contra Arão; e toda a congregação lhes disse: — Quem dera tivéssemos morrido na terra do Egito ou mesmo neste deserto!
3 Wherefore nowe hath the Lord brought vs into this lande to fall vpon the sworde? our wiues, and our children shall be a pray: were it not better for vs to returne into Egypt?
3 E por que o Senhor nos traz a esta terra, para cairmos à espada e para que nossas mulheres e nossas crianças sejam por presa? Não seria melhor voltarmos para o Egito?
4 And they said one to another, Let vs make a Captaine and returne into Egypt.
4 E diziam uns aos outros: — Vamos escolher um chefe e voltemos para o Egito.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assemblie of the Congregation of the children of Israel.
5 Então Moisés e Arão caíram sobre o seu rosto diante da congregação dos filhos de Israel.
6 And Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh two of them that searched the lande, rent their clothes,
6 E Josué, filho de Num, e Calebe, filho de Jefoné, que eram daqueles que espiaram a terra, rasgaram as suas roupas
7 And spake vnto all the assemblie of the childre of Israel, saying, The land which we walked through to search it, is a very good lande.
7 e falaram a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, dizendo: — A terra pela qual passamos para espiar é terra muitíssimo boa.
8 If the Lord loue vs, he will bring vs into this land, and giue it vs, which is a land that floweth with milke and honie.
8 Se o Senhor se agradar de nós, então nos fará entrar e nos dará essa terra, que é uma terra que mana leite e mel.
9 But rebell not ye against the Lord, neither feare ye the people of the land: for they are but bread for vs: their shielde is departed from the, and the Lord is with vs, feare them not.
9 Tão somente não sejam rebeldes contra o Senhor e não tenham medo do povo dessa terra, porque, como pão, os podemos devorar; a proteção que eles tinham se foi. O Senhor está conosco; não tenham medo deles.
10 And all the multitude saide, Stone them with stones: but the glory of the Lord appeared in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before all the children of Israel.
10 Apesar disso, toda a congregação disse que Josué e Calebe deviam ser apedrejados; porém a glória do Senhor apareceu na tenda do encontro a todos os filhos de Israel.
11 And the Lord said vnto Moses, How long will this people prouoke me, and howe long will it be, yer they beleeue me, for al the signes which I haue shewed among them?
11 O Senhor disse a Moisés: — Até quando este povo me provocará e até quando não crerá em mim, apesar de todos os sinais que fiz no meio dele?
12 I will smite them with the pestilence and destroy them, and will make thee a greater nation and mightier then they.
12 Vou feri-lo com pestilência e deserdá-lo; e farei de você povo maior e mais forte do que este.
13 But Moses saide vnto the Lord, When the Egyptians shall heare it, (for thou broughtest this people by thy power from among them)
13 Moisés respondeu ao Senhor : — Os egípcios não somente ouviram que, com o teu poder, fizeste este povo sair do meio deles,
14 Then they shall say to the inhabitants of this land, (for they haue heard that thou, Lord, art among this people, and that thou, Lord, art seene face to face, and that thy cloude standeth ouer them, and that thou goest before them by day time in a pillar of a cloude, and in a pillar of fire by night)
14 mas também o disseram aos moradores desta terra. Eles ouviram que tu, ó Senhor , estás no meio deste povo, que face a face, ó Senhor , lhes apareces, tua nuvem está sobre eles e vais adiante deles numa coluna de nuvem, de dia, e, numa coluna de fogo, de noite.
15 That thou wilt kill this people as one man: so the heathen which haue heard the fame of thee, shall thus say,
15 Se matares este povo de uma só vez, as nações, que antes ouviram a tua fama, dirão:
16 Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the lande, which he sware vnto them, therefore hath he slaine them in the wildernesse.
16 “Visto que o Senhor não conseguiu fazer este povo entrar na terra que lhe prometeu com juramento, matou-os no deserto.”
17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,
17 Agora, pois, peço que a força do meu Senhor se engrandeça, como tens falado, dizendo:
18 The Lord is slowe to anger, and of great mercie, and forgiuing iniquitie, and sinne, but not making the wicked innocent, and visiting the wickednes of the fathers vpon the children, in the thirde and fourth generation:
18 “O Senhor é tardio em irar-se e rico em bondade; ele perdoa a iniquidade e a transgressão, mas não inocenta o culpado, e visita a iniquidade dos pais nos filhos até a terceira e a quarta geração.”
19 Be mercifull, I beseech thee, vnto the iniquitie of this people, according to thy great mercie, and as thou hast forgiuen this people from Egypt, euen vntill nowe.
19 Perdoa, pois, a iniquidade deste povo, segundo a grandeza da tua misericórdia e como também tens perdoado a este povo desde a terra do Egito até aqui.
20 And the Lord said, I haue forgiuen it, according to thy request.
20 O Senhor respondeu: — Conforme você me pediu, eu perdoei.
21 Notwithstanding, as I liue, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.
21 Porém, tão certo como eu vivo, e como toda a terra se encherá da glória do Senhor ,
22 For all those men which haue seene my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wildernes, and haue tempted me this ten times, and haue not obeyed my voyce,
22 nenhum dos homens que viram a minha glória e os prodígios que fiz no Egito e no deserto e, mesmo assim me puseram à prova já dez vezes e não obedeceram à minha voz,
23 Certainely they shall not see the lande, whereof I sware vnto their fathers: neither shall any that prouoke me, see it.
