1 But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G1722" Spirit|strong="G4151" distinctly says|strong="G3004" that|strong="G3754" in|strong="G1722" later|strong="G5306" times|strong="G2540" there|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" some|strong="G5100" who|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2532" fall away from|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" faith|strong="G4102", and|strong="G2532" devote their|strong="G2532" attention|strong="G4337" to|strong="G2532" misleading spirits|strong="G4151", and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" teaching|strong="G1319" of|strong="G4151" demons|strong="G1140",
2 who|strong="G3588" will|strong="G1722" make use|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" hypocrisy|strong="G5272" of|strong="G1722" lying teachers. These|strong="G3588" people|strong="G3588"’s consciences|strong="G4893" are|strong="G3588" seared,
3 and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" discourage marriage|strong="G1060" and|strong="G2532" enjoin abstinence from|strong="G2532" certain|strong="G2532" kinds of|strong="G2316" food|strong="G1033"; though|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" created|strong="G2936" these|strong="G3739" foods|strong="G1033" to|strong="G1519" be|strong="G2532" enjoyed thankfully by|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" hold the|strong="G2532" faith|strong="G3739" and|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" attained a|strong="G2532" full knowledge|strong="G1921" of|strong="G2316" the|strong="G2532" truth.
4 Everything|strong="G3956" created|strong="G2938" by|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" is|strong="G2316" good|strong="G2570", and|strong="G2532" there|strong="G2532" is|strong="G2316" nothing|strong="G3762" that|strong="G3754" need be|strong="G2532" rejected – provided only|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3754" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G2316" received|strong="G2983" thankfully;
5 for|strong="G1063" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G2316" consecrated by|strong="G1223" God|strong="G2316"’s blessing and|strong="G2532" by|strong="G1223" prayer|strong="G1783".
6 Put|strong="G2532" all|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" before|strong="G3588" the|strong="G2532" followers|strong="G3588", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2532" good|strong="G2570" servant|strong="G1249" of|strong="G3056" Christ|strong="G5547" Jesus|strong="G2424", sustained by|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" precepts of|strong="G3056" the|strong="G2532" faith|strong="G4102" and|strong="G2532" of|strong="G3056" that|strong="G3739" good|strong="G2570" teaching|strong="G1319" by|strong="G2532" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" have|strong="G2532" guided your|strong="G2532" life.
7 As|strong="G1161" for|strong="G4314" profane legends and|strong="G2532" old|strong="G2532" wives’ tales|strong="G3454", leave them|strong="G3588" alone. Train|strong="G1128" yourself|strong="G4572" to|strong="G4314" lead|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" religious life;
8 for|strong="G1063" while|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" training of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" body is|strong="G1510" of|strong="G2532" service in|strong="G2532" some|strong="G3588" respects|strong="G3956", religion is|strong="G1510" of|strong="G2532" service in|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956", carrying with|strong="G4314" it|strong="G2532", as|strong="G1161" it|strong="G2532" does|strong="G2192", a|strong="G2192" promise|strong="G1860" of|strong="G2532" life|strong="G2222" both|strong="G2532" here|strong="G1510" and|strong="G2532" hereafter|strong="G3195".
9 How true|strong="G4103" that|strong="G3588" saying|strong="G3056" is|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" worthy of|strong="G3056" the|strong="G2532" fullest acceptance!
10 With|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3754" aim we|strong="G3739" toil|strong="G2872" and|strong="G2532" struggle, for|strong="G1063" we|strong="G3739" have|strong="G2532" set|strong="G1679" our|strong="G2316" hopes|strong="G1679" on|strong="G1909" the|strong="G2532" living|strong="G2198" God|strong="G2316", who|strong="G3739" is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" Saviour|strong="G4990" of|strong="G2316" all|strong="G3956", and|strong="G2532" especially|strong="G3122" of|strong="G2316" those|strong="G3778" who|strong="G3739" hold the|strong="G2532" faith|strong="G3739".
11 Remember these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778" in|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" teaching|strong="G1321".
12 Do|strong="G1096" not|strong="G3367" let|strong="G1096" anyone|strong="G3367" look|strong="G1096" down|strong="G2706" on|strong="G1722" you|strong="G4771" because|strong="G1722" you|strong="G4771" are|strong="G3588" young, but|strong="G3588", by|strong="G1722" your|strong="G1722" conversation|strong="G3056", your|strong="G1722" conduct, your|strong="G1722" love, your|strong="G1722" faith|strong="G4102", and|strong="G4102" your|strong="G1722" purity, be|strong="G1096" an|strong="G1722" example|strong="G5179" to|strong="G1722" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" hold the|strong="G1722" faith|strong="G4102".
13 Until|strong="G2193" I|strong="G2193" come|strong="G2064", apply yourself to|strong="G2064" public reading, preaching, and|strong="G2064" teaching|strong="G1319".
14 Do|strong="G3361" not|strong="G3361" neglect the|strong="G1722" divine gift|strong="G5486" within|strong="G1722" you|strong="G4771", which|strong="G3739" was|strong="G3588" given|strong="G1325" you|strong="G4771", amid|strong="G3326" many|strong="G1722" a|strong="G1722" prediction, when|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" hands|strong="G5495" of|strong="G1223" the|strong="G1722" church elders|strong="G4244" were|strong="G3588" laid|strong="G1936" on|strong="G1722" your|strong="G1223" head.
15 Practice these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3956", devote yourself|strong="G4771" to|strong="G2443" them|strong="G3588", so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" your|strong="G3956" progress|strong="G4297" may|strong="G2443" be|strong="G1510" plain|strong="G5318" to|strong="G2443" everyone|strong="G3956".
16 Look to|strong="G2532" yourself|strong="G4572" as|strong="G2532" well|strong="G4982" as|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" teaching|strong="G1319". Persevere|strong="G1961" in|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778", for|strong="G1063" your|strong="G2532" doing|strong="G4160" so|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" mean salvation|strong="G4982" for|strong="G1063" yourself|strong="G4572" as|strong="G2532" well|strong="G4982" as|strong="G2532" for|strong="G1063" your|strong="G2532" hearers.
