Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020" the king|strong="H4430", unto all|strong="H3606" people|strong="H5972", nations|strong="H0524", and languages|strong="H3961", that dwell|strong="H1753" in all|strong="H3606" the earth|strong="H0772"; Peace|strong="H8001" be multiplied|strong="H7680" unto you.
I thought|strong="H6925" it good|strong="H8232" to shew|strong="H2324" the signs|strong="H0852" and wonders|strong="H8540" that the high|strong="H5943" God|strong="H0426" hath wrought|strong="H5648" toward|strong="H5974" me.
How|strong="H4101" great|strong="H7260" are his signs|strong="H0852"! and how|strong="H4101" mighty|strong="H8624" are his wonders|strong="H8540"! his kingdom|strong="H4437" is an everlasting|strong="H5957" kingdom|strong="H4437", and his dominion|strong="H7985" is from|strong="H5974" generation|strong="H1859" to generation|strong="H1859".
I|strong="H0576" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020" was|strong="H1934" at rest|strong="H7954" in mine house|strong="H1005", and flourishing|strong="H7487" in my palace|strong="H1965":
I saw|strong="H2370" a dream|strong="H2493" which made me afraid|strong="H1763", and the thoughts|strong="H2031" upon|strong="H5922" my bed|strong="H4903" and the visions|strong="H2376" of my head|strong="H7217" troubled|strong="H0927" me.
Therefore|strong="H4481" made|strong="H7761" I|strong="H4481" a decree|strong="H2942" to bring|strong="H5954" in all|strong="H3606" the wise|strong="H2445" men of Babylon|strong="H0895" before|strong="H6925" me, that they might make known|strong="H3046" unto me the interpretation|strong="H6591" of the dream|strong="H2493".
Then|strong="H0116" came|strong="H5954" in the magicians|strong="H2749", the astrologers|strong="H0826", the Chaldeans|strong="H3779", and the soothsayers|strong="H1505": and I|strong="H0576" told|strong="H0560" the dream|strong="H2493" before|strong="H6925" them; but they did not|strong="H3809" make known|strong="H3046" unto me the interpretation|strong="H6591" thereof.
But at|strong="H5705" the last|strong="H0318" Daniel|strong="H1841" came in|strong="H5922" before me|strong="H6925", whose name|strong="H8036" was Belteshazzar|strong="H1096", according to the name|strong="H8036" of my god|strong="H0426", and in whom is the spirit|strong="H7308" of the holy|strong="H6922" gods|strong="H0426": and before|strong="H6925" him I told|strong="H0560" the dream|strong="H2493", saying,
O Belteshazzar|strong="H1096", master|strong="H7229" of the magicians|strong="H2749", because I|strong="H0576" know|strong="H3046" that the spirit|strong="H7308" of the holy|strong="H6922" gods|strong="H0426" is in thee, and no|strong="H3606" secret|strong="H7328" troubleth|strong="H0598" thee, tell|strong="H0560" me the visions|strong="H2376" of my dream|strong="H2493" that I have seen|strong="H2370", and the interpretation|strong="H6591" thereof.
Thus were the visions|strong="H2376" of mine head|strong="H7217" in|strong="H5922" my bed|strong="H4903"; I saw|strong="H1934", and behold|strong="H0431" a tree|strong="H0363" in the midst|strong="H1459" of the earth|strong="H0772", and the height|strong="H7314" thereof was great|strong="H7690".
The tree|strong="H0363" grew|strong="H7236", and was strong|strong="H8631", and the height|strong="H7314" thereof reached|strong="H4291" unto heaven|strong="H8065", and the sight|strong="H2379" thereof to the end|strong="H5491" of all|strong="H3606" the earth|strong="H0772":
The leaves|strong="H6074" thereof were fair|strong="H8209", and the fruit|strong="H0004" thereof much|strong="H7690", and in it was meat|strong="H4203" for all|strong="H3606": the beasts|strong="H2423" of the field|strong="H1251" had shadow|strong="H2927" under|strong="H8460" it, and the fowls|strong="H6853" of the heaven|strong="H8065" dwelt|strong="H1753" in the boughs|strong="H6056" thereof, and all|strong="H3606" flesh|strong="H1321" was fed|strong="H2110" of it|strong="H4481".