23 nenhum deles verá a terra que, com juramento, prometi a seus pais; sim, nenhum daqueles que me desprezaram a verá.
24 But my seruant Caleb, because he had another spirite, and hath followed me stil, euen him will I bring into the lande, whither he went, and his seede shall inherite it.
24 Porém o meu servo Calebe, visto que nele houve outro espírito, e perseverou em seguir-me, eu o farei entrar na terra que espiou, e a sua descendência a possuirá.
25 Nowe the Amalekites and the Canaanites remaine in the valley: wherefore turne backe to morowe, and get you into the wildernesse, by the way of the red Sea.
25 Ora, os amalequitas e os cananeus habitam no vale; portanto, amanhã mudem de rumo e caminhem para o deserto, pelo caminho do mar Vermelho.
26 After, the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron, saying,
26 Depois, o Senhor disse a Moisés e a Arão:
27 How long shall I suffer this wicked multitude to murmure against me? I haue heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmure against me.
27 — Até quando vou aguentar esta má congregação que murmura contra mim? Tenho ouvido as murmurações que os filhos de Israel proferem contra mim.
28 Tell them, As I liue (saith the Lord) I wil surely do vnto you, euen as ye haue spoken in mine eares.
28 Diga-lhes: “Tão certo como eu vivo, diz o Senhor , vou tratar vocês de acordo com o que falaram aos meus ouvidos.
29 Your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes, and all you that were counted through all your nombers, from twentie yeere olde and aboue, which haue murmured against me,
29 Neste deserto, cairá o cadáver de vocês — de todos vocês que foram contados no censo, de vinte anos para cima, e que murmuraram contra mim.
30 Ye shall not doubtles come into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hande, to make you dwell therein, saue Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun.
30 Vocês não entrarão na terra na qual jurei que os faria habitar, com a exceção de Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e Josué, filho de Num.
31 But your children, (which ye said shoulde be a pray) them will I bring in, and they shall knowe the lande which ye haue refused:
31 Mas os seus filhos, dos quais vocês dizem que serão por presa, esses eu farei entrar nela; e eles conhecerão a terra que vocês desprezaram.
32 But euen your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes,
32 Porém, quanto a vocês, o seu cadáver cairá neste deserto.
33 And your children shall wander in the wildernesse, fourtie yeeres, and shall beare your whoredomes, vntill your carkeises be wasted in the wildernesse.
33 Os filhos de vocês serão pastores neste deserto durante quarenta anos e levarão sobre si as infidelidades de vocês, até que o cadáver de vocês se consuma neste deserto.
34 After the number of the dayes, in the which ye searched out the lande, euen fourtie dayes, euery day for a yeere, shall ye beare your iniquity, for fourtie yeeres, and ye shall feele my breach of promise.
34 Segundo o número dos dias em que vocês espiaram a terra, quarenta dias, cada dia representando um ano, vocês levarão sobre si as suas iniquidades durante quarenta anos e terão experiência do meu desagrado.
35 I the Lord haue said, Certainely I will doe so to all this wicked company, that are gathered together against me: for in this wildernesse they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
35 Eu, o Senhor , falei. Assim farei a toda esta má congregação, que se levantou contra mim; neste deserto, se consumirão e aí morrerão.”
36 And the men which Moses had sent to search the land (which, when they came againe, made all the people to murmure against him, and brought vp a slander vpon the lande)
36 Os homens que Moisés havia mandado para espiar a terra e que, voltando, fizeram murmurar toda a congregação contra ele, falando mal da terra,
37 Euen those men that did bring vp that vile slander vpon the land, shall die by a plague before the Lord.
37 esses mesmos homens que falaram mal da terra morreram de praga diante do Senhor .
38 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh, of those men that went to search the land, shall liue.
38 Mas Josué, filho de Num, e Calebe, filho de Jefoné, que eram dos homens que foram espiar a terra, sobreviveram.
39 Then Moses tolde these sayings vnto all the children of Israel, and the people sorowed greatly.
39 Moisés falou estas palavras a todos os filhos de Israel, e o povo ficou muito triste.
40 And they rose vp earely in the morning, and gate them vp into the toppe of the mountaine, saying, Loe, we be readie, to goe vp to the place which the Lord hath promised: for wee haue sinned.
40 Levantaram-se de manhã cedo e subiram ao alto do monte, dizendo: — Aqui estamos e subiremos ao lugar que o
41 But Moses said, Wherefore transgresse yee thus the commandement of the Lord? it will not so come well to passe.
41 Porém Moisés respondeu: — Por que vocês estão transgredindo o mandado do
42 Goe not vp (for the Lord is not among you) lest ye be ouerthrowe before your enemies.
42 Não vão, porque o Senhor não estará no meio de vocês, e vocês serão derrotados pelos seus inimigos.
43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sworde: for in as much as ye are turned away from the Lord, the Lord also will not be with you.
43 Porque os amalequitas e os cananeus estão logo ali adiante, e vocês cairão à espada. Uma vez que se desviaram do Senhor , o Senhor não estará com vocês.
44 Yet they presumed obstinately to goe vp to the top of the mountaine: but the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and Moses departed not out of the campe.
44 Contudo, eles teimaram em querer entrar na região montanhosa. No entanto, a arca da aliança do Senhor e Moisés não saíram do meio do arraial.
45 Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites, which dwelt in that mountaine, came downe and smote them, and consumed them vnto Hormah.
45 Então os amalequitas e os cananeus que habitavam na região montanhosa desceram e os atacaram, derrotando-os até Horma.
