2 And|strong="G2532" saying|strong="G3004", Repent ye|strong="G3340": for|strong="G1063" the kingdom|strong="G0932" of heaven|strong="G3772" is at hand|strong="G1448".
3 For|strong="G1063" this|strong="G3778" is|strong="G2076" he that|strong="G3588" was spoken|strong="G4483" of|strong="G5259" by the prophet|strong="G4396" Esaias|strong="G2268", saying|strong="G3004", The voice|strong="G5456" of one crying|strong="G0994" in|strong="G1722" the wilderness|strong="G2048", Prepare ye|strong="G2090" the way|strong="G3598" of the Lord|strong="G2962", make|strong="G4160" his|strong="G0846" paths|strong="G5147" straight|strong="G2117".
4 And|strong="G1161" the same|strong="G0846" John|strong="G2491" had|strong="G2192" his|strong="G0846" raiment|strong="G1742" of|strong="G0575" camel’s|strong="G2574" hair|strong="G2359", and|strong="G2532" a leathern|strong="G1193" girdle|strong="G2223" about|strong="G4012" his|strong="G0846" loins|strong="G3751"; and|strong="G1161" his|strong="G0846" meat|strong="G5160" was|strong="G2258" locusts|strong="G0200" and|strong="G2532" wild|strong="G0066" honey|strong="G3192".
5 Then|strong="G5119" went out|strong="G1607" to|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" Judaea|strong="G2449", and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" the region round about|strong="G4066" Jordan|strong="G2446",
6 And|strong="G2532" were baptized|strong="G0907" of|strong="G5259" him|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" Jordan|strong="G2446", confessing|strong="G1843" their|strong="G0846" sins|strong="G0266".
7 But|strong="G1161" when he saw|strong="G1492" many|strong="G4183" of the Pharisees|strong="G5330" and|strong="G2532" Sadducees|strong="G4523" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1909" his|strong="G0846" baptism|strong="G0908", he said|strong="G2036" unto them|strong="G0846", O generation|strong="G1081" of vipers|strong="G2191", who|strong="G5101" hath warned|strong="G5263" you|strong="G5213" to flee|strong="G5343" from|strong="G0575" the wrath|strong="G3709" to come|strong="G3195"?
8 Bring forth|strong="G4160" therefore|strong="G3767" fruits|strong="G2590" meet|strong="G0514" for repentance|strong="G3341":
9 And|strong="G2532" think|strong="G1380" not|strong="G3361" to say|strong="G3004" within|strong="G1722" yourselves|strong="G1438", We have|strong="G2192" Abraham|strong="G0011" to|strong="G3962" our father|strong="G3962": for|strong="G1063" I say|strong="G3004" unto you|strong="G5213", that|strong="G3754" God|strong="G2316" is able|strong="G1410" of|strong="G1537" these|strong="G5130" stones|strong="G3037" to raise up|strong="G1453" children|strong="G5043" unto Abraham|strong="G0011".
10 And|strong="G1161" now|strong="G2235" also|strong="G2532" the axe|strong="G0513" is laid|strong="G2749" unto|strong="G4314" the root|strong="G4491" of the trees|strong="G1186": therefore|strong="G3767" every|strong="G3956" tree|strong="G1186" which bringeth|strong="G4160" not|strong="G3361" forth|strong="G4160" good|strong="G2570" fruit|strong="G2590" is hewn down|strong="G1581", and|strong="G2532" cast|strong="G0906" into|strong="G1519" the fire|strong="G4442".
11 I|strong="G1473" indeed|strong="G3303" baptize|strong="G0907" you|strong="G5209" with|strong="G1722" water|strong="G5204" unto|strong="G1519" repentance|strong="G3341": but|strong="G1161" he that|strong="G3588" cometh|strong="G2064" after|strong="G3694" me|strong="G3450" is|strong="G2076" mightier than|strong="G2478" I|strong="G3450", whose|strong="G3739" shoes|strong="G5266" I am|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" worthy|strong="G2425" to bear|strong="G0941": he|strong="G0846" shall baptize|strong="G0907" you|strong="G5209" with|strong="G1722" the Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151", and|strong="G2532" with fire|strong="G4442":
12 Whose|strong="G3739" fan|strong="G4425" is in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G0846" hand|strong="G5495", and|strong="G2532" he will throughly purge|strong="G1245" his|strong="G0846" floor|strong="G0257", and|strong="G2532" gather|strong="G4863" his|strong="G0846" wheat|strong="G4621" into|strong="G1519" the garner|strong="G0596"; but|strong="G1161" he will burn up|strong="G2618" the chaff|strong="G0892" with unquenchable|strong="G0762" fire|strong="G4442".
13 Then|strong="G5119" cometh|strong="G3854" Jesus|strong="G2424" from|strong="G0575" Galilee|strong="G1056" to|strong="G1909" Jordan|strong="G2446" unto|strong="G4314" John|strong="G2491", to be baptized|strong="G0907" of|strong="G5259" him|strong="G0846".
14 But|strong="G1161" John|strong="G2491" forbad|strong="G1254" him|strong="G0846", saying|strong="G3004", I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" need|strong="G5532" to be baptized|strong="G0907" of|strong="G5259" thee|strong="G4675", and|strong="G2532" comest|strong="G2064" thou|strong="G4771" to|strong="G4314" me|strong="G3165"?
15 And|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" answering|strong="G0611" said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", \+w Suffer|strong="G0863"\+w* \+add \+w it to be so|strong="G2076"\+w*\+add* \+w now|strong="G0737"\+w*: \+w for|strong="G1063"\+w* \+w thus|strong="G3779"\+w* \+w it becometh|strong="G4241"\+w* \+w us|strong="G2254"\+w* \+w to fulfil|strong="G4137"\+w* \+w all|strong="G3956"\+w* \+w righteousness|strong="G1343"\+w*. Then|strong="G5119" he suffered|strong="G0863" him|strong="G0846".
16 And|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G2424", when he was baptized|strong="G0907", went up|strong="G0305" straightway|strong="G2117" out|strong="G0575" of the water|strong="G5204": and|strong="G2532", lo|strong="G2400", the heavens|strong="G3772" were opened|strong="G0455" unto him|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" he saw|strong="G1492" the Spirit|strong="G4151" of God|strong="G2316" descending|strong="G2597" like|strong="G5616" a dove|strong="G4058", and|strong="G2532" lighting|strong="G2064" upon|strong="G1909" him|strong="G0846":
17 And|strong="G2532" lo|strong="G2400" a voice|strong="G5456" from|strong="G1537" heaven|strong="G3772", saying|strong="G3004", This|strong="G3778" is|strong="G2076" my|strong="G3450" beloved|strong="G0027" Son|strong="G5207", in|strong="G1722" whom|strong="G3739" I am well pleased|strong="G2106".
