In|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" synagogue|strong="G4864" there|strong="G1563" was|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2192" man|strong="G0444" with|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2192" crippled hand|strong="G5495".
2 Some|strong="G3588" Jews there|strong="G1722" were|strong="G3588" watching|strong="G3906" Jesus|strong="G0846" closely|strong="G3906". They|strong="G0846" were|strong="G3588" waiting to|strong="G2443" see if|strong="G1487" he|strong="G2532" would|strong="G0846" heal|strong="G2323" the|strong="G3588" man on|strong="G1722" a|strong="G1487" Sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G4521". They|strong="G0846" wanted to|strong="G2443" see Jesus|strong="G0846" do|strong="G2532" something wrong so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" they|strong="G0846" could accuse|strong="G2723" him|strong="G0846".
3 Jesus|strong="G3004" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" man|strong="G0444" with|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" crippled hand|strong="G5495", “Stand|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453" here|strong="G1519" so|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3004" everyone can|strong="G3004" see you|strong="G3004".”
4 Then|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" asked|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846", “Which|strong="G3588" is|strong="G0018" the|strong="G3588" right|strong="G0015" thing|strong="G0018" to|strong="G3004" do|strong="G4160" on|strong="G2228" the|strong="G3588" Sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G4521": to|strong="G3004" do|strong="G4160" good|strong="G0018" or|strong="G2228" to|strong="G3004" do|strong="G4160" evil|strong="G2554"? Is|strong="G0018" it|strong="G0846" right|strong="G0015" to|strong="G3004" save|strong="G4982" a|strong="G4160" life|strong="G5590" or|strong="G2228" to|strong="G3004" destroy|strong="G0615" one|strong="G3588"?” The|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" nothing to|strong="G3004" answer him|strong="G0846".
5 Jesus|strong="G0846" looked|strong="G4017" at|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0444". He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" man|strong="G0444", “Hold out|strong="G1438" your|strong="G2532" hand|strong="G5495".” The|strong="G3588" man|strong="G0444" held out|strong="G1438" his|strong="G0846" hand|strong="G5495", and|strong="G2532" it|strong="G0846" was|strong="G3588" healed.
6 Then|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330" left|strong="G1831" and|strong="G2532" made|strong="G4160" plans with|strong="G3326" the|strong="G3588" Herodians|strong="G2265" about|strong="G2596" a|strong="G4160" way|strong="G2596" to|strong="G2596" kill Jesus|strong="G0846".
7 Jesus|strong="G2424" went|strong="G0402" away|strong="G0575" with|strong="G3326" his|strong="G0846" followers to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" lake|strong="G2281". A|strong="G2532" large|strong="G4183" crowd|strong="G4128" of|strong="G0575" people|strong="G4128" from|strong="G0575" Galilee|strong="G1056" followed|strong="G0190" them|strong="G0846".
8 Many|strong="G4183" also|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" from|strong="G0575" Judea, from|strong="G0575" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", from|strong="G0575" Idumea|strong="G2401", from|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" area across|strong="G4008" the|strong="G3588" Jordan|strong="G2446" River, and|strong="G2532" from|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" area around|strong="G4012" Tyre|strong="G5184" and|strong="G2532" Sidon|strong="G4605". These|strong="G3588" people|strong="G4128" came|strong="G2064" because|strong="G0575" they|strong="G0846" heard|strong="G0191" about|strong="G4012" all|strong="G3745" that|strong="G0191" Jesus|strong="G0846" was|strong="G3588" doing|strong="G4160".
9 Jesus|strong="G0846" saw how many|strong="G3793" people|strong="G3793" there|strong="G3101" were|strong="G3793", so|strong="G2443" he|strong="G2532" told|strong="G3004" his|strong="G0846" followers to|strong="G2443" get a|strong="G3793" small|strong="G4142" boat|strong="G4142" and|strong="G2532" make|strong="G3361" it|strong="G0846" ready|strong="G4342" for|strong="G1223" him|strong="G0846". He|strong="G2532" wanted the|strong="G3588" boat|strong="G4142" so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" the|strong="G3588" crowds|strong="G3793" of|strong="G1223" people|strong="G3793" could|strong="G3361" not|strong="G3361" push against|strong="G0846" him|strong="G0846".
10 He|strong="G0846" had|strong="G2192" healed|strong="G2323" many|strong="G4183" of|strong="G2192" them|strong="G0846", so|strong="G2443" all|strong="G3745" the|strong="G2192" sick people|strong="G0846" were|strong="G0846" pushing toward him|strong="G0846" to|strong="G2443" touch|strong="G0681" him|strong="G0846".
11 Some|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" had|strong="G1510" evil spirits|strong="G4151" inside them|strong="G0846". When|strong="G3752" the|strong="G3588" evil spirits|strong="G4151" saw|strong="G2334" Jesus|strong="G0846", they|strong="G0846" bowed before|strong="G4363" him|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" shouted|strong="G2896", “You|strong="G4771" are|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3588" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" God|strong="G2316"!”
