1 Then came|strong="H0935" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", even the whole congregation|strong="H5712", into the desert|strong="H4057" of Zin|strong="H6790" in the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320": and the people|strong="H5971" abode|strong="H3427" in Kadesh|strong="H6946"; and Miriam|strong="H4813" died|strong="H4191" there, and was buried|strong="H6912" there.
2 And there was no water|strong="H4325" for the congregation|strong="H5712": and they gathered|strong="H6950" themselves together against Moses|strong="H4872" and against Aaron|strong="H0175".
3 And the people|strong="H5971" chode|strong="H7378" with Moses|strong="H4872", and spake|strong="H0559", saying|strong="H0559", Would God that|strong="H3863" we had died|strong="H1478" when our brethren|strong="H0251" died|strong="H1478" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*!
4 And why have ye brought up|strong="H0935" the congregation|strong="H6951" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* into this wilderness|strong="H4057", that we and our cattle|strong="H1165" should die|strong="H4191" there?
5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up|strong="H5927" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", to bring|strong="H0935" us in unto this evil|strong="H7451" place|strong="H4725"? it is no place|strong="H4725" of seed|strong="H2233", or of figs|strong="H8384", or of vines|strong="H1612", or of pomegranates|strong="H7416"; neither is there any water|strong="H4325" to drink|strong="H8354".
6 And Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175" went|strong="H0935" from the presence|strong="H6440" of the assembly|strong="H6951" unto the door|strong="H6607" of the tabernacle|strong="H0168" of the congregation|strong="H4150", and they fell|strong="H5307" upon their faces|strong="H6440": and the glory|strong="H3519" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* appeared|strong="H7200" unto them.
7 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" unto Moses|strong="H4872", saying|strong="H0559",
8 Take|strong="H3947" the rod|strong="H4294", and gather|strong="H6950" thou the assembly|strong="H5712" together, thou, and Aaron|strong="H0175" thy brother|strong="H0251", and speak|strong="H1696" ye unto the rock|strong="H5553" before their eyes|strong="H5869"; and it shall give forth|strong="H5414" his water|strong="H4325", and thou shalt bring forth|strong="H3318" to them water|strong="H4325" out of the rock|strong="H5553": so thou shalt give|strong="H8248" the congregation|strong="H5712" and their beasts|strong="H1165" drink|strong="H8248".
9 And Moses|strong="H4872" took|strong="H3947" the rod|strong="H4294" from before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, as he commanded|strong="H6680" him.
10 And Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175" gathered|strong="H6950" the congregation|strong="H6951" together before|strong="H6440" the rock|strong="H5553", and he said|strong="H0559" unto them, Hear|strong="H8085" now, ye rebels|strong="H4784"; must we fetch|strong="H3318" you water|strong="H4325" out of this rock|strong="H5553"?
11 And Moses|strong="H4872" lifted up|strong="H7311" his hand|strong="H3027", and with his rod|strong="H4294" he smote|strong="H5221" the rock|strong="H5553" twice|strong="H6471": and the water|strong="H4325" came out|strong="H3318" abundantly|strong="H7227", and the congregation|strong="H5712" drank|strong="H8354", and their beasts|strong="H1165" also.
12 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175", Because ye believed|strong="H0539" me not, to sanctify|strong="H6942" me in the eyes|strong="H5869" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", therefore ye shall not bring|strong="H0935" this congregation|strong="H6951" into the land|strong="H0776" which I have given|strong="H5414" them.
13 This \+w is|strong="H1992"\+w* the water|strong="H4325" of Meribah|strong="H4809"; because the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" strove|strong="H7378" with the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and he was sanctified|strong="H6942" in them.
