1 And Balaam seide to Balaach, Bilde thou here to me seuene auteris, and make redi so many caluys, and rammes of the same noumbre.
1 Disse Balaão a Balaque: Edifica-me aqui sete altares e prepara-me aqui sete novilhos e sete carneiros.
2 And whanne he hadde do bi the word of Balaam, thei puttiden a calf and a ram to gidere on the auter.
2 Fez, pois, Balaque como Balaão dissera; e Balaque e Balaão ofereceram um novilho e um carneiro sobre cada altar.
3 And Balaam seide to Balaach, Stond thou a litil while bisidis thi brent sacrifice, while Y go, if in hap the Lord meete me; and Y schal `speke to thee what euer thing he schal comaunde.
3 Então Balaão disse a Balaque: Fica aqui em pé junto ao teu holocausto, e eu irei; porventura o Senhor me sairá ao encontro, e o que ele me mostrar, eu to direi. E foi a um lugar alto.
4 And whanne he hadde go swiftli, God cam to hym; and Balaam spak to hym, and seide, Y reiside seuene auteris, and Y puttide a calf and a ram aboue.
4 E quando Deus se encontrou com Balaão, este lhe disse: Preparei os sete altares, e ofereci um novilho e um carneiro sobre cada altar.
5 Forsothe the Lord `puttide a word in his mouth, and seide, Turne ayen to Balaach, and thou schalt speke these thingis.
5 Então o senhor pôs uma palavra na boca de Balaão, e disse: Volta para Balaque, e assim falarás.
6 He turnede ayen, and fond Balach stondynge bisidis his brent sacrifice, and alle the princes of Moabitis.
6 Voltou, pois, para ele, e eis que estava em pé junto ao seu holocausto, ele e todos os príncipes de Moabe.
7 And whanne his parable `was takun, he seide, Balaach, the kyng of Moabitis, brouyte me fro Aran, fro the `hillis of the eest; and he seide, Come thou and curse Jacob; haaste thou, and greetli curse thou Israel.
7 Então proferiu Balaão a sua parábola, dizendo: De Arã me mandou trazer Balaque, o rei de Moabe, desde as montanhas do Oriente, dizendo: Vem, amaldiçoa-me a Jacó; vem, denuncia a Israel.
8 How schal Y curse whom God cursid not? bi what resoun schal Y `haue abhomynable whom God `hath not abhomynable?
8 Como amaldiçoarei a quem Deus não amaldiçoou? e como denunciarei a quem o Senhor não denunciou?
9 Fro the hiyeste flyntis Y schal se hym, and fro litle hillis Y schal biholde hym; the puple schal dwelle aloone, and it schal not be arettid among hethene men.
9 Pois do cume das penhas o vejo, e dos outeiros o contemplo; eis que é um povo que habita só, e entre as nações não será contado.
10 Who may noumbre the dust, that is, kynrede, of Jacob, and knowe the noumbre of the generacioun of Israel? My lijf die in the deeth of iust men, and my laste thingis be maad lijk hem!
10 Quem poderá contar o pó de Jacó e o número da quarta parte de Israel? Que eu morra a morte dos justos, e seja o meu fim como o deles.
11 And Balaach seide to Balaam, What is this that thou doist? Y clepide thee, that thou schuldist curse myn enemyes, and ayenward thou blessist hem.
11 Então disse Balaque a Balaão: Que me fizeste? Chamei-te para amaldiçoares os meus inimigos, e eis que inteiramente os abençoaste.
12 To whom Balaam answeride, Whether Y may speke othir thing no but that that the Lord comaundith?
12 E ele respondeu: Porventura não terei cuidado de falar o que o Senhor me puser na boca?
13 Therfor Balaach seide to Balaam, Come with me in to anothir place, fro whennus thou se a part of Israel, and mayst not se al; fro thennus curse thou hym.
13 Então Balaque lhe disse: Rogo-te que venhas comigo a outro lugar, donde o poderás ver; verás somente a última parte dele, mas a todo ele não verás; e amaldiçoa-mo dali.
14 And whanne he hadde led Balaam in to an hiy place, on the cop of the hil of Phasga, he bildide seuene auteris to Balaam, and whanne calues and rammes weren put aboue,
14 Assim o levou ao campo de Zofim, ao cume de Pisga; e edificou sete altares, e ofereceu um novilho e um carneiro sobre cada altar.
