1 And there came nigh the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Chepher, the son of Gil’ad, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Menasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters, Machlah, No’ah, and Choglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
1 Aproximaram-se as filhas de Zelofeade, filho de Héfer, neto de Gileade, bisneto de Maquir, trineto de Manassés; pertencia aos clãs de Manassés, filho de José. Os nomes das suas filhas eram Maalá, Noa, Hogla, Milca e Tirza.
2 And they stood before Moses, and before Elazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
2 Elas se prostraram à entrada da Tenda do Encontro diante de Moisés, do sacerdote Eleazar, dos líderes de toda a comunidade, e disseram:
3 Our father died in the wilderness; but he was not among the company of those that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korach; but in his own sin he died, and sons he had not.
3 "Nosso pai morreu no deserto. Ele não estava entre os seguidores de Corá, que se ajuntaram contra o Senhor, mas morreu por causa do seu próprio pecado e não deixou filhos.
4 Why should the name of our father be done away from the midst of his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us a possession among the brothers of our father.
4 Por que o nome de nosso pai deveria desaparecer de seu clã por não ter tido um filho? Dê-nos propriedade entre os parentes de nosso pai".
5 And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
5 Moisés levou o caso perante o Senhor,
6 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
6 e o Senhor lhe disse:
7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak rightly: thou shalt indeed give them a possession as an inheritance among the brothers of their father; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
7 "As filhas de Zelofeade têm razão. Você lhes dará propriedade como herança entre os parentes do pai delas, e lhes passará a herança do pai.
8 And unto the children of Israel shalt thou speak, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then shall ye cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
8 "Diga aos israelitas: Se um homem morrer e não deixar filho, transfiram a sua herança para a sua filha.
9 And if he have no daughter, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his brothers.
9 Se ele não tiver filha, dêem a sua herança aos irmãos dele.
10 And if he have no brothers, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his father’s brothers.
10 Se não tiver irmãos, dêem-na aos irmãos de seu pai.
11 And if his father have no brothers, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall inherit it; and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of justice, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.
11 Se ainda seu pai não tiver irmãos, dêem a herança ao parente mais próximo em seu clã". Esta será uma exigência legal para os israelitas, como o Senhor ordenou a Moisés.
12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go thou up unto this mount of ‘Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
12 Então o Senhor disse a Moisés: "Suba este monte da serra de Abarim e veja a terra que dei aos israelitas.
13 And when thou hast seen it, then shalt thou also be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother hath been gathered.
13 Depois de vê-la, você também será reunido ao seu povo, como seu irmão Arão,
14 Because ye rebelled against my order in the desert of Zin, at the quarreling of the congregation, to sanctify me through the waters before their eyes: these are the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.
14 pois, quando a comunidade se rebelou nas águas do deserto de Zim, vocês dois desobedeceram à minha ordem de honrar minha santidade perante eles". Isso aconteceu nas águas de Meribá, em Cades, no deserto de Zim.
15 And Moses spoke unto the Lord, saying,
15 Moisés disse ao Senhor:
16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
16 "Que o Senhor, o Deus que a todos dá vida, designe um homem como líder desta comunidade
17 Who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as a flock which have no shepherd.
17 para conduzi-los em suas batalhas, para que a comunidade do Senhor não seja como ovelhas sem pastor".
18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take to thyself Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom there is a spirit, and thou shalt lay thy hand upon him;
18 Então o Senhor disse a Moisés: "Chame Josué, filho de Num, homem em quem está o Espírito, e imponha as mãos sobre ele.
19 And thou shalt cause him to stand before Elazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and thou shalt give him a charge before their eyes.
19 Faça-o apresentar-se ao sacerdote Eleazar e a toda a comunidade e o comissione na presença deles.
20 And thou shalt put some of thy greatness upon him; in order that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
20 Dê-lhe parte da sua autoridade para que toda a comunidade de Israel lhe obedeça.
21 And before Elazar the priest shall he stand, and he shall ask of him after the judgment of the Urim before the Lord: at his direction shall they go out, and at his direction shall they come in, he, and all the children of Israel with him, and all the congregation.
21 Ele deverá apresentar-se ao sacerdote Eleazar, que lhe dará diretrizes ao consultar o Urim perante o Senhor. Josué e toda a comunidade dos israelitas seguirão suas instruções quando saírem para a batalha".
22 And Moses did, as the Lord had commanded him; and he took Joshua, and caused him to stand before Elazar the priest, and before all the congregation;
22 Moisés fez como o Senhor lhe ordenou. Chamou Josué e o apresentou ao sacerdote Eleazar e a toda a comunidade.
23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses.
23 Impôs as mãos sobre ele e o comissionou. Tudo conforme o Senhor tinha dito por meio de Moisés.
