Are|strong="G3588" we|strong="G2443" to|strong="G2443" continue|strong="G1961" to|strong="G2443" sin, in|strong="G1961" order|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" God|strong="G3004"’s loving kindness may|strong="G2443" be|strong="G2443" multiplied?
2 Heaven forbid|strong="G1096"! We|strong="G1722" became|strong="G1096" dead to|strong="G1722" sin, so|strong="G3361" how|strong="G4459" can|strong="G4459" we|strong="G1722" go on|strong="G1722" living|strong="G2198" in|strong="G1722" it|strong="G1096"?
3 Or|strong="G2228" can it|strong="G3754" be|strong="G1519" that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G3754" do|strong="G2228" not know that|strong="G3754" all|strong="G3745" of|strong="G2424" us|strong="G1519", who|strong="G3588" were|strong="G3588" baptised into|strong="G1519" union with|strong="G1519" Christ|strong="G5547" Jesus|strong="G2424", in|strong="G1519" our|strong="G2424" baptism shared his|strong="G1519" death|strong="G2288"?
4 Consequently|strong="G2532", through|strong="G1223" sharing his|strong="G1223" death|strong="G2288" in|strong="G1722" our|strong="G2532" baptism, we|strong="G2249" were|strong="G3588" buried|strong="G4916" with|strong="G1722" him|strong="G3588"; so|strong="G3779" that|strong="G2443", just|strong="G5618" as|strong="G5618" Christ|strong="G5547" was|strong="G3588" raised|strong="G1453" from|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" dead|strong="G3498" by|strong="G1223" a|strong="G2532" manifestation of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" Father|strong="G3962"’s power, so|strong="G3779" we|strong="G2249" also|strong="G2532" may|strong="G2532" live|strong="G4043" a|strong="G2532" new life|strong="G2222".
5 If|strong="G1487" we|strong="G1063" have|strong="G2532" become|strong="G1096" united|strong="G4854" with|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" by|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" act symbolic of|strong="G2532" his|strong="G2532" death|strong="G2288", surely we|strong="G1063" will|strong="G1510" also|strong="G2532" become|strong="G1096" united|strong="G4854" with|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" by|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" act symbolic of|strong="G2532" his|strong="G2532" resurrection.
6 We|strong="G2249" recognise the|strong="G3588" truth that|strong="G3754" our old|strong="G3820" self was|strong="G3588" crucified|strong="G4957" with|strong="G4957" Christ, in|strong="G3588" order|strong="G2443" that|strong="G3754" the|strong="G3588" body|strong="G4983", the|strong="G3588" stronghold of|strong="G4983" sin, might|strong="G3778" be|strong="G2443" rendered powerless|strong="G2673", so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G3754" we|strong="G2249" should|strong="G3588" no|strong="G3371" longer|strong="G3371" be|strong="G2443" slaves|strong="G1398" to|strong="G2443" sin.
7 For|strong="G1063" the|strong="G3588" man who|strong="G3588" has so|strong="G1063" died|strong="G3588" has been pronounced righteous|strong="G1344" and|strong="G3588" released from|strong="G3588" sin.
8 And|strong="G2532" our|strong="G2532" belief is|strong="G5547", that|strong="G3754", as|strong="G1161" we|strong="G3754" have|strong="G2532" shared Christ|strong="G5547"’s death, we|strong="G3754" will|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" share his|strong="G2532" life.
9 We|strong="G3754" know|strong="G1492", indeed, that|strong="G3754" Christ|strong="G5547", having|strong="G1492" once risen|strong="G1453" from|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1537" dead|strong="G3498", will|strong="G3748" not|strong="G3765" die|strong="G2288" again|strong="G1453". Death|strong="G2288" has|strong="G5547" power over|strong="G2961" him|strong="G1537" no|strong="G3765" longer|strong="G3765".
10 For|strong="G1063" the|strong="G1161" death that|strong="G3739" he|strong="G1161" died|strong="G3588" was|strong="G3588" a|strong="G1161" death to|strong="G1161" sin, once|strong="G2178" and|strong="G1161" for|strong="G1063" all|strong="G1161". But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G1161" life|strong="G2198" that|strong="G3739" he|strong="G1161" now|strong="G1161" lives|strong="G2198", he|strong="G1161" lives|strong="G2198" for|strong="G1063" God|strong="G2316".
11 So|strong="G3779" let|strong="G1161" it|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" with|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5210" – regard|strong="G3049" yourselves|strong="G1438" as|strong="G1722" dead|strong="G3498" to|strong="G2532" sin, but|strong="G1161" as|strong="G1722" living|strong="G2198" for|strong="G1161" God|strong="G2316", through|strong="G1722" union with|strong="G1722" Christ|strong="G5547" Jesus|strong="G2424".
12 Therefore|strong="G3767" do|strong="G3361" not|strong="G3361" let|strong="G3767" sin reign in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G1722" mortal|strong="G2349" bodies|strong="G4983" and|strong="G3767" compel you|strong="G5210" to|strong="G1519" obey|strong="G5219" its|strong="G5219" cravings.
13 Do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3366" offer any|strong="G2198" part|strong="G2532" of|strong="G1537" your|strong="G2532" bodies|strong="G3196" to|strong="G2532" sin, in|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" cause|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1537" unrighteousness, but|strong="G2532" once|strong="G3366" for|strong="G2532" all|strong="G2532" offer yourselves|strong="G1438" to|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" (as|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588", though|strong="G2532" once|strong="G3366" dead|strong="G3498", now|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" life|strong="G2198"), and|strong="G2532" devote every|strong="G2532" part|strong="G2532" of|strong="G1537" your|strong="G2532" bodies|strong="G3196" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" cause|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1537" righteousness|strong="G1343".