15 he seide to Balaach, Stonde here bisidis thi brent sacrifice, while Y go.
15 Disse Balaão a Balaque: Fica aqui em pé junto ao teu holocausto, enquanto eu vou ali ao encontro do Senhor.
16 And whanne the Lord hadde `come to him, and hadde put `a word in his mouth, he seide, Turne ayen to Balach, and thou schalt seie these thingis to hym.
16 E, encontrando-se o Senhor com Balaão, pôs-lhe na boca uma palavra, e disse: Volta para Balaque, e assim falarás.
17 He turnyde ayen, and foond Balach stondynge bisidis his brent sacrifice, and the princis of Moabitis with hym. To whom Balach seide, What spak the Lord?
17 Voltou, pois, para ele, e eis que estava em pé junto ao seu holocausto, e os príncipes de Moabe com ele. Perguntou-lhe, pois, Balaque: Que falou o Senhor?
18 And whanne his parable `was takun, he seide, Stonde, Balach, and herkene; here, thou sone of Sephor. God is not `as a man,
18 Então proferiu Balaão a sua parábola, dizendo: Levanta-te, Balaque, e ouve; escuta-me, filho de Zipor;
19 that he lye, nethir he is as the sone of a man, that he be chaungid; therfor he seide, and schal he not do? he spak, and schal he not fulfille?
19 Deus não é homem, para que minta; nem filho do homem, para que se arrependa. Porventura, tendo ele dito, não o fará? ou, havendo falado, não o cumprirá?
20 Y am brouyt to blesse, Y may not forbede blessyng.
20 Eis que recebi mandado de abençoar; pois ele tem abençoado, e eu não o posso revogar.
21 Noon idol is in Jacob, nethir symylacre is seyn in Israel; his Lord God is with hym, and the sown of victorie of kyng is in hym.
21 Não se observa iniqüidade em Jacó, nem se vê maldade em Israel; o senhor seu Deus é com ele, no meio dele se ouve a aclamação dum rei;
22 The Lord God ledde hym out of Egipt, whos strengthe is lijk an vnicorn;
22 É Deus que os vem tirando do Egito; as suas forças são como as do boi selvagem.
23 fals tellyng bi chiteryng of bryddis, `ethir idolatrie, is not in Jacob, nethir fals dyuynyng is in Israel. In his tymes it schal be seide to Jacob and Israel, What the Lord hath wrought!
23 Contra Jacó, pois, não há encantamento, nem adivinhação contra Israel. Agora se dirá de Jacó e de Israel: Que coisas Deus tem feito!
24 Lo! the puple schal rise to gidere as a lionesse, and schal be reisid as a lioun; the lioun schal not reste, til he deuoure prey, and drynke the blood of hem that ben slayn.
24 Eis que o povo se levanta como leoa, e se ergue como leão; não se deitará até que devore a presa, e beba o sangue dos que foram mortos:
25 And Balach seide to Balaam, Nether curse thou, nether blesse thou hym.
25 Então Balaque disse a Balaão: Nem o amaldiçoes, nem tampouco o abençoes:
26 And he seide, Whether Y seide not to thee, that what euer thing that God comaundide to me, Y wolde do this?
26 Respondeu, porém, Balaão a Balaque: Não te falei eu, dizendo: Tudo o que o Senhor falar, isso tenho de fazer?
27 And Balach seide to hym, Come, and Y schal lede thee to an other place, if in hap it plesith God that fro thennus thou curse hym.
27 Tornou Balaque a Balaão: Vem agora, e te levarei a outro lugar; porventura parecerá bem aos olhos de Deus que dali mo amaldiçoes.
28 And whanne Balaach hadde led hym out on the `cop of the hil of Phegor, that biholdith the wildirnesse,
28 Então Balaque levou Balaão ao cume de Peor, que dá para o deserto.
29 Balaam seide to hym, Bilde here seuene auteris to me, and make redi so many caluys, and rammes of the same noumbre.
29 E Balaão disse a Balaque: Edifica-me aqui sete altares, e prepara-me aqui sete novilhos e sete carneiros.
30 Balaach dide as Balaam seide, and he puttide caluys and rammes, bi alle auteris.
30 Balaque, pois, fez como dissera Balaão; e ofereceu um novilho e um carneiro sobre cada altar.