I saw|strong="H1934" in the visions|strong="H2376" of my head|strong="H7217" upon|strong="H5922" my bed|strong="H4903", and, behold|strong="H0431", a watcher|strong="H5894" and an holy one|strong="H6922" came down|strong="H5182" from|strong="H4481" heaven|strong="H8065";
He cried|strong="H7123" aloud|strong="H2429", and said|strong="H0560" thus|strong="H3652", Hew down|strong="H1414" the tree|strong="H0363", and cut off|strong="H7113" his branches|strong="H6056", shake off|strong="H5426" his leaves|strong="H6074", and scatter|strong="H0921" his fruit|strong="H0004": let the beasts|strong="H2423" get away|strong="H5111" from|strong="H4481" under it|strong="H8479", and the fowls|strong="H6853" from|strong="H4481" his branches|strong="H6056":
Nevertheless|strong="H1297" leave|strong="H7662" the stump|strong="H6136" of his roots|strong="H8330" in the earth|strong="H0772", even with a band|strong="H0613" of iron|strong="H6523" and brass|strong="H5174", in the tender grass|strong="H1883" of the field|strong="H1251"; and let it be wet|strong="H6647" with the dew|strong="H2920" of heaven|strong="H8065", and let his portion|strong="H2508" be with|strong="H5974" the beasts|strong="H2423" in the grass|strong="H6211" of the earth|strong="H0772":
Let his heart|strong="H3825" be changed|strong="H8133" from|strong="H4481" man’s|strong="H0606", and let a beast’s|strong="H2423" heart|strong="H3825" be given|strong="H3052" unto him; and let seven|strong="H7655" times|strong="H5732" pass|strong="H2499" over|strong="H5922" him.
This matter|strong="H6600" is by the decree|strong="H1510" of the watchers|strong="H5894", and the demand|strong="H7595" by the word|strong="H3983" of the holy ones|strong="H6922": to|strong="H5705" the intent|strong="H1701" that the living|strong="H2417" may know|strong="H3046" that the most High|strong="H5943" ruleth|strong="H7990" in the kingdom|strong="H4437" of men|strong="H0606", and giveth|strong="H5415" it to whomsoever|strong="H4479" he will|strong="H6634", and setteth up|strong="H6966" over|strong="H5922" it the basest|strong="H8215" of men|strong="H0606".
This|strong="H1836" dream|strong="H2493" I|strong="H0576" king|strong="H4430" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020" have seen|strong="H2370". Now thou|strong="H0607", O Belteshazzar|strong="H1096", declare|strong="H0560" the interpretation|strong="H6591" thereof, forasmuch as|strong="H6903" all|strong="H3606" the wise|strong="H2445" men of my kingdom|strong="H4437" are not|strong="H3809" able|strong="H3202" to make known|strong="H3046" unto me the interpretation|strong="H6591": but thou|strong="H0607" art able|strong="H3546"; for the spirit|strong="H7308" of the holy|strong="H6922" gods|strong="H0426" is in thee.
Then|strong="H0116" Daniel|strong="H1841", whose name|strong="H8036" was Belteshazzar|strong="H1096", was astonied|strong="H8075" for one|strong="H2298" hour|strong="H8160", and his thoughts|strong="H7476" troubled|strong="H0927" him. The king|strong="H4430" spake|strong="H6032", and said|strong="H0560", Belteshazzar|strong="H1096", let not|strong="H0409" the dream|strong="H2493", or the interpretation|strong="H6591" thereof, trouble|strong="H0927" thee. Belteshazzar|strong="H1096" answered|strong="H6032" and said|strong="H0560", My lord|strong="H4756", the dream|strong="H2493" be to them that hate|strong="H8131" thee, and the interpretation|strong="H6591" thereof to thine enemies|strong="H6146".
