1 And Balaam sayd vnto Balak, Builde me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullockes, and seuen rammes.
1 Balaão disse a Balaque: “Construa aqui sete altares e prepare sete novilhos e sete carneiros”.
2 And Balak did as Balaam sayd, and Balak and Balaam offred on euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
2 Balaque seguiu as instruções de Balaão, e os dois ofereceram um novilho e um carneiro em cada altar.
3 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Stande by the burnt offring, and I will goe, if so be that the Lord will come and meete me: and whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I will tell thee: so he went forth alone.
3 Então Balaão disse a Balaque: “Fique aqui junto aos holocaustos enquanto eu vejo se o S enhor virá ao meu encontro. Depois lhe direi o que ele me revelar”. Em seguida, subiu sozinho até o topo de um monte sem vegetação,
4 And God met Balaam, and Balaam sayd vnto him, I haue prepared seuen altars, and haue offred vpon euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
4 e Deus veio ao encontro dele. Balaão disse: “Preparei sete altares e ofereci um novilho e um carneiro em cada altar”.
5 And the Lord put an answere in Balaams mouth, and sayde, Go againe to Balak, and say on this wise.
5 O S enhor deu a Balaão uma mensagem para o rei Balaque e disse: “Volte até onde Balaque está e transmita-lhe essa mensagem”.
6 So when he returned vnto him, loe, hee stoode by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
6 Balaão voltou e encontrou o rei junto aos holocaustos e, com ele, todos os líderes de Moabe.
7 Then he vttered his parable, and sayde, Balak the king of Moab hath brought mee from Aram out of the mountaines of the East, saying, Come, curse Iaakob for my sake: come, and detest Israel.
7 Esta foi a mensagem que Balaão transmitiu: “Balaque me trouxe desde Arã; o rei de Moabe me trouxe dos montes do leste. ‘Venha’, disse ele, ‘amaldiçoe Jacó para mim! Venha e anuncie a condenação de Israel!’
8 How shall I curse, where God hath not cursed? or howe shall I detest, where the Lord hath not detested?
8 Mas como posso amaldiçoar aqueles que Deus não amaldiçoou? Como posso condenar aqueles que o S
9 For from the top of the rocks I did see him, and from the hils I did beholde him: lo, the people shall dwell by themselues, and shall not be reckened among the nations.
9 Do alto dos rochedos eu os vejo, dos montes os observo. Vejo um povo que vive só, separado das outras nações.
10 Who can tell the dust of Iaakob, and the nomber of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last ende be like his.
10 Quem pode contar os descendentes de Jacó, tão numerosos quanto o pó? Quem pode contar ao menos um quarto de Israel? Que eu morra como os justos! Que meu fim seja como o deles!”.
11 Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, What hast thou done vnto mee? I tooke thee to curse mine enemies, and beholde, thou hast blessed them altogether.
11 Então o rei Balaque disse a Balaão: “O que você me fez? Eu o trouxe aqui para amaldiçoar meus inimigos; em vez disso, você os abençoou!”.
12 And he answered, and said, Must I not take heede to speake that, which the Lord hath put in my mouth?
12 Balaão respondeu: “Como eu poderia transmitir algo diferente daquilo que o S enhor pôs em minha boca?”.
13 And Balak sayde vnto him, Come, I pray thee, with mee vnto another place, whence thou mayest see them, and thou shalt see but the vtmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: therefore curse them out of that place for my sake.
13 Então Balaque lhe disse: “Venha comigo a outro lugar. Dali, você verá outra parte do povo, mas não ele todo. Amaldiçoe dali o povo!”.
14 And he brought him into Sede-sophim to the top of Pisgah, and built seuen altars, and offred a bullocke, and a ramme on euery altar.
14 Então Balaque levou Balaão ao campo de Zofim, no alto do monte Pisga. Construiu ali sete altares e ofereceu um novilho e um carneiro em cada altar.