14 For|strong="G1063" sin will|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" lord|strong="G2961" it|strong="G1063" over|strong="G2961" you|strong="G5210". You|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" living under|strong="G5259" the|strong="G1063" reign, not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G5259" Law|strong="G3551", but|strong="G1063" of|strong="G5259" love.
15 What|strong="G5101" follows, then|strong="G3767"? Are|strong="G1510" we|strong="G3754" to|strong="G3756" sin because|strong="G3754" we|strong="G3754" are|strong="G1510" living under|strong="G5259" the|strong="G3754" reign of|strong="G5259" love and|strong="G3767" not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G5259" Law|strong="G3551"? Heaven forbid|strong="G1096"!
16 Surely you|strong="G3739" know|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" when|strong="G1492" you|strong="G3739" offer yourselves|strong="G1438" as|strong="G1519" servants|strong="G1401", to|strong="G1519" obey|strong="G5219" anyone|strong="G3739", you|strong="G3739" are|strong="G1510" the|strong="G1519" servants|strong="G1401" of|strong="G1401" the|strong="G1519" person|strong="G3739" whom|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" obey|strong="G5219", whether|strong="G3739" the|strong="G1519" service be|strong="G1510" a|strong="G1519" service to|strong="G1519" sin which|strong="G3739" leads|strong="G1519" to|strong="G1519" death|strong="G2288", or|strong="G2228" a|strong="G1519" service to|strong="G1519" duty which|strong="G3739" leads|strong="G1519" to|strong="G1519" righteousness|strong="G1343".
17 God|strong="G2316" be|strong="G1510" thanked|strong="G5485" that|strong="G3754", though|strong="G1161" you|strong="G3739" were|strong="G1510" once|strong="G3739" servants|strong="G1401" of|strong="G1537" sin, yet|strong="G1161" you|strong="G3739" learned to|strong="G1519" give|strong="G3860" hearty obedience to|strong="G1519" that|strong="G3754" form|strong="G5179" of|strong="G1537" doctrine|strong="G1322" under|strong="G1537" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" were|strong="G1510" placed.
18 Set|strong="G1659" free|strong="G1659" from|strong="G3588" the|strong="G1161" control of|strong="G1343" sin, you|strong="G1659" became|strong="G1402" servants|strong="G1402" to|strong="G1161" righteousness|strong="G1343".
19 I|strong="G2532" can|strong="G3004" but|strong="G2532" speak|strong="G3004" as|strong="G5618" people|strong="G4561" do|strong="G2532" because|strong="G1223" of|strong="G1223" the|strong="G2532" weakness of|strong="G1223" your|strong="G1223" earthly|strong="G4561" nature. Once you|strong="G5210" offered every|strong="G2532" part|strong="G2532" of|strong="G1223" your|strong="G1223" bodies|strong="G3196" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" service of|strong="G1223" impurity, and|strong="G2532" of|strong="G1223" wickedness, which|strong="G3588" leads|strong="G1519" to|strong="G1519" further wickedness. Now|strong="G3568", in|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" same|strong="G3779" way|strong="G3779", offer them|strong="G3588" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" service of|strong="G1223" righteousness|strong="G1343", which|strong="G3588" leads|strong="G1519" to|strong="G1519" holiness.
20 While|strong="G1510" you|strong="G1510" were|strong="G1510" still servants|strong="G1401" of|strong="G1401" sin, you|strong="G1510" were|strong="G1510" free|strong="G1658" as|strong="G1063" regards righteousness|strong="G1343".
21 But|strong="G3767" what|strong="G5101" were|strong="G3588" the|strong="G1909" fruits|strong="G2590" that|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" reaped|strong="G3588" from|strong="G3588" those|strong="G3588" things|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1909" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" are|strong="G3588" now|strong="G3568" ashamed|strong="G1870"? For|strong="G1063" the|strong="G1909" end|strong="G5056" of|strong="G1909" such|strong="G3588" things|strong="G3588" is|strong="G3588" death|strong="G2288".
22 But|strong="G1161" now|strong="G1161" that|strong="G3588" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G2192" been|strong="G2192" set|strong="G1659" free|strong="G1659" from|strong="G3588" the|strong="G1519" control of|strong="G2316" sin, and|strong="G1161" have|strong="G2192" become|strong="G1161" servants|strong="G1402" to|strong="G1519" God|strong="G2316", the|strong="G1519" fruit|strong="G2590" that|strong="G3588" you|strong="G5210" reap|strong="G2192" is|strong="G3588" an|strong="G2192" ever|strong="G1519" increasing holiness, and|strong="G1161" the|strong="G1519" end|strong="G5056" eternal life|strong="G2222".
23 The|strong="G1722" wages|strong="G3800" of|strong="G2316" sin are|strong="G3588" death|strong="G2288", but|strong="G1161" the|strong="G1722" gift|strong="G5486" of|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316" is|strong="G3588" eternal life|strong="G2222", through|strong="G1722" union with|strong="G1722" Christ|strong="G5547" Jesus|strong="G2424", our|strong="G2316" Lord|strong="G2962".