The tree|strong="H0363" that thou sawest|strong="H2370", which grew|strong="H7236", and was strong|strong="H8631", whose height|strong="H7314" reached|strong="H4291" unto the heaven|strong="H8065", and the sight|strong="H2379" thereof to all|strong="H3606" the earth|strong="H0772";
Whose leaves|strong="H6074" were fair|strong="H8209", and the fruit|strong="H0004" thereof much|strong="H7690", and in it was meat|strong="H4203" for all|strong="H3606"; under|strong="H8460" which the beasts|strong="H2423" of the field|strong="H1251" dwelt|strong="H1753", and upon whose branches|strong="H6056" the fowls|strong="H6853" of the heaven|strong="H8065" had their habitation|strong="H7932":
It is thou|strong="H0607", O king|strong="H4430", that art grown|strong="H7236" and become strong|strong="H8631": for thy greatness|strong="H7238" is grown|strong="H7236", and reacheth|strong="H4291" unto heaven|strong="H8065", and thy dominion|strong="H7985" to the end|strong="H5491" of the earth|strong="H0772".
And whereas the king|strong="H4430" saw|strong="H2370" a watcher|strong="H5894" and an holy one|strong="H6922" coming down|strong="H5182" from|strong="H4481" heaven|strong="H8065", and saying|strong="H0560", Hew|strong="H1414" the tree|strong="H0363" down|strong="H1414", and destroy|strong="H2255" it; yet|strong="H1297" leave|strong="H7662" the stump|strong="H6136" of the roots|strong="H8330" thereof in the earth|strong="H0772", even with a band|strong="H0613" of iron|strong="H6523" and brass|strong="H5174", in the tender grass|strong="H1883" of the field|strong="H1251"; and let it be wet|strong="H6647" with the dew|strong="H2920" of heaven|strong="H8065", and let his portion|strong="H2508" be with|strong="H5974" the beasts|strong="H2423" of the field|strong="H1251", till|strong="H5705" seven|strong="H7655" times|strong="H5732" pass|strong="H2499" over|strong="H5922" him;
This|strong="H1836" is the interpretation|strong="H6591", O king|strong="H4430", and this|strong="H1932" is the decree|strong="H1510" of the most High|strong="H5943", which is come|strong="H4291" upon|strong="H5922" my lord|strong="H4756" the king|strong="H4430":
That they shall drive|strong="H2957" thee from|strong="H4481" men|strong="H0606", and thy dwelling|strong="H4070" shall be|strong="H1934" with|strong="H5974" the beasts|strong="H2423" of the field|strong="H1251", and they shall make thee to eat|strong="H2939" grass|strong="H6211" as oxen|strong="H8450", and they shall wet|strong="H6647" thee with the dew|strong="H2920" of heaven|strong="H8065", and seven|strong="H7655" times|strong="H5732" shall pass|strong="H2499" over|strong="H5922" thee, till|strong="H5705" thou know|strong="H3046" that the most High|strong="H5943" ruleth|strong="H7990" in the kingdom|strong="H4437" of men|strong="H0606", and giveth|strong="H5415" it to whomsoever|strong="H4479" he will|strong="H6634".
And whereas they commanded|strong="H0560" to leave|strong="H7662" the stump|strong="H6136" of the tree|strong="H0363" roots|strong="H8330"; thy kingdom|strong="H4437" shall be sure|strong="H7011" unto thee, after|strong="H4481" that thou shalt have known|strong="H3046" that the heavens|strong="H8065" do rule|strong="H7990".
Wherefore|strong="H3861", O king|strong="H4430", let my counsel|strong="H4431" be acceptable|strong="H8232" unto thee|strong="H5922", and break off|strong="H6562" thy sins|strong="H2408" by righteousness|strong="H6665", and thine iniquities|strong="H5758" by shewing mercy|strong="H2604" to the poor|strong="H6033"; if|strong="H2006" it may be|strong="H1934" a lengthening|strong="H0754" of thy tranquillity|strong="H7963".
All|strong="H3606" this came|strong="H4291" upon|strong="H5922" the king|strong="H4430" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020".
At the end|strong="H7118" of twelve|strong="H8648" months|strong="H3393" he walked|strong="H1934" in|strong="H5922" the palace|strong="H1965" of the kingdom|strong="H4437" of Babylon|strong="H0895".
