1 And whanne Chananei, the kyng of Arad, that dwellide at the south, hadde herd this, that is, that Israel cam bi the weye of aspieris, he fauyt ayens hem; and Chananei was ouercomere and ledde pray of Israel.
1 Ouvindo o cananeu, o rei de Arade, que habitava para a banda do sul, que Israel vinha pelo caminho dos espias, pelejou contra Israel e dele levou alguns deles por prisioneiros.
2 And Israel bounde hym sylf bi avow to the Lord, and seide, If thou schalt bitake this puple in myn hond, Y schal do awei `the citees therof.
2 Então, Israel fez um voto ao Senhor , dizendo: Se totalmente entregares este povo na minha mão, destruirei totalmente as suas cidades.
3 And the Lord herde the preieris of Israel, and bitook the Chananey; and Israel killid hym, and distruyede hise citees; and clepide the name of that place Horma, that is, cursyng, `ethir hangyng up.
3 O Senhor , pois, ouviu a voz de Israel e entregou os cananeus, que foram destruídos totalmente, eles e as suas cidades; e o nome daquele lugar chamou Horma.
4 `Forsothe thei yeden forth also fro the hil of Hor, bi the weie that ledith to the reed see, that thei schulden cumpasse the lond of Edom; and it bigan to anoye the puple, of the weie and trauel.
4 Então, partiram do monte Hor, pelo caminho do mar Vermelho, a rodear a terra de Edom; porém a alma do povo angustiou-se neste caminho.
5 And the puple spak ayens the Lord and Moises, and seide, Whi leddist thou vs out of Egipt, that we schulden die in wildirnesse? breed failith, watris ben not; oure soule wlatith now on this `meete moost liyt.
5 E o povo falou contra Deus e contra Moisés: Por que nos fizestes subir do Egito, para que morrêssemos neste deserto? Pois, aqui, nem pão nem água há; e a nossa alma tem fastio deste pão tão vil.
6 Wherfor the Lord sente `firid serpentis in to the puple; at the woundis of whiche serpentis, and the dethis of ful many men,
6 Então, o Senhor mandou entre o povo serpentes ardentes, que morderam o povo; e morreu muito povo de Israel.
7 thei camen to Moyses, and seiden, We synneden, for we spaken ayens the Lord and thee; preie thou, that he take awey fro vs the serpentis.
7 Pelo que o povo veio a Moisés e disse: Havemos pecado, porquanto temos falado contra o Senhor e contra ti; ora ao Senhor que tire de nós estas serpentes. Então, Moisés orou pelo povo.
8 And Moises preiede for the puple; and the Lord seide to hym, Make thou a serpent of bras, and sette thou it for a signe; he that is smytun and biholdith it, schal lyue.
8 E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Faze uma serpente ardente e põe-na sobre uma haste; e será que viverá todo mordido que olhar para ela.
9 Therfor Moyses made a serpent of bras, and settide for a signe; and men smytun and biholdynge it, weren heelid.
9 E Moisés fez uma serpente de metal e pô-la sobre uma haste; e era que, mordendo alguma serpente a alguém, olhava para a serpente de metal e ficava vivo.
10 And the sones of Israel yeden forth,
10 Então, os filhos de Israel partiram e alojaram-se em Obote.
11 and settiden tentis in Oboth; fro whennus thei yeden forth, and settiden tentis in Neabarym, in the wildirnesse, that biholdith Moab, ayens the eest coost.
11 Depois, partiram de Obote e alojaram-se nos outeiros de Abarim, no deserto que está defronte de Moabe, ao nascente do sol.
12 And thei moueden fro thennus, and camen to the stronde of Zareth;
12 Dali, partiram e alojaram-se junto ao ribeiro de Zerede.
13 which thei leften, and settiden tentis ayens Arnon, which is in the deseert, and apperith in the coostis of Amorrei. Forsothe Arnon is the terme of Moab, and departith Moabitis and Ammoreis.
13 E, dali, partiram e alojaram-se desta banda de Arnom, que está no deserto e sai dos termos dos amorreus; porque Arnom é o termo de Moabe, entre Moabe e os amorreus.
14 Wherfor it is seid in the book of batels of the Lord, As he dide in the reed see, so he schal do in the strondis of Arnon;
14 Pelo que se diz no livro das Guerras do Senhor : Contra Vaebe em Sufa, e contra os ribeiros de Arnom,
15 the harde rochis of the strondis weren bowid, that tho schulen reste in Arnon, and schulden ligge in the coostis of Moabitis.
15 e contra a corrente dos ribeiros que se volve para a situação de Ar e se encosta aos termos de Moabe.
16 Fro that place the pit apperide, of which the Lord spak to Moyses, Gadere thou the puple, and Y schal yyue watir to it.
16 E, dali, partiram para Beer; este é o poço do qual o Senhor disse a Moisés: Ajunta o povo, e lhe darei água
17 Thanne Israel soong this song, The pit stie;
17 (Então, Israel cantou este cântico: Sobe, poço, e vós, cantai dele:
18 thei sungen togidere, The pit which the princes diggiden, and the duykis of the multitude maden redi, in the yyuere of the lawe, and in her stauys. And thei yeden forth fro the wildirnesse to Mathana,
18 Tu, poço, que cavaram os príncipes, que escavaram os nobres do povo e o legislador com os seus bordões.). E, do deserto, partiram para Matana;
19 fro Mathana to Naaliel, fro Naaliel in to Bamoth;
19 e, de Matana, para Naaliel; e, de Naaliel, para Bamote.
