Now it came to pass in the days|strong="H3117" when the judges|strong="H8199" ruled|strong="H8199", that there was a famine|strong="H7458" in the land|strong="H0776". And a certain man|strong="H0376" of Beth-lehem-judah|strong="H1035" went|strong="H3212" to sojourn|strong="H1481" in the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124", he, and his wife|strong="H0802", and his two|strong="H8147" sons|strong="H1121".
And the name|strong="H8034" of the man|strong="H0376" was Elimelech|strong="H0458", and the name|strong="H8034" of his wife|strong="H0802" Naomi|strong="H5281", and the name|strong="H8034" of his two|strong="H8147" sons|strong="H1121" Mahlon|strong="H4248" and Chilion|strong="H3630", Ephrathites|strong="H0673" of Beth-lehem-judah|strong="H1035". And they came|strong="H0935" into the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124", and continued there.
And Elimelech|strong="H0458" Naomi’s|strong="H5281" husband|strong="H0376" died|strong="H4191"; and she was left|strong="H7604", and her two|strong="H8147" sons|strong="H1121".
And they took|strong="H5375" them wives|strong="H0802" of the women|strong="H0802" of Moab|strong="H4125"; the name|strong="H8034" of the one|strong="H0259" was Orpah|strong="H6204", and the name|strong="H8034" of the other|strong="H8145" Ruth|strong="H7327": and they dwelled|strong="H3427" there about ten|strong="H6235" years|strong="H8141".
And Mahlon|strong="H4248" and Chilion|strong="H3630" died|strong="H4191" also both|strong="H8147" of them; and the woman|strong="H0802" was left|strong="H7604" of her two|strong="H8147" sons|strong="H3206" and her husband|strong="H0376".
Then she arose|strong="H6965" with her daughters in law|strong="H3618", that she might return|strong="H7725" from the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124": for she had heard|strong="H8085" in the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124" how that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had visited|strong="H6485" his people|strong="H5971" in giving|strong="H5414" them bread|strong="H3899".
Wherefore she went forth|strong="H3318" out of the place|strong="H4725" where she was, and her two|strong="H8147" daughters in law|strong="H3618" with her; and they went|strong="H3212" on the way|strong="H1870" to return|strong="H7725" unto the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063".
And Naomi|strong="H5281" said|strong="H0559" unto her two|strong="H8147" daughters in law|strong="H3618", Go|strong="H3212", return|strong="H7725" each|strong="H0802" to her mother’s|strong="H0517" house|strong="H1004": the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* deal|strong="H6213" kindly|strong="H2617" with you, as ye have dealt|strong="H6213" with the dead|strong="H4191", and with me.
The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* grant|strong="H5414" you that ye may find|strong="H4672" rest|strong="H4496", each|strong="H0802" of you in the house|strong="H1004" of her husband|strong="H0376". Then she kissed|strong="H5401" them; and they lifted up|strong="H5375" their voice|strong="H6963", and wept|strong="H1058".
And they said|strong="H0559" unto her, Surely we will return|strong="H7725" with thee unto thy people|strong="H5971".
And Naomi|strong="H5281" said|strong="H0559", Turn again|strong="H7725", my daughters|strong="H1323": why will ye go|strong="H3212" with me? are there yet any more sons|strong="H1121" in my womb|strong="H4578", that they may be your husbands|strong="H0582"?
Turn again|strong="H7725", my daughters|strong="H1323", go|strong="H3212" your way; for I am too old|strong="H2204" to have an husband|strong="H0376". If I should say|strong="H0559", I have|strong="H3426" hope|strong="H8615", if I should have an husband|strong="H0376" also to night|strong="H3915", and should also bear|strong="H3205" sons|strong="H1121";
Would ye tarry|strong="H7663" for them|strong="H3860" till they were grown|strong="H1431"? would ye stay|strong="H5702" for them|strong="H3860" from having husbands|strong="H0376"? nay, my daughters|strong="H1323"; for it grieveth|strong="H4843" me much|strong="H3966" for your sakes that the hand|strong="H3027" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is gone out|strong="H3318" against me.
And they lifted up|strong="H5375" their voice|strong="H6963", and wept again|strong="H1058": and Orpah|strong="H6204" kissed|strong="H5401" her mother in law|strong="H2545"; but Ruth|strong="H7327" clave|strong="H1692" unto her.
And she said|strong="H0559", Behold, thy sister in law|strong="H2994" is gone back|strong="H7725" unto her people|strong="H5971", and unto her gods|strong="H0430": return|strong="H7725" thou after|strong="H0310" thy sister in law|strong="H2994".
And Ruth|strong="H7327" said|strong="H0559", Intreat|strong="H6293" me not to leave|strong="H5800" thee, or to return|strong="H7725" from following after|strong="H0310" thee: for whither thou goest|strong="H3212", I will go|strong="H3212"; and where thou lodgest|strong="H3885", I will lodge|strong="H3885": thy people|strong="H5971" shall be my people|strong="H5971", and thy God|strong="H0430" my God|strong="H0430":
Where thou diest|strong="H4191", will I die|strong="H4191", and there will I be buried|strong="H6912": the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* do|strong="H6213" so to me, and more|strong="H3254" also, if ought but death|strong="H4194" part|strong="H6504" thee and me.
When she saw|strong="H7200" that she was stedfastly minded|strong="H0553" to go|strong="H3212" with her, then she left|strong="H2308" speaking|strong="H1696" unto her.
So they two|strong="H8147" went|strong="H3212" until they came|strong="H0935" to Beth-lehem|strong="H1035". And it came to pass, when they were come|strong="H0935" to Beth-lehem|strong="H1035", that all the city|strong="H5892" was moved|strong="H1949" about them, and they said|strong="H0559", Is this Naomi|strong="H5281"?
And she said|strong="H0559" unto them, Call|strong="H7121" me not Naomi|strong="H5281", call|strong="H7121" me Mara|strong="H4755": for the Almighty|strong="H7706" hath dealt very|strong="H3966" bitterly|strong="H4843" with me.
I went out|strong="H1980" full|strong="H4392", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath brought me home again|strong="H7725" empty|strong="H7387": why then call|strong="H7121" ye me Naomi|strong="H5281", seeing the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath testified|strong="H6030" against me, and the Almighty|strong="H7706" hath afflicted|strong="H7489" me?
So Naomi|strong="H5281" returned|strong="H7725", and Ruth|strong="H7327" the Moabitess|strong="H4125", her daughter in law|strong="H3618", with her, which returned|strong="H7725" out of the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124": and they came|strong="H0935" to Beth-lehem|strong="H1035" in the beginning|strong="H8462" of barley|strong="H8184" harvest|strong="H7105".