The king|strong="H4430" spake|strong="H6032", and said|strong="H0560", Is not|strong="H3809" this|strong="H1932" great|strong="H7229" Babylon|strong="H0895", that I|strong="H0576" have built|strong="H1124" for the house|strong="H1005" of the kingdom|strong="H4437" by the might|strong="H8632" of my power|strong="H2632", and for the honour|strong="H3367" of my majesty|strong="H1923"?
While|strong="H5751" the word|strong="H4406" was in the king’s|strong="H4430" mouth|strong="H6433", there fell|strong="H5308" a voice|strong="H7032" from|strong="H4481" heaven|strong="H8065", saying, O king|strong="H4430" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020", to thee it is spoken|strong="H0560"; The kingdom|strong="H4437" is departed|strong="H5709" from|strong="H4481" thee.
And they shall drive|strong="H2957" thee from|strong="H4481" men|strong="H0606", and thy dwelling|strong="H4070" shall be with|strong="H5974" the beasts|strong="H2423" of the field|strong="H1251": they shall make thee to eat|strong="H2939" grass|strong="H6211" as oxen|strong="H8450", and seven|strong="H7655" times|strong="H5732" shall pass|strong="H2499" over|strong="H5922" thee, until|strong="H5705" thou know|strong="H3046" that the most High|strong="H5943" ruleth|strong="H7990" in the kingdom|strong="H4437" of men|strong="H0606", and giveth|strong="H5415" it to whomsoever|strong="H4479" he will|strong="H6634".
The same hour|strong="H8160" was the thing|strong="H4406" fulfilled|strong="H5487" upon|strong="H5922" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020": and he was driven|strong="H2957" from|strong="H4481" men|strong="H0606", and did eat|strong="H0399" grass|strong="H6211" as oxen|strong="H8450", and his body|strong="H1655" was wet|strong="H6647" with the dew|strong="H2920" of heaven|strong="H8065", till|strong="H5705" his hairs|strong="H8177" were grown|strong="H7236" like eagles’|strong="H5403" feathers, and his nails|strong="H2953" like birds’|strong="H6853" claws.
And at the end|strong="H7118" of the days|strong="H3118" I|strong="H0576" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020" lifted up|strong="H5191" mine eyes|strong="H5870" unto heaven|strong="H8065", and mine understanding|strong="H4486" returned|strong="H8421" unto me|strong="H5922", and I blessed|strong="H1289" the most High|strong="H5943", and I praised|strong="H7624" and honoured|strong="H1922" him that liveth|strong="H2417" for ever|strong="H5957", whose dominion|strong="H7985" is an everlasting|strong="H5957" dominion|strong="H7985", and his kingdom|strong="H4437" is from|strong="H5974" generation|strong="H1859" to generation|strong="H1859":
And all|strong="H3606" the inhabitants|strong="H1753" of the earth|strong="H0772" are reputed|strong="H2804" as nothing|strong="H3809": and he doeth|strong="H5648" according to his will|strong="H6634" in the army|strong="H2429" of heaven|strong="H8065", and among the inhabitants|strong="H1753" of the earth|strong="H0772": and none|strong="H3809" can|strong="H0383" stay|strong="H4223" his hand|strong="H3028", or say|strong="H0560" unto him, What|strong="H4101" doest|strong="H5648" thou?
At the same time|strong="H2166" my reason|strong="H4486" returned|strong="H8421" unto me|strong="H5922"; and for the glory|strong="H3367" of my kingdom|strong="H4437", mine honour|strong="H1923" and brightness|strong="H2122" returned|strong="H8421" unto me|strong="H5922"; and my counsellors|strong="H1907" and my lords|strong="H7261" sought|strong="H1156" unto me|strong="H5922"; and I was established|strong="H8627" in my kingdom|strong="H4437", and excellent|strong="H3493" majesty|strong="H7238" was added|strong="H3255" unto me.
Now|strong="H3705" I|strong="H0576" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5020" praise|strong="H7624" and extol|strong="H7313" and honour|strong="H1922" the King|strong="H4430" of heaven|strong="H8065", all|strong="H3606" whose works|strong="H4567" are truth|strong="H7187", and his ways|strong="H0735" judgment|strong="H1780": and those that walk|strong="H1981" in pride|strong="H1467" he is able|strong="H3202" to abase|strong="H8214".
