1 And when Balaam saw that it pleased LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at the other times, to meet with omens, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
1 Quando Balaão viu que era do agrado do Senhor que ele abençoasse Israel, não foi esta vez, como antes, ao encontro de agouros, mas voltou o rosto para o deserto.
2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes, and the Spirit of God came upon him.
2 Balaão levantou os olhos e viu Israel acampado segundo as suas tribos. E o Espírito de Deus veio sobre Balaão
3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor says, and the man whose eye was closed says,
3 e ele proferiu a sua palavra, dizendo: “Palavra de Balaão, filho de Beor, palavra do homem de olhos abertos;
4 he says who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open,
4 palavra daquele que ouve os ditos de Deus, daquele que tem a visão do Todo-Poderoso e prostra-se, porém de olhos abertos:
5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, thy tabernacles, O Israel!
5 Como são boas as suas tendas, ó Jacó! Como são boas as suas moradas, ó Israel!
6 As valleys they are spread forth, as gardens by the river-side, as aloes which LORD has planted, as cedar trees beside the waters.
6 São como vales que se estendem, como jardins à beira dos rios, como árvores de sândalo que o como cedros junto às águas.
7 Water shall flow from his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
7 Águas manarão de seus baldes, e as suas sementeiras terão águas abundantes. O seu rei se levantará mais do que Agague, e o seu reino será exaltado.
8 God brings him forth out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild-ox. He shall eat up the nations his adversaries, and shall break their bones in pieces, and smite [them] through with his arrows.
8 Deus tirou do Egito o povo de Israel, cujas forças são como as do boi selvagem; consumirá as nações inimigas, e quebrará seus ossos, e, com as suas flechas, os atravessará.
9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a lioness. Who shall rouse him up? He who blesses thee is blessed, And he who curses thee is cursed.
9 Israel abaixou-se, deitou-se como leão e como leoa; quem o despertará? Benditos os que abençoarem você, e malditos os que amaldiçoarem você.”
10 And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. And Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse my enemies, and, behold, thou have altogether blessed them these three times.
10 Então Balaque ficou irado com Balaão, e bateu com uma mão na outra. Balaque disse a Balaão: — Eu o chamei para que você amaldiçoasse os meus inimigos, mas agora, já três vezes, você somente os abençoou.
11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place. I thought to promote thee to great honor, but, lo, LORD has kept thee back from honor.
11 Agora vá embora para a sua casa. Eu tinha dito que o cobriria de honras, mas eis que o Senhor o privou delas.
12 And Balaam said to Balak, Did I not also speak to thy messengers that thou sent to me, saying,
12 Então Balaão disse a Balaque: — Não é verdade que eu também tinha dito aos mensageiros que você me enviou que,
13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of LORD, to do either good or bad of my own mind. What LORD speaks, that I will speak?
13 mesmo que você me desse a sua casa cheia de prata e de ouro, eu não poderia transgredir o mandado do Senhor , fazendo bem ou mal por minha própria iniciativa? E não é verdade que eu disse que falaria apenas o que o Senhor me dissesse?
14 And now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will advise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
14 Agora eis que volto ao meu povo. Mas antes disso, venha, pois quero avisá-lo do que este povo fará ao seu povo, nos últimos dias.
15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor says, and the man whose eye was closed says,
15 Então Balaão proferiu a sua palavra e disse: “Palavra de Balaão, filho de Beor, palavra do homem de olhos abertos;
16 he says who hears the words of God, and knows the knowledge of the Most High, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
16 palavra daquele que ouve os ditos de Deus e tem o conhecimento do Altíssimo; daquele que tem a visão do Todo-Poderoso e prostra-se, porém de olhos abertos:
17 I see him, but not now. I behold him, but not near. There shall come forth a star out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite through the corners of Moab, and break down all the sons of tumult.
17 Eu o vejo, porém não agora; eu o contemplo, mas não de perto. Uma estrela procederá de Jacó, de Israel subirá um cetro que ferirá as têmporas de Moabe e destruirá todos os filhos de Sete.
18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession, [who were] his enemies, while Israel does valiantly.
18 Edom será uma propriedade; Seir, que é inimigo dele, também será uma propriedade; mas Israel fará proezas.
19 And out of Jacob shall come he who shall have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.
19 De Jacó sairá o dominador; ele exterminará os que restam das cidades.”
20 And he looked on Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end shall come to destruction.
20 Balaão viu Amaleque, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: “Amaleque é o primeiro das nações, porém o seu fim será destruição.”
21 And he looked on the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling-place, and thy nest is set in the rock.
21 Viu os queneus, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: “A sua habitação está segura, e você pôs o seu ninho na rocha.
22 Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
22 Todavia, o queneu será consumido, até que Assur leve você cativo.
23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God does this?
23 Balaão proferiu ainda a sua palavra e disse: Ai! Quem viverá, quando Deus fizer isto?
24 But ships [shall come] from the coast of Kittim, and they shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall come to destruction.
24 Homens virão da costa de Quitim em seus navios; afligirão Assur e Héber; e também eles mesmos perecerão.”
25 And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place, and Balak also went his way.
25 Depois Balaão se levantou e se foi, e voltou para a sua terra. Também Balaque se foi pelo seu caminho.
