1 And when king|strong="H4428" Arad|strong="H6166" the Canaanite|strong="H3669", which dwelt|strong="H3427" in the south|strong="H5045", heard|strong="H8085" tell that Israel|strong="H3478" came|strong="H0935" by the way|strong="H1870" of the spies|strong="H0871"; then he fought|strong="H3898" against Israel|strong="H3478", and took|strong="H7617" some of them prisoners|strong="H7628".
2 And Israel|strong="H3478" vowed|strong="H5087" a vow|strong="H5088" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", If thou wilt indeed|strong="H5414" deliver|strong="H5414" this people|strong="H5971" into my hand|strong="H3027", then I will utterly destroy|strong="H2763" their cities|strong="H5892".
3 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hearkened|strong="H8085" to the voice|strong="H6963" of Israel|strong="H3478", and delivered up|strong="H5414" the Canaanites|strong="H3669"; and they utterly destroyed|strong="H2763" them and their cities|strong="H5892": and he called|strong="H7121" the name|strong="H8034" of the place|strong="H4725" Hormah|strong="H2767".
4 And they journeyed|strong="H5265" from mount|strong="H2022" Hor|strong="H2023" by the way|strong="H1870" of the Red|strong="H5488" sea|strong="H3220", to compass|strong="H5437" the land|strong="H0776" of Edom|strong="H0123": and the soul|strong="H5315" of the people|strong="H5971" was much discouraged|strong="H7114" because of the way|strong="H1870".
5 And the people|strong="H5971" spake|strong="H1696" against God|strong="H0430", and against Moses|strong="H4872", Wherefore have ye brought us up|strong="H5927" out of Egypt|strong="H4714" to die|strong="H4191" in the wilderness|strong="H4057"? for there is no bread|strong="H3899", neither is there any water|strong="H4325"; and our soul|strong="H5315" loatheth|strong="H6973" this light|strong="H7052" bread|strong="H3899".
6 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sent|strong="H7971" fiery|strong="H8314" serpents|strong="H5175" among the people|strong="H5971", and they bit|strong="H5391" the people|strong="H5971"; and much|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971" of Israel|strong="H3478" died|strong="H4191".
7 Therefore the people|strong="H5971" came|strong="H0935" to Moses|strong="H4872", and said|strong="H0559", We have sinned|strong="H2398", for we have spoken|strong="H1696" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and against thee; pray|strong="H6419" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that he take away|strong="H5493" the serpents|strong="H5175" from us. And Moses|strong="H4872" prayed|strong="H6419" for the people|strong="H5971".
8 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872", Make|strong="H6213" thee a fiery serpent|strong="H8314", and set|strong="H7760" it upon a pole|strong="H5251": and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten|strong="H5391", when he looketh|strong="H7200" upon it, shall live|strong="H2425".
9 And Moses|strong="H4872" made|strong="H6213" a serpent|strong="H5175" of brass|strong="H5178", and put|strong="H7760" it upon a pole|strong="H5251", and it came to pass, that if a serpent|strong="H5175" had bitten|strong="H5391" any man|strong="H0376", when he beheld|strong="H5027" the serpent|strong="H5175" of brass|strong="H5178", he lived|strong="H2425".
10 And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" set forward|strong="H5265", and pitched|strong="H2583" in Oboth|strong="H0088".
11 And they journeyed|strong="H5265" from Oboth|strong="H0088", and pitched|strong="H2583" at Ije-abarim|strong="H5863", in the wilderness|strong="H4057" which is before|strong="H6440" Moab|strong="H4124", toward the sunrising|strong="H4217".
12 From thence they removed|strong="H5265", and pitched|strong="H2583" in the valley|strong="H5158" of Zared|strong="H2218".
13 From thence they removed|strong="H5265", and pitched|strong="H2583" on the other side|strong="H5676" of Arnon|strong="H0769", which is in the wilderness|strong="H4057" that cometh out|strong="H3318" of the coasts|strong="H1366" of the Amorites|strong="H0567": for Arnon|strong="H0769" is the border|strong="H1366" of Moab|strong="H4124", between Moab|strong="H4124" and the Amorites|strong="H0567".
14 Wherefore it is said|strong="H0559" in the book|strong="H5612" of the wars|strong="H4421" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, What he did|strong="H2052" in the Red sea|strong="H5492", and in the brooks|strong="H5158" of Arnon|strong="H0769",
15 And at the stream|strong="H0793" of the brooks|strong="H5158" that goeth down|strong="H5186" to the dwelling|strong="H3427" of Ar|strong="H6144", and lieth|strong="H8172" upon the border|strong="H1366" of Moab|strong="H4124".
16 And from thence they went to Beer|strong="H0876": that is the well|strong="H0875" whereof the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872", Gather|strong="H0622" the people|strong="H5971" together|strong="H0622", and I will give|strong="H5414" them water|strong="H4325".
