1 Now the people murmured, and it was evil in the ears of Jehovah; for Jehovah heard it, and His anger burned. And the fire of Jehovah burned among them, and consumed those in the outskirts of the camp.
1 E aconteceu que, queixou-se o povo falando o que era mal aos ouvidos do SENHOR; e ouvindo o SENHOR a sua ira se acendeu; e o fogo do SENHOR ardeu entre eles e consumiu os que estavam na última parte do arraial.
2 And the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses made intercession unto Jehovah, the fire was quenched.
2 Então o povo clamou a Moisés, e Moisés orou ao Senhor, e o fogo se apagou.
3 And he called the name of the place Taberah, because the fire of Jehovah had burned among them.
3 Pelo que chamou aquele lugar Taberá, porquanto o fogo do Senhor se acendera entre eles.
4 And the mixed multitude who were among them lusted after their lusts; and the children of Israel turned back and wept, saying: Who will give us flesh to eat?
4 E o vulgo, que estava no meio deles, veio a ter grande desejo; pelo que os filhos de Israel tornaram a chorar, e disseram: Quem nos dará carne a comer?
5 We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;
5 Lembramo-nos dos peixes que no Egito comíamos de graça; e dos pepinos, e dos melões, e dos porros, e das cebolas, e dos alhos.
6 but now our soul is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!
6 Mas agora a nossa alma se seca; coisa nenhuma há senão este maná diante dos nossos olhos.
7 Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like the appearance of bdellium.
7 E era o maná como semente de coentro, e a sua cor como a cor de bdélio.
8 The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and its taste was like the taste of juicy oil.
8 Espalhava-se o povo e o colhia, e em moinhos o moía, ou num gral o pisava, e em panelas o cozia, e dele fazia bolos; e o seu sabor era como o sabor de azeite fresco.
9 And when the dew fell on the camp at night, the manna fell on it.
9 E, quando o orvalho descia de noite sobre o arraial, o maná descia sobre ele.
10 And Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and the anger of Jehovah burned greatly; and it was evil in the eyes of Moses.
10 Então Moisés ouviu chorar o povo pelas suas famílias, cada qual à porta da sua tenda; e a ira do Senhor grandemente se acendeu, e pareceu mal aos olhos de Moisés.
11 And Moses said to Jehovah, Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your eyes, to lay the burden of all these people on me?
11 E disse Moisés ao Senhor: Por que fizeste mal a teu servo, e por que não achei graça aos teus olhos, visto que puseste sobre mim o cargo de todo este povo?
12 Have I conceived all these people? Have I begotten them, that You say to me, Carry them in your bosom, as a supporting father carries a nursing child, to the land which You have sworn to their fathers?
12 Concebi eu porventura todo este povo? Dei-o eu à luz? para que me dissesses: leva-o ao teu colo, como a ama leva a criança que mama, à terra que juraste a seus pais?
13 Where would I get flesh to set before all these people? For they weep upon me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
13 De onde teria eu carne para dar a todo este povo? Porquanto contra mim choram, dizendo: Dá-nos carne a comer;
14 I am not able to bear all these people alone, because they are too heavy for me.
14 Eu só não posso levar a todo este povo, porque muito pesado é para mim.
15 If You are dealing with me like this, please kill and destroy me, if I have found favor in Your eyes; and do not let me see my distress!
15 E se assim fazes comigo, mata-me, peço-te, se tenho achado graça aos teus olhos, e não me deixes ver o meu mal.
16 And Jehovah said to Moses: Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tent of meeting, and they shall stand there with you.
16 E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Ajunta-me setenta homens dos anciãos de Israel, que sabes serem anciãos do povo e seus oficiais; e os trarás perante a tenda da congregação, e ali estejam contigo.
17 And I will come down and speak with you there. And I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will lay upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.
17 Então eu descerei e ali falarei contigo, e tirarei do espírito que está sobre ti, e o porei sobre eles; e contigo levarão a carga do povo, para que tu não a leves sozinho.
18 And you shall say to the people, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt. Therefore Jehovah will give you flesh, and you shall eat.