14 And Moses|strong="H4872" sent|strong="H7971" messengers|strong="H4397" from Kadesh|strong="H6946" unto the king|strong="H4428" of Edom|strong="H0123", Thus saith|strong="H0559" thy brother|strong="H0251" Israel|strong="H3478", Thou knowest|strong="H3045" all the travail|strong="H8513" that hath befallen|strong="H4672" us:
15 How our fathers|strong="H0001" went down|strong="H3381" into Egypt|strong="H4714", and we have dwelt|strong="H3427" in Egypt|strong="H4714" a long|strong="H7227" time|strong="H3117"; and the Egyptians|strong="H4714" vexed|strong="H7489" us, and our fathers|strong="H0001":
16 And when we cried|strong="H6817" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, he heard|strong="H8085" our voice|strong="H6963", and sent|strong="H7971" an angel|strong="H4397", and hath brought us forth|strong="H3318" out of Egypt|strong="H4714": and, behold, we are in Kadesh|strong="H6946", a city|strong="H5892" in the uttermost|strong="H7097" of thy border|strong="H1366":
17 Let us pass|strong="H5674", I pray thee, through thy country|strong="H0776": we will not pass|strong="H5674" through the fields|strong="H7704", or through the vineyards|strong="H3754", neither will we drink|strong="H8354" of the water|strong="H4325" of the wells|strong="H0875": we will go|strong="H3212" by the king’s|strong="H4428" high way|strong="H1870", we will not turn|strong="H5186" to the right hand|strong="H3225" nor to the left|strong="H8040", until we have passed|strong="H5674" thy borders|strong="H1366".
18 And Edom|strong="H0123" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Thou shalt not pass|strong="H5674" by me, lest I come out|strong="H3318" against|strong="H7125" thee with the sword|strong="H2719".
19 And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559" unto him, We will go|strong="H5927" by the high way|strong="H4546": and if I and my cattle|strong="H4735" drink|strong="H8354" of thy water|strong="H4325", then I will pay|strong="H5414" for it: I will only, without doing any thing|strong="H1697" else, go through|strong="H5674" on my feet|strong="H7272".
20 And he said|strong="H0559", Thou shalt not go through|strong="H5674". And Edom|strong="H0123" came out|strong="H3318" against|strong="H7125" him with much|strong="H3515" people|strong="H5971", and with a strong|strong="H2389" hand|strong="H3027".
21 Thus Edom|strong="H0123" refused|strong="H3985" to give|strong="H5414" Israel|strong="H3478" passage|strong="H5674" through his border|strong="H1366": wherefore Israel|strong="H3478" turned away|strong="H5186" from him.
22 And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", even the whole congregation|strong="H5712", journeyed|strong="H5265" from Kadesh|strong="H6946", and came|strong="H0935" unto mount|strong="H2022" Hor|strong="H2023".
23 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175" in mount|strong="H2022" Hor|strong="H2023", by the coast|strong="H1366" of the land|strong="H0776" of Edom|strong="H0123", saying|strong="H0559",
24 Aaron|strong="H0175" shall be gathered|strong="H0622" unto his people|strong="H5971": for he shall not enter|strong="H0935" into the land|strong="H0776" which I have given|strong="H5414" unto the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", because ye rebelled against|strong="H4784" my word|strong="H6310" at the water|strong="H4325" of Meribah|strong="H4809".
25 Take|strong="H3947" Aaron|strong="H0175" and Eleazar|strong="H0499" his son|strong="H1121", and bring them up|strong="H5927" unto mount|strong="H2022" Hor|strong="H2023":
26 And strip|strong="H6584" Aaron|strong="H0175" of his garments|strong="H0899", and put|strong="H3847" them upon Eleazar|strong="H0499" his son|strong="H1121": and Aaron|strong="H0175" shall be gathered|strong="H0622" unto his people, and shall die|strong="H4191" there.
27 And Moses|strong="H4872" did|strong="H6213" as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* commanded|strong="H6680": and they went up|strong="H5927" into mount|strong="H2022" Hor|strong="H2023" in the sight|strong="H5869" of all the congregation|strong="H5712".
28 And Moses|strong="H4872" stripped|strong="H6584" Aaron|strong="H0175" of his garments|strong="H0899", and put|strong="H3847" them upon Eleazar|strong="H0499" his son|strong="H1121"; and Aaron|strong="H0175" died|strong="H4191" there in the top|strong="H7218" of the mount|strong="H2022": and Moses|strong="H4872" and Eleazar|strong="H0499" came down|strong="H3381" from the mount|strong="H2022".
29 And when all the congregation|strong="H5712" saw|strong="H7200" that Aaron|strong="H0175" was dead|strong="H1478", they mourned|strong="H1058" for Aaron|strong="H0175" thirty|strong="H7970" days|strong="H3117", even all the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478".