20 Bamoth is a valey in the cuntrey of Moab, in the cop of Phasga, that biholdith ayens the deseert.
20 E, de Bamote, partiram para o vale que está no campo de Moabe, no cume de Pisga, à vista do deserto.
21 Forsothe Israel sente messangeris to Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, and seide,
21 Então, Israel mandou mensageiros a Seom, rei dos amorreus, dizendo:
22 Y biseche that it be leueful to me to passe thorou thi loond; we schulen not bowe in to the feeldis and vyneris; we schulen not drynke watris of pittis; we schulen go in the kyngis weie, til we passen thi termes.
22 Deixa-me passar pela tua terra; não nos desviaremos pelos campos nem pelas vinhas, e as águas dos poços não beberemos; iremos pela estrada real até que passemos os teus termos.
23 Which nolde graunte that Israel schulde passe thury hise coostis, but rather, whanne the oost was gaderid, he yede out ayens Israel, in to deseert. And he cam in to Yasa, and fauyt ayens Israel;
23 Porém Seom não deixou passar a Israel pelos seus termos; antes, Seom congregou todo o seu povo, e saiu ao encontro de Israel ao deserto, e veio a Jaza, e pelejou contra Israel.
24 of whom he was smytun in the scharpnesse of swerd, and his lond was weldid fro Arnon `til to Jeboth and `the sones of Amon; for the termes of Amonytis weren holdun bi strong help.
24 Mas Israel o feriu a fio de espada e tomou a sua terra em possessão, desde Arnom até Jaboque, até aos filhos de Amom; porquanto o termo dos filhos de Amom era firme.
25 Therfor Israel took alle `the citees of hym, and dwelliden in the citees of Amorrei, that is, in Esebon, and hise townes.
25 Assim, Israel tomou todas estas cidades; e Israel habitou em todas as cidades dos amorreus, em Hesbom e em todas as suas aldeias.
26 The citee of Esebon was Seons, kyng of Ammorei, which Seon fauyt ayens the kyng of Moab, and took al the lond that was of his lordschip, `til to Arnon.
26 Porque Hesbom era cidade de Seom, rei dos amorreus, que tinha pelejado contra o precedente rei dos moabitas e tinha tomado da sua mão toda a sua terra até Arnom.
27 Therfor it is seid in prouerbe, Come ye in to Esebon, be it bildid, and maad the citee of Seon;
27 Pelo que dizem os que falam em provérbios: Vinde a Hesbom; edifique-se e fortifique-se a cidade de Seom.
28 fier yede out of Esebon, flawme yede out of the citee `ethir greet castel of Seon, and deuouryde Ar of Moabitis, and the dwelleris of the `hiye places of Arnon.
28 Porque fogo saiu de Hesbom, e uma chama, da cidade de Seom; e consumiu a Ar dos moabitas e aos senhores dos altos de Arnom.
29 Moab, wo to thee! thou, puple of Chamos, perischidist; it yaf the sones therof in to fliyt, and the douytris in to caitifte to Seon, kyng of Ammoreis;
29 Ai de ti, Moabe! Perdido és, povo de Quemos! Entregou seus filhos, que iam fugindo, e suas filhas, como cativas a Seom, rei dos amorreus.
30 the yok of hem perischide, fro Esebon `til to Dibon; the wery men camen in to Jophe, and `til to Medaba.
30 E nós os derribamos; Hesbom perdida é até Dibom, e os assolamos até Nofa, que se estende até Medeba.
31 And so Israel dwellide in the lond of Ammorrey.
31 Assim, Israel habitou na terra dos amorreus.
32 And Moises sente men that schulden aspie Jaser, whos `townes thei token, and weldiden the dwelleris.
32 Depois, mandou Moisés espiar a Jazer, e tomaram as suas aldeias e daquela possessão lançaram os amorreus que estavam ali.
33 And thei turniden hem silf, and stieden bi the weie of Basan. And Og, the kyng of Basan, with al his puple cam ayens hem, to fiyte in Edray.
33 Então, viraram-se e subiram o caminho de Basã; e Ogue, rei de Basã, saiu contra eles, e todo o seu povo, à peleja em Edrei.
34 And the Lord seide to Moises, Drede thou not hym, for Y haue bitake hym, and al his loond, and puple, in thin hoond; and thou schalt do to hym as thou didist to Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, the dwellere of Esebon.
34 E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Não o temas, porque eu to tenho dado na tua mão, a ele, e a todo o seu povo, e a sua terra, e far-lhe-ás como fizeste a Seom, rei dos amorreus, que habitava em Hesbom.
35 Therfor thei smytiden `bothe hym with hise sones and al his puple, `til to deeth; and thei weldiden `the lond of hym.
35 E de tal maneira o feriram, a ele, e a seus filhos, e a todo o seu povo, que nenhum deles escapou; e tomaram a sua terra em possessão.