15 After, he sayde vnto Balak, Stande here by thy burnt offring, and I wil meete the Lord yonder.
15 Balaão disse ao rei: “Fique aqui junto aos holocaustos enquanto eu vou ao encontro do S enhor ”.
16 And the Lord mette Balaam, and put an answere in his mouth, and sayd, Goe againe vnto Balak, and say thus.
16 Então o S enhor veio ao encontro de Balaão e lhe transmitiu uma mensagem, e depois disse: “Volte até onde Balaque está e transmita-lhe essa mensagem”.
17 And when he came to him, beholde, hee stoode by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him: so Balak sayde vnto him, What hath the Lord sayd?
17 Balaão voltou e encontrou o rei junto aos holocaustos e, com ele, todos os oficiais de Moabe. “O que o S enhor disse?”, perguntou Balaque.
18 And he vttered his parable, and sayde, Rise vp, Balak, and heare: hearken vnto me, thou sonne of Zippor.
18 Esta foi a mensagem que Balaão transmitiu: “Levante-se, Balaque, e preste atenção! Ouça-me, filho de Zipor!
19 God is not as man, that he should lie, neither as the sonne of man that he shoulde repent: hath he sayde and shall he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shall he not accomplish it?
19 Deus não é homem para mentir, nem ser humano para mudar de ideia. Alguma vez ele falou e não agiu? Alguma vez prometeu e não cumpriu?
20 Behold, I haue receiued commandement to blesse: for he hath blessed, and I cannot alter it.
20 Ouça, recebi ordem de abençoar; Deus abençoou, e não posso anular sua bênção!
21 Hee seeth none iniquitie in Iaakob, nor seeth no transgression in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the ioyfull shoute of a king is among them.
21 Quando ele olha para Jacó, não vê maldade alguma; não vê calamidade à espera de Israel. Pois o S foi aclamado como seu rei.
22 God brought them out of Egypt: their strength is as an vnicorne.
22 Deus os tirou do Egito; ele é forte como o boi selvagem.
23 For there is no sorcerie in Iaakob, nor soothsaying in Israel: according to this time it shalbe sayde of Iaakob and of Israel, What hath God wrought?
23 Encantamento algum pode tocar Jacó, magia alguma tem poder contra Israel. Agora se dirá a respeito de Jacó: ‘Vejam o que Deus fez por Israel!’.
24 Behold, the people shall rise vp as a lyon, and lift vp himselfe as a yong lyon: hee shall not lye downe, till he eate of the pray, and till he drinke the blood of the slayne.
24 Este povo se levanta como leoa, como leão majestoso que desperta. Não descansa enquanto não devora a presa e bebe o sangue dos que foram mortos!”.
25 Then Balak sayde vnto Balaam, Neither curse, nor blesse them at all.
25 Então Balaque disse a Balaão: “Pois bem! Se não os amaldiçoar, pelo menos não os abençoe!”.
26 But Balaam answered, and saide vnto Balak, Tolde not I thee, saying, All that the Lord speaketh, that must I do?
26 Mas Balaão respondeu: “Não lhe avisei que faria apenas o que o S enhor me ordenasse?”.
27 Againe Balak sayd vnto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I wil bring thee vnto another place, if so be it wil please God, that thou mayest thence curse them for my sake.
27 O rei Balaque disse a Balaão: “Venha, eu o levarei a mais um lugar. Quem sabe Deus se agrade de que você os amaldiçoe dali!”.
28 So Balak brought Balaam vnto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Ieshmon.
28 Balaque levou Balaão até o topo do monte Peor, de onde se vê o deserto.
29 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Make me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullocks, and seuen rammes.
29 Mais uma vez, Balaão disse a Balaque: “Construa sete altares e prepare sete novilhos e sete carneiros”.
30 And Balak did as Balaam had sayd, and offred a bullocke and a ram on euery altar.
30 Balaque seguiu as instruções de Balaão e ofereceu um novilho e um carneiro em cada altar.