17 Then Israel|strong="H3478" sang|strong="H7891" this song|strong="H7892", Spring up|strong="H5927", O well|strong="H0875"; sing|strong="H6030" ye unto it:
18 The princes|strong="H8269" digged|strong="H2658" the well|strong="H0875", the nobles|strong="H5081" of the people|strong="H5971" digged|strong="H3738" it, by the direction of the lawgiver|strong="H2710", with their staves|strong="H4938". And from the wilderness|strong="H4057" they went to Mattanah|strong="H4980":
19 And from Mattanah|strong="H4980" to Nahaliel|strong="H5160": and from Nahaliel|strong="H5160" to Bamoth|strong="H1120":
20 And from Bamoth|strong="H1120" in the valley|strong="H1516", that is in the country|strong="H7704" of Moab|strong="H4124", to the top|strong="H7218" of Pisgah|strong="H6449", which looketh|strong="H8259" toward|strong="H6440" Jeshimon|strong="H3452".
21 And Israel|strong="H3478" sent|strong="H7971" messengers|strong="H4397" unto Sihon|strong="H5511" king|strong="H4428" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", saying|strong="H0559",
22 Let me pass|strong="H5674" through thy land|strong="H0776": we will not turn|strong="H5186" into the fields|strong="H7704", or into the vineyards|strong="H3754"; we will not drink|strong="H8354" of the waters|strong="H4325" of the well|strong="H0875": but we will go along|strong="H3212" by the king’s|strong="H4428" high way|strong="H1870", until we be past|strong="H5674" thy borders|strong="H1366".
23 And Sihon|strong="H5511" would not suffer|strong="H5414" Israel|strong="H3478" to pass|strong="H5674" through his border|strong="H1366": but Sihon|strong="H5511" gathered|strong="H0622" all his people|strong="H5971" together|strong="H0622", and went out|strong="H3318" against|strong="H7125" Israel|strong="H3478" into the wilderness|strong="H4057": and he came|strong="H0935" to Jahaz|strong="H3096", and fought|strong="H3898" against Israel|strong="H3478".
24 And Israel|strong="H3478" smote|strong="H5221" him with the edge|strong="H6310" of the sword|strong="H2719", and possessed|strong="H3423" his land|strong="H0776" from Arnon|strong="H0769" unto Jabbok|strong="H2999", even unto the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983": for the border|strong="H1366" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983" was strong|strong="H5794".
25 And Israel|strong="H3478" took|strong="H3947" all these cities|strong="H5892": and Israel|strong="H3478" dwelt|strong="H3427" in all the cities|strong="H5892" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", in Heshbon|strong="H2809", and in all the villages|strong="H1323" thereof.
26 For Heshbon|strong="H2809" was the city|strong="H5892" of Sihon|strong="H5511" the king|strong="H4428" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", who had fought|strong="H3898" against the former|strong="H7223" king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124", and taken|strong="H3947" all his land|strong="H0776" out of his hand|strong="H3027", even unto Arnon|strong="H0769".
27 Wherefore they that speak in proverbs|strong="H4911" say|strong="H0559", Come|strong="H0935" into Heshbon|strong="H2809", let the city|strong="H5892" of Sihon|strong="H5511" be built|strong="H1129" and prepared|strong="H3559":
28 For there is a fire|strong="H0784" gone out|strong="H3318" of Heshbon|strong="H2809", a flame|strong="H3852" from the city|strong="H7151" of Sihon|strong="H5511": it hath consumed|strong="H0398" Ar|strong="H6144" of Moab|strong="H4124", and the lords of the high places|strong="H1181" of Arnon|strong="H0769".
29 Woe|strong="H0188" to thee, Moab|strong="H4124"! thou art undone|strong="H0006", O people|strong="H5971" of Chemosh|strong="H3645": he hath given|strong="H5414" his sons|strong="H1121" that escaped|strong="H6412", and his daughters|strong="H1323", into captivity|strong="H7622" unto Sihon|strong="H5511" king|strong="H4428" of the Amorites|strong="H0567".
30 We have shot|strong="H3384" at them; Heshbon|strong="H2809" is perished|strong="H0006" even unto Dibon|strong="H1769", and we have laid them waste|strong="H8074" even unto Nophah|strong="H5302", which reacheth unto Medeba|strong="H4311".
31 Thus Israel|strong="H3478" dwelt|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776" of the Amorites|strong="H0567".
32 And Moses|strong="H4872" sent|strong="H7971" to spy out|strong="H7270" Jaazer|strong="H3270", and they took|strong="H3920" the villages|strong="H1323" thereof, and drove out|strong="H3423" the Amorites|strong="H0567" that were there.
33 And they turned|strong="H6437" and went up|strong="H5927" by the way|strong="H1870" of Bashan|strong="H1316": and Og|strong="H5747" the king|strong="H4428" of Bashan|strong="H1316" went out|strong="H3318" against|strong="H7125" them, he, and all his people|strong="H5971", to the battle|strong="H4421" at Edrei|strong="H0154".
34 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872", Fear|strong="H3372" him not: for I have delivered|strong="H5414" him into thy hand|strong="H3027", and all his people|strong="H5971", and his land|strong="H0776"; and thou shalt do|strong="H6213" to him as thou didst|strong="H6213" unto Sihon|strong="H5511" king|strong="H4428" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", which dwelt|strong="H3427" at Heshbon|strong="H2809".
35 So they smote|strong="H5221" him, and his sons|strong="H1121", and all his people|strong="H5971", until there was none|strong="H1115" left|strong="H7604" him alive|strong="H8300": and they possessed|strong="H3423" his land|strong="H0776".
