1 And Naomi|strong="H5281" had a kinsman|strong="H4129" of her husband’s|strong="H0376", a mighty|strong="H1368" man|strong="H0376" of wealth|strong="H2428", of the family|strong="H4940" of Elimelech|strong="H0458"; and his name|strong="H8034" was Boaz|strong="H1162".
2 And Ruth|strong="H7327" the Moabitess|strong="H4125" said|strong="H0559" unto Naomi|strong="H5281", Let me now go|strong="H3212" to the field|strong="H7704", and glean|strong="H3950" ears of corn|strong="H7641" after|strong="H0310" him in whose sight|strong="H5869" I shall find|strong="H4672" grace|strong="H2580". And she said|strong="H0559" unto her, Go|strong="H3212", my daughter|strong="H1323".
3 And she went|strong="H3212", and came|strong="H0935", and gleaned|strong="H3950" in the field|strong="H7704" after|strong="H0310" the reapers|strong="H7114": and her hap|strong="H4745" was to light|strong="H7136" on a part|strong="H2513" of the field|strong="H7704" belonging unto Boaz|strong="H1162", who was of the kindred|strong="H4940" of Elimelech|strong="H0458".
4 And, behold, Boaz|strong="H1162" came|strong="H0935" from Beth-lehem|strong="H1035", and said|strong="H0559" unto the reapers|strong="H7114", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* be with you. And they answered|strong="H0559" him, The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* bless|strong="H1288" thee.
5 Then said|strong="H0559" Boaz|strong="H1162" unto his servant|strong="H5288" that was set|strong="H5324" over the reapers|strong="H7114", Whose damsel|strong="H5291" is this?
6 And the servant|strong="H5288" that was set|strong="H5324" over the reapers|strong="H7114" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", It is the Moabitish|strong="H4125" damsel|strong="H5291" that came back|strong="H7725" with Naomi|strong="H5281" out of the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124":
7 And she said|strong="H0559", I pray you, let me glean|strong="H3950" and gather|strong="H0622" after|strong="H0310" the reapers|strong="H7114" among the sheaves|strong="H6016": so she came|strong="H0935", and hath continued|strong="H5975" even|strong="H0227" from the morning|strong="H1242" until now, that she tarried|strong="H3427" a little|strong="H4592" in the house|strong="H1004".
8 Then said|strong="H0559" Boaz|strong="H1162" unto Ruth|strong="H7327", Hearest|strong="H8085" thou not, my daughter|strong="H1323"? Go|strong="H3212" not to glean|strong="H3950" in another|strong="H0312" field|strong="H7704", neither go|strong="H5674" from hence, but abide|strong="H1692" here fast by my maidens|strong="H5291":
9 Let thine eyes|strong="H5869" be on the field|strong="H7704" that they do reap|strong="H7114", and go|strong="H1980" thou after|strong="H0310" them: have I not charged|strong="H6680" the young men|strong="H5288" that they shall not touch|strong="H5060" thee? and when thou art athirst|strong="H6770", go|strong="H1980" unto the vessels|strong="H3627", and drink|strong="H8354" of that which the young men|strong="H5288" have drawn|strong="H7579".
10 Then she fell|strong="H5307" on her face|strong="H6440", and bowed|strong="H7812" herself to the ground|strong="H0776", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Why have I found|strong="H4672" grace|strong="H2580" in thine eyes|strong="H5869", that thou shouldest take knowledge|strong="H5234" of me, seeing I am a stranger|strong="H5237"?
11 And Boaz|strong="H1162" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559" unto her, It hath fully|strong="H5046" been shewed|strong="H5046" me, all that thou hast done|strong="H6213" unto thy mother in law|strong="H2545" since|strong="H0310" the death|strong="H4194" of thine husband|strong="H0376": and how thou hast left|strong="H5800" thy father|strong="H0001" and thy mother|strong="H0517", and the land|strong="H0776" of thy nativity|strong="H4138", and art come|strong="H3212" unto a people|strong="H5971" which thou knewest|strong="H3045" not heretofore|strong="H8543".