18 E dirás ao povo: Santificai-vos para amanhã, e comereis carne; porquanto chorastes aos ouvidos do Senhor, dizendo: Quem nos dará carne a comer? Pois íamos bem no Egito; por isso o Senhor vos dará carne, e comereis;
19 You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,
19 Não comereis um dia, nem dois dias, nem cinco dias, nem dez dias, nem vinte dias;
20 but to a month of days, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have despised Jehovah who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, Why have we come up out of Egypt?
20 Mas um mês inteiro, até vos sair pelas narinas, até que vos enfastieis dela; porquanto rejeitastes ao Senhor, que está no meio de vós, e chorastes diante dele, dizendo: Por que saímos do Egito?
21 And Moses said, The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand footmen; yet You have said, I will give them flesh, and they shall eat for a month of days.
21 E disse Moisés: Seiscentos mil homens de pé é este povo, no meio do qual estou; e tu tens dito: Dar-lhes-ei carne, e comerão um mês inteiro.
22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide for them?
22 Degolar-se-ão para eles ovelhas e vacas que lhes bastem? Ou ajuntar-se-ão para eles todos os peixes do mar, que lhes bastem?
23 And Jehovah said to Moses, Is the hand of Jehovah shortened? Now you shall see whether My word shall come to pass unto you or not.
23 Porém, o Senhor disse a Moisés: Teria sido encurtada a mão do Senhor? Agora verás se a minha palavra se há de cumprir ou não.
24 And Moses went out and spoke unto the people the words of Jehovah, and he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tent.
24 E saiu Moisés, e falou as palavras do Senhor ao povo, e ajuntou setenta homens dos anciãos do povo e os pôs ao redor da tenda.
25 And Jehovah came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and laid upon the seventy men of the elders; and it happened, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, although they did not do so again.
25 Então o Senhor desceu na nuvem, e lhe falou; e, tirando do espírito, que estava sobre ele, o pôs sobre aqueles setenta anciãos; e aconteceu que, quando o espírito repousou sobre eles, profetizaram; mas depois nunca mais.
26 But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those enrolled, but had not gone out to the tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
26 Porém no arraial ficaram dois homens; o nome de um era Eldade, e do outro Medade; e repousou sobre eles o espírito (porquanto estavam entre os inscritos, ainda que não saíram à tenda), e profetizavam no arraial.
27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.
27 Então correu um moço e anunciou a Moisés e disse: Eldade e Medade profetizam no arraial.
28 And Joshua the son of Nun, minister to Moses, a youth, answered and said, Moses my lord, stop them!
28 E Josué, filho de Num, servidor de Moisés, um dos seus jovens escolhidos, respondeu e disse: Moisés, meu senhor, proíbe-lho.
29 And Moses said to him, Are you jealous for my sake? Oh, that all the people of Jehovah were prophets and that Jehovah would put His Spirit upon them!
29 Porém, Moisés lhe disse: Tens tu ciúmes por mim? Quem dera que todo o povo do Senhor fosse profeta, e que o Senhor pusesse o seu espírito sobre ele!
30 And Moses withdrew into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
30 Depois Moisés se recolheu ao arraial, ele e os anciãos de Israel.
31 And a wind went forth from Jehovah, and it brought quail from the sea and left them near the camp, about a day’s journey here and about a day’s journey there, all around the camp, about two cubits above the surface of the ground.
31 Então soprou um vento do Senhor e trouxe codornizes do mar, e as espalhou pelo arraial quase caminho de um dia, de um lado e de outro lado, ao redor do arraial; quase dois côvados sobre a terra.
32 And the people arose all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten homers); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.
32 Então o povo se levantou todo aquele dia e toda aquela noite, e todo o dia seguinte, e colheram as codornizes; o que menos tinha, colhera dez ômeres; e as estenderam para si ao redor do arraial.
33 And while the flesh was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of Jehovah burned against the people, and Jehovah struck the people with a very great plague.
33 Quando a carne estava entre os seus dentes, antes que fosse mastigada, se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra o povo, e feriu o Senhor o povo com uma praga mui grande.
34 And he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.
34 Por isso o nome daquele lugar se chamou Quibrote-Ataavá, porquanto ali enterraram o povo que teve o desejo.
35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people journeyed to Hazeroth, and camped at Hazeroth.
35 De Quibrote-Ataavá caminhou o povo para Hazerote, e pararam em Hazerote.
