1 A Maskil of Assaph. Why, O God, hast thou cast us off for ever? why will thy anger smoke against the flock of thy pasture?
1 Ó Deus, por que nos rejeitaste por tanto tempo? Por que é tão intensa tua ira contra as ovelhas de teu pasto?
2 Remember thy congregation, which thou didst acquire of old; which thou didst redeem as the tribe of thy inheritance: this mount Zion, whereon thou hast dwelt.
2 Lembra-te de que somos o povo que adquiriste muito tempo atrás, a tribo que resgataste como tua propriedade; lembra-te ainda do monte Sião, a tua habitação.
3 Lift up thy steps unto the perpetual heaps of ruins: the enemy hath illused every thing in the sanctuary.
3 Caminha pelas ruínas assustadoras da cidade; vê como o inimigo destruiu teu santuário.
4 Thy adversaries have roared in the midst of thy places of assembly: they have set up their signs for signs.
4 Ali teus inimigos deram gritos de vitória; ali, hastearam suas bandeiras de guerra.
5 The enemy is known as one that lifteth up high axes against the thickets of a forest.
5 Usaram seus machados como lenhadores no bosque.
6 And now they hew in pieces the carved work thereof altogether with hatchets and hammers.
6 Com machados e picaretas, despedaçaram os painéis entalhados.
7 They have set on fire thy sanctuary; to the ground have they profaned the dwellingplace of thy name.
7 Incendiaram todo o teu santuário, profanaram o lugar de habitação do teu nome.
8 They have said in their heart, We will oppress them altogether: they have burnt up all the places of assembly of God in the land.
8 Pensaram: “Vamos destruir tudo!”, e queimaram todos os lugares de adoração a Deus.
9 Our signs do we not see: there is no more any prophet: and there is no one among us that knoweth how long.
9 Já não vemos teus sinais; não há mais profetas, e ninguém sabe quando isso acabará.
10 How long, O God, shall the adversary utter defiance? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
10 Até quando, ó Deus, permitirás que nossos inimigos te insultem? Acaso deixarás que blasfemem teu nome para sempre?
11 Why withdrawest thou thy hand, and thy right hand? draw it out of thy bosomexterminate them;
11 Por que reténs tua forte mão direita? Estende-a com poder e destrói-os!
12 Since thou God art my King from olden days, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
12 Tu, ó Deus, és meu rei desde a antiguidade e trazes salvação à terra.
13 It was thou that didst divide by thy strength the sea: thou brokest in pieces the heads of the crocodiles on the waters.
13 Com tua força, dividiste o mar e despedaçaste as cabeças dos monstros marinhos.
14 Thou didst crush the heads of leviathan, and gavest them as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
14 Esmagaste as cabeças do Leviatã e o deste como alimento aos animais do deserto.
15 Thou didst cleave fountain and stream: thou didst dry up everflowing rivers.
15 Fizestes jorrar fontes e riachos e secaste rios de águas torrenciais.
16 Thine is the day and thine is the night: it is thou who hast prepared the luminary and the sun.
16 Tanto o dia como a noite pertencem a ti; criaste a luz das estrelas
17 It is thou who hast set up all the boundaries of the earth: summer and winterthou thyself hast formed them.
17 Determinaste os limites da terra e fizeste o verão e o inverno.
18 Remember this, that the enemy hath defied the Lord, and that a worthless foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
18 Vê como os inimigos te insultam, S enhor ; uma nação insensata blasfemou teu nome.
19 Oh give not up unto the multitude of enemies the soul of thy turtledove: the congregation of thy afflicted do not thou forget for ever.
19 Não permitas que esses animais selvagens destruam tua pomba; não te esqueças para sempre de teu povo aflito.
20 Look unto the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of habitations of violence.
20 Lembra-te das promessas da aliança, pois a terra está cheia de escuridão e violência.
21 Oh let not the oppressed return confounded: let the poor and needy praise thy name.
21 Não permitas que os oprimidos voltem a ser humilhados; em vez disso, que os pobres e os necessitados louvem teu nome.
22 Arise, O God, plead thy own cause: remember thy defiance from the worthless fool all the day.
22 Levanta-te, ó Deus, e defende tua causa; lembra-te de como esses tolos te insultam o dia todo.
23 Forget not the voice of thy adversaries: the tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.
23 Não ignores o que teus inimigos disseram, nem o tumulto que cresce sem parar.
