1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
1 Então, falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:
2 “Speak to the ⌞Israelites⌟, and take from among them twelve staffs, ⌞a staff from each family⌟ from among all their leaders according to their families’ households. Write the name of each man on his staff,
2 Fala aos filhos de Israel e toma deles uma vara para cada casa paterna de todos os seus príncipes, segundo as casas de seus pais, doze varas; e escreverás o nome de cada um sobre a sua vara.
3 and the name of Aaron on the staff of Levi, because one staff is for the head of each of ⌞their families⌟.
3 Porém o nome de Arão escreverás sobre a vara de Levi; porque cada cabeça da casa de seus pais terá uma vara.
4 You must then put them in the tent of assembly ⌞before⌟ the testimony where I meet with you.
4 E as porás na tenda da congregação, perante o Testemunho, onde eu virei a vós.
5 And it will happen, the man whom I will choose, his staff will blossom, and so I will rid from upon myself the grumblings of the ⌞Israelites⌟, who are grumbling against you.”
5 E será que a vara do homem que eu tiver escolhido florescerá; assim, farei cessar as murmurações dos filhos de Israel contra mim, com que murmuram contra vós.
6 Moses spoke to the ⌞Israelites⌟, and all their leaders gave him a staff for each leader, one from ⌞each of their families⌟, twelve staffs, and the staff of Aaron was in the midst of their tribes.
6 Falou, pois, Moisés aos filhos de Israel; e todos os seus maiorais deram-lhe, cada um, uma vara, para cada maioral uma vara, segundo as casas de seus pais, doze varas; e a vara de Arão estava entre as suas varas.
7 And Moses put the staffs before Yahweh in the tent of testimony.
7 E Moisés pôs estas varas perante o Senhor na tenda do Testemunho.
8 Then the next day, Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi blossomed and put forth a flower and produced blossoms, and it produced almonds.
8 Sucedeu, pois, que no dia seguinte Moisés entrou na tenda do Testemunho, e eis que a vara de Arão, pela casa de Levi, florescia; porque produzira flores, e brotara renovos, e dera amêndoas.
9 Then Moses brought out to all the ⌞Israelites⌟ all the staffs before the presence of Yahweh, and they saw, and each man took his staff.
9 Então, Moisés trouxe todas as varas de diante do Senhor a todos os filhos de Israel; e eles o viram e tomaram cada um a sua vara.
10 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Bring back the staff of Aaron before the testimony as a guard and sign for the children of rebellion, and let them finish their grumblings before me and not die.”
10 Então, o Senhor disse a Moisés: Torna a pôr a vara de Arão perante o Testemunho, para que se guarde por sinal para os filhos rebeldes; assim, farás acabar as suas murmurações contra mim, e não morrerão.
11 So Moses did; just as Yahweh commanded him, so he did.
11 E Moisés fez assim; como lhe ordenara o Senhor , assim fez.
12 And the ⌞Israelites⌟ said to Moses, saying, “Look! We will die! We will be destroyed! All of us will perish!
12 Então, falaram os filhos de Israel a Moisés, dizendo: Eis aqui, nós expiramos, perecemos, nós perecemos todos.
13 Anyone who approaches the tabernacle of Yahweh will die. ⌞Will we all die⌟?”
13 Todo aquele que se aproximar do tabernáculo do Senhor , morrerá; seremos, pois, todos consumidos?