12 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* recompense|strong="H7999" thy work|strong="H6467", and a full|strong="H8003" reward|strong="H4909" be given thee of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", under whose wings|strong="H3671" thou art come|strong="H0935" to trust|strong="H2620".
13 Then she said|strong="H0559", Let me find|strong="H4672" favour|strong="H2580" in thy sight|strong="H5869", my lord|strong="H0113"; for that thou hast comforted|strong="H5162" me, and for that thou hast spoken|strong="H1696" friendly|strong="H3820" unto thine handmaid|strong="H8198", though I be not like unto one|strong="H0259" of thine handmaidens|strong="H8198".
14 And Boaz|strong="H1162" said|strong="H0559" unto her, At mealtime|strong="H6256" come|strong="H5066" thou hither|strong="H1988", and eat|strong="H0398" of the bread|strong="H3899", and dip|strong="H2881" thy morsel|strong="H6595" in the vinegar|strong="H2558". And she sat|strong="H3427" beside|strong="H6654" the reapers|strong="H7114": and he reached|strong="H6642" her parched|strong="H7039" corn, and she did eat|strong="H0398", and was sufficed|strong="H7646", and left|strong="H3498".
15 And when she was risen up|strong="H6965" to glean|strong="H3950", Boaz|strong="H1162" commanded|strong="H6680" his young men|strong="H5288", saying|strong="H0559", Let her glean|strong="H3950" even among the sheaves|strong="H6016", and reproach|strong="H3637" her not:
16 And let fall|strong="H7997" also some of the handfuls|strong="H6653" of purpose|strong="H7997" for her, and leave|strong="H5800" them, that she may glean|strong="H3950" them, and rebuke|strong="H1605" her not.
17 So she gleaned|strong="H3950" in the field|strong="H7704" until even|strong="H6153", and beat out|strong="H2251" that she had gleaned|strong="H3950": and it was about an ephah|strong="H0374" of barley|strong="H8184".
18 And she took it up|strong="H5375", and went|strong="H0935" into the city|strong="H5892": and her mother in law|strong="H2545" saw|strong="H7200" what she had gleaned|strong="H3950": and she brought forth|strong="H3318", and gave|strong="H5414" to her that she had reserved|strong="H3498" after she was sufficed|strong="H7648".
19 And her mother in law|strong="H2545" said|strong="H0559" unto her, Where hast thou gleaned|strong="H3950" to day|strong="H3117"? and where|strong="H0375" wroughtest|strong="H6213" thou? blessed|strong="H1288" be he that did take knowledge|strong="H5234" of thee. And she shewed|strong="H5046" her mother in law|strong="H2545" with whom she had wrought|strong="H6213", and said|strong="H0559", The man’s|strong="H0376" name|strong="H8034" with whom I wrought|strong="H6213" to day|strong="H3117" is Boaz|strong="H1162".
20 And Naomi|strong="H5281" said|strong="H0559" unto her daughter in law|strong="H3618", Blessed|strong="H1288" be he of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, who hath not left off|strong="H5800" his kindness|strong="H2617" to the living|strong="H2416" and to the dead|strong="H4191". And Naomi|strong="H5281" said|strong="H0559" unto her, The man|strong="H0376" is near of kin|strong="H7138" unto us, one of our next kinsmen|strong="H1350".
21 And Ruth|strong="H7327" the Moabitess|strong="H4125" said|strong="H0559", He said|strong="H0559" unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast|strong="H1692" by my young men|strong="H5288", until they have ended|strong="H3615" all my harvest|strong="H7105".
22 And Naomi|strong="H5281" said|strong="H0559" unto Ruth|strong="H7327" her daughter in law|strong="H3618", It is good|strong="H2896", my daughter|strong="H1323", that thou go out|strong="H3318" with his maidens|strong="H5291", that they meet|strong="H6293" thee not in any other|strong="H0312" field|strong="H7704".
23 So she kept fast|strong="H1692" by the maidens|strong="H5291" of Boaz|strong="H1162" to glean|strong="H3950" unto the end|strong="H3615" of barley|strong="H8184" harvest|strong="H7105" and of wheat|strong="H2406" harvest|strong="H7105"; and dwelt|strong="H3427" with her mother in law|strong="H2545".
