1 And when Bil’am saw that it was pleasing in the eyes of the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
1 E quando Balaão viu que agradou ao SENHOR abençoar a Israel, ele não foi, como em outras ocasiões, buscar encantamentos, mas voltou o seu rosto em direção ao deserto.
2 And Bil’am lifted up his eyes, and when he saw Israel encamped according to their tribes, there came upon him the spirit of God.
2 E Balaão ergueu os olhos e viu Israel, que permanecia em suas tendas, segundo as suas tribos; e veio sobre ele o Espírito de Deus.
3 And he took up his parable, and said, Thus saith Bil’am the son of Beor, and thus saith the man whose eyes are open;
3 E ele proferiu a sua parábola, e disse: Fala Balaão, filho de Beor, e fala o homem de olhos abertos;
4 Thus saith he who heareth the sayings of God, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, falling down, with unvailed eyes:
4 fala aquele que ouviu as palavras de Deus, que vê a visão de El-Shaddai, que cai, mas com os olhos abertos:
5 How beautiful are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwelling, O Israel!
5 Quão boas são as tuas tendas, ó Jacó, e os teus tabernáculos, ó Israel!
6 As streams are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as aloe–trees, which the Lord hath planted, as cedar–trees beside the waters.
6 Como vales se estendem, como jardins ao pé dos rios; como árvores de sândalo que o SENHOR plantou, e como cedros junto às águas.
7 Water runneth out of His buckets, that his seed may be moistened by abundance of water; and exalted above Agag shall be his king, and raised on high shall be his kingdom.
7 Ele derramará a água de seus baldes, e a sua semente estará em muitas águas; e o seu rei será maior do que Agague, e o seu reino será exaltado.
8 God, who brought him forth out of Egypt, is to him like the heights of the reem; he will devour nations, his oppressors, and their bones will he break, and pierce them through with his arrows.
8 Deus o trouxe do Egito; as suas forças são como as do unicórnio; ele consumirá as nações, seus inimigos, e quebrará seus ossos, e os perfurará com as suas flechas.
9 He coucheth, he lieth down as a lion, and as a lioness: who shall make him rise up? They that bless thee be blessed, and they that curse thee be cursed.
9 Encurvou-se, deitou-se como um leão, e como um grande leão; quem o despertará? Bendito é aquele que te abençoa, e maldito é aquele que te amaldiçoa.
10 And the anger of Balak was kindled against Bil’am, and he struck his hands together: and Balak said unto Bil’am, To denounce my enemies did I call thee, and, behold, thou hast even blessed them these three times.
10 E a ira de Balaque se acendeu contra Balaão, e ele bateu as mãos; e Balaque disse a Balaão: Chamei-te para amaldiçoar os meus inimigos; e eis que tu os abençoaste três vezes.
11 And now flee thou to thy place: I thought to honor thee greatly; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honor.
11 Agora portanto, foge para o teu lugar; eu pensava honrar-te grandemente, mas o SENHOR te privou desta honra.
12 And Bil’am said unto Balak, Did I not already speak to thy messengers, whom thou sentest unto me, saying,
12 E Balaão disse a Balaque: Não falei eu também aos teus mensageiros, os quais tu me enviaste, dizendo:
13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not transgress the order of the Lord, to do good or evil out of my own heart: what the Lord will speak, that must I speak?
13 E se Balaque me desse a sua casa cheia de prata e ouro, eu não posso ir além da ordem do SENHOR, fazendo bem ou mal de minha própria mente; mas o que o SENHOR disser, isso eu falarei?
14 And now, behold, I am going unto my people: come, I will advise thee against what this people will do to thy people in the end of days.
14 E agora eis que vou ao meu povo; portanto vem, e eu te advertirei do que este povo fará ao teu povo nos últimos dias.
15 And he took up his parable and said, Thus saith Bil’am the son of Beor, and thus saith the man whose eyes are open;
15 E ele proferiu a sua parábola, e disse: Fala Balaão, filho de Beor, e fala o homem de olhos abertos;
16 Thus saith he who heareth the sayings of God, and knoweth the knowledge of the Most High, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, falling down, with unvailed eyes:
16 fala aquele que ouviu os ditos de Deus e o que sabe a ciência de Elyon; o que viu a visão de Shaddai, que cai, mas com os olhos abertos:
17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not nigh; there steppeth forth a star out of Jacob, and there ariseth a sceptre out of Israel, and he pierceth the chiefs of Moab, and destroyeth all the children of Sheth.
17 eu o verei, mas não agora; e o contemplarei mas não de perto. Virá uma Estrela de Jacó, e um Cetro subirá de Israel, e ferirá os cantos de Moabe, e destruirá todos os filhos de Sete.
18 And Edom shall be a conquest, and Seir shall be a conquest for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
18 E Edom será uma possessão; Seir também será uma possessão para os seus inimigos; e Israel fará proezas.
19 And there shall rule the one from Jacob, and he shall destroy whatever escapeth out of the city.
19 De Jacó virá um que dominará, e destruirá os sobreviventes da cidade.
20 And he looked on Amalek, and he took up his parable, and said, The first of nations is Amalek; but his latter end shall be destruction for ever.
20 E, quando olhou para Amaleque, proferiu a sua parábola, e disse: Amaleque foi o primeiro das nações; mas o seu fim será que ele pereça, para sempre.
21 And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling–place, and placed on the rock is thy nest.
21 E, ao olhar para os queneus, proferiu a sua parábola, e disse: Forte é a tua morada, e puseste o teu ninho em uma rocha.
22 Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted: whither will Asshur carry thee away captive?
22 Todavia, o queneu será consumido, até que Assur te leve cativo.
23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doth appoint this one?
23 E proferiu a sua parábola, e disse: Ai, quem viverá, quando Deus fizer isto?
24 But ships will come from the coast of Kittim, and will afflict Asshur, and will afflict ‘Eber; and he also will be given to destruction for ever.
24 E virão navios da costa de Quitim, e afligirão a Assur; e afligirão a Héber; e ele também perecerá para sempre.
25 And Bil’am rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
25 E Balaão se levantou, e retornou ao seu lugar; e Balaque também seguiu o seu caminho.
