1 Now this, my beloved, the second epistle I write to you; in both of which I awaken to remembrance your fair mind.
1 Amados, escrevo-vos, agora, esta segunda carta, em ambas as quais desperto com exortação o vosso ânimo sincero,
2 That you may remember the words which were before spoken by the holy prophets, and the commandments of our Lord and our Saviour (delivered) by the apostles.
2 para que vos lembreis das palavras que primeiramente foram ditas pelos santos profetas e do mandamento do Senhor e Salvador, mediante os vossos apóstolos,
3 This first know you, that there will come in the last of the days deriders who will deride, as after their own lusts they walk,
3 sabendo primeiro isto: que nos últimos dias virão escarnecedores, andando segundo as suas próprias concupiscências
4 and saying, Where is the promise of his advent? for, since our fathers have slept, every thing (abideth) as from the beginning of the creation.
4 e dizendo: Onde está a promessa da sua vinda? Porque desde que os pais dormiram todas as coisas permanecem como desde o princípio da criação.
5 Unknown to them is this while they are willing, that the heaven was from of old, and the earth from the waters and through the waters subsisted, by the word of Aloha:
5 Eles voluntariamente ignoram isto: que pela palavra de Deus já desde a antiguidade existiram os céus e a terra, que foi tirada da água e no meio da água subsiste;
6 those (waters) by which the world that then was, again (was covered) with waters, and perished.
6 pelas quais coisas pereceu o mundo de então, coberto com as águas do dilúvio.
7 But the heaven which is now, and the earth, by his own word are set, being reserved unto fire, unto the day of judgment and the perdition of wicked men.
7 Mas os céus e a terra que agora existem pela mesma palavra se reservam como tesouro e se guardam para o fogo, até o Dia do Juízo e da perdição dos homens ímpios.
8 But this one (truth) be not ignorant of, my beloved, That one day with the Lord (is) as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
8 Mas, amados, não ignoreis uma coisa: que um dia para o Senhor é como mil anos, e mil anos, como um dia.
9 Not dilatory is the Lord in his promises, as some consider delay; but is patient on your account, not willing that any man should perish, but (that) every man to repentance should come.
9 O Senhor não retarda a sua promessa, ainda que alguns a têm por tardia; mas é longânimo para convosco, não querendo que alguns se percam, senão que todos venham a arrepender-se.
10 But the day of the Lord cometh as a thief: that (day) in which the heavens suddenly shall pass away, but the elements burning be dissolved, and the earth and the works that are in it be found not.
10 Mas o Dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite, no qual os céus passarão com grande estrondo, e os elementos, ardendo, se desfarão, e a terra e as obras que nela há se queimarão.
11 As, therefore, all these are to be dissolved, how behoveth it you to be holy in your conversation, and in the fear of Aloha;
11 Havendo, pois, de perecer todas estas coisas, que pessoas vos convém ser em santo trato e piedade,
12 expecting and desiring the coming of the day of Aloha; that (day) in which the heavens, tried with fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements burning shall melt?
12 aguardando e apressando- vos para a vinda do Dia de Deus, em que os céus, em fogo, se desfarão, e os elementos, ardendo, se fundirão?
13 But new heavens and earth, according to his promise, we expect; those wherein righteousness dwelleth.
13 Mas nós, segundo a sua promessa, aguardamos novos céus e nova terra, em que habita a justiça.
14 Wherefore, my beloved, while these you expect, be diligent, that, without blemish and without spot, of Him you may be found in peace.
14 Pelo que, amados, aguardando estas coisas, procurai que dele sejais achados imaculados e irrepreensíveis em paz
15 And the long-suffering of the Lord consider (to be for) salvation; as also our beloved brother Paulos according to the wisdom which hath been given to him hath written to you.
15 e tende por salvação a longanimidade de nosso Senhor, como também o nosso amado irmão Paulo vos escreveu, segundo a sabedoria que lhe foi dada,
16 As in all his epistles he speaks concerning these; in which there is somewhat difficult for intelligence. Those who are not knowing nor settled pervert them, as also the remaining scriptures, to their perdition.
16 falando disto, como em todas as suas epístolas, entre as quais há pontos difíceis de entender, que os indoutos e inconstantes torcem e igualmente as outras Escrituras, para sua própria perdição.
17 You therefore, my beloved, knowing this before, keep yourselves, lest, going after the error of those who are lawless, you fall from your support.
17 Vós, portanto, amados, sabendo isto de antemão, guardai-vos de que, pelo engano dos homens abomináveis, sejais juntamente arrebatados e descaiais da vossa firmeza;
18 But increase in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and our Saviour Jeshu Meshiha, and (of) Aloha the Father, Whose be glory both now, and in all time, and to the days eternal. Amen.
18 antes, crescei na graça e conhecimento de nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo. A ele seja dada a glória, assim agora como no dia da eternidade. Amém!
