1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
1 Tu, pois, meu filho, fortifica-te na graça que há em Cristo Jesus;
2 And those (doctrines) which thou hast heard from me by many witnesses, them commit to faithful men, who are also able to teach others.
2 e o que de mim ouviste de muitas testemunhas, transmite-o a homens fiéis, que sejam idôneos para também ensinarem os outros.
3 And endure evils as a good soldier of Jeshu Meshiha.
3 Sofre comigo como bom soldado de Cristo Jesus.
4 No man serveth as a soldier, and entangleth himself with the affairs of the world, that he might please him who hath chosen him.
4 Nenhum soldado em serviço se embaraça com negócios desta vida, a fim de agradar àquele que o alistou para a guerra.
5 And if one contendeth, he is not crowned, unless according to his law he contend.
5 E também se um atleta lutar nos jogos públicos, não será coroado se não lutar legitimamente.
6 It becometh the husbandman who laboureth that he should first eat of his fruits.
6 O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a gozar dos frutos.
7 Understand what I say to thee. Our Lord give thee wisdom in all things.
7 Considera o que digo, porque o Senhor te dará entendimento em tudo.
8 Remember Jeshu Meshiha, that he arose from among the dead, he who is of the seed of David, according to my gospel;
8 Lembra-te de Jesus Cristo, ressurgido dentre os mortos, descendente de Davi, segundo o meu evangelho,
9 for which I endure evils unto bonds, as an evil-doer: but the word of Aloha is not bound.
9 pelo qual sofro a ponto de ser preso como malfeitor; mas a palavra de Deus não está presa.
10 Therefore I endure every thing on account of the elect, that they also may find salvation in Jeshu Meshiha, with the glory that is eternal.
10 Por isso, tudo suporto por amor dos eleitos, para que também eles alcancem a salvação que há em Cristo Jesus com glória eterna.
11 Faithful is the word: For if we be dead with him, With him also we shall live;
11 Fiel é esta palavra: Se, pois, já morremos com ele, também com ele viveremos;
12 And if we endure, We shall also reign with him; But, if we deny him, He also will deny us!
12 se perseveramos, com ele também reinaremos; se o negarmos, também ele nos negará;
13 And if we believe him not, He in his faithfulness abideth; For deny himself he cannot.
13 se somos infiéis, ele permanece fiel; porque não pode negar-se a si mesmo.
14 Of these (truths) remind them, and testify before our Lord, that they contend not with unprofitable words, to the overturning of those who hear them.
14 Lembra-lhes estas coisas, conjurando-os diante de Deus que não tenham contendas de palavras, que para nada aproveitam, senão para subverter os ouvintes.
15 And be careful to establish thyself perfectly before Aloha, a workman without shame, preaching rightly the word of truth.
15 Procura apresentar-te diante de Deus aprovado, como obreiro que não tem de que se envergonhar, que maneja bem a palavra da verdade.
16 From vain words which have no utility in them withdraw; for they add greatly to the wickedness of those who are occupied with them.
16 Mas evita as conversas vãs e profanas; porque os que delas usam passarão a impiedade ainda maior,
17 And their words as an eating cancer will lay hold upon many: but one of them is Hymeneos, and another Philetos,
17 e as suas palavras alastrarão como gangrena; entre os quais estão Himeneu e Fileto,
18 who have erred from the truth, saying, that the resurrection of the dead hath been, and the faith of some overturning.
18 que se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a ressurreição é já passada, e assim pervertem a fé a alguns.
19 But the true foundation of Aloha standeth; and it hath this signature: And the Lord knoweth them who are his. And, Let every one who invoketh the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.
19 Todavia o firme fundamento de Deus permanece, tendo este selo: O Senhor conhece os seus, e: Aparte-se da injustiça todo aquele que profere o nome do Senhor.
20 But in a great house there are not vessels of gold only or of silver, but also of wood, also of clay: of them (some are) to honour, and of them (some) to dishonour.
20 Ora, numa grande casa, não somente há vasos de ouro e de prata, mas também de madeira e de barro; e uns, na verdade, para uso honroso, outros, porém, para uso desonroso.
21 If a man then purify himself from these, he will be a pure vessel unto honour, fitted for the use of his Lord, and prepared for every good work.
21 Se, pois, alguém se purificar destas coisas, será vaso para honra, santificado e útil ao Senhor, preparado para toda boa obra.
22 From all the lusts of youth escape; and pursue after righteousness, and faith, and charity, and peace, with them who call upon the Lord with a pure heart.
22 Foge também das paixões da mocidade, e segue a justiça, a fé, o amor, a paz com os que, de coração puro, invocam o Senhor.
23 From foolish controversies which are without instruction withdraw; for thou knowest that they beget strifes.
23 E rejeita as questões tolas e desassisadas, sabendo que geram contendas;
24 But a servant of the Lord oweth not to strive, but to be gentle towards every man, and teaching, and long-suffering,
24 e ao servo do Senhor não convém contender, mas sim ser brando para com todos, apto para ensinar, paciente;
25 that he may instruct them who would contend against him with meekness, if by any means Aloha may give them conversion, and they may acknowledge the truth,
25 corrigindo com mansidão os que resistem, na esperança de que Deus lhes conceda o arrependimento para conhecerem plenamente a verdade,
26 and be mindful of themselves, and remove from the snare of Satana, by whom they have been entrapped at his will.
26 e que se desprendam dos laços do Diabo {por quem haviam sido presos}, para cumprirem a vontade de Deus.