12 But|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" gave|strong="G4160" the|strong="G2532" spirits a|strong="G4160" strong warning not|strong="G3361" to|strong="G2443" tell|strong="G5318" anyone|strong="G0846" who|strong="G0846" he|strong="G2532" was|strong="G0846".
13 Then|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" went|strong="G0565" up|strong="G0305" on|strong="G1519" a|strong="G3739" hill|strong="G3735" and|strong="G2532" invited those|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2532" wanted|strong="G2309" to|strong="G1519" go|strong="G0565" with|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846". So|strong="G2532" they|strong="G0846" joined him|strong="G0846" there|strong="G3739".
14 And|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" chose twelve|strong="G1427" men|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" called them|strong="G0846" apostles. He|strong="G2532" wanted these|strong="G0846" twelve|strong="G1427" men|strong="G0846" to|strong="G2443" be|strong="G1510" with|strong="G3326" him|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" wanted to|strong="G2443" send|strong="G0649" them|strong="G0846" to|strong="G2443" other|strong="G1438" places to|strong="G2443" tell people|strong="G0846" God’s|strong="G0846" message.
15 He|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" wanted them|strong="G1544" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" the|strong="G3588" power|strong="G1849" to|strong="G2532" force demons|strong="G1140" out|strong="G1544" of|strong="G2192" people|strong="G3588".
16 These|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" names|strong="G3686" of|strong="G3686" the|strong="G3588" twelve|strong="G1427" men Jesus|strong="G2532" chose:
17 James|strong="G2385" and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" brother|strong="G0080" John|strong="G2491", the|strong="G3588" sons|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Zebedee|strong="G2199" (the|strong="G3588" ones Jesus|strong="G0846" named|strong="G3686" Boanerges|strong="G0993", which|strong="G3739" means|strong="G1510" “Sons|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Thunder|strong="G1027"”),
18 Andrew|strong="G0406",
19 Judas|strong="G2455" Iscariot|strong="G2469" (the|strong="G2532" one|strong="G3739" who|strong="G3739" handed|strong="G3860" Jesus|strong="G0846" over|strong="G3860" to|strong="G1519" his|strong="G0846" enemies).
20 Then|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" went|strong="G2064" home|strong="G3624", but|strong="G2532" again|strong="G3825" a|strong="G3793" large crowd|strong="G3793" gathered|strong="G4905" there. There were|strong="G3793" so|strong="G2532" many|strong="G3793" people|strong="G3793" that|strong="G5620" he|strong="G2532" and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" followers could|strong="G1410" not|strong="G3361" eat|strong="G2068".
21 His|strong="G0846" family heard|strong="G0191" about|strong="G3588" all|strong="G3588" these|strong="G3748" things|strong="G0846". They|strong="G0846" went|strong="G1831" to|strong="G3004" get|strong="G1831" him|strong="G0846" because|strong="G3754" people|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" he|strong="G2532" was|strong="G3588" crazy.
22 And|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" teachers of|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" law from|strong="G0575" Jerusalem|strong="G2414" said|strong="G3004", “Satan is|strong="G3588" living|strong="G2192" inside|strong="G1722" him|strong="G2532"! He|strong="G2532" uses power from|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" ruler|strong="G0758" of|strong="G0575" demons|strong="G1140" to|strong="G3004" force demons|strong="G1140" out|strong="G1544" of|strong="G0575" people|strong="G3588".”
23 So|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" called|strong="G3004" them|strong="G0846" together|strong="G1722" and|strong="G2532" talked to|strong="G3004" them|strong="G0846" using|strong="G3004" some|strong="G3004" stories. He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", “Satan|strong="G4567" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G1410" force his|strong="G0846" own|strong="G1438" demons out|strong="G1544" of|strong="G1722" people|strong="G0846".
24 A|strong="G1437" kingdom|strong="G0932" that|strong="G1565" fights against|strong="G1909" itself|strong="G1438" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" survive.
25 And|strong="G2532" a|strong="G1437" family that|strong="G1565" is|strong="G3588" divided|strong="G3307" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" survive.
26 If|strong="G1487" Satan|strong="G4567" is|strong="G3588" against|strong="G1909" himself|strong="G1438" and|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" fighting against|strong="G1909" his|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" people|strong="G3588", he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" survive. That|strong="G1438" would|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" end|strong="G5056" of|strong="G1909" Satan|strong="G4567".
27 “Whoever|strong="G3588" wants to|strong="G1519" enter|strong="G1525" a|strong="G1437" strong|strong="G2478" man’s|strong="G2478" house|strong="G3614" and|strong="G2532" steal his|strong="G0846" things|strong="G0846" must|strong="G1525" first|strong="G4413" tie|strong="G1210" him|strong="G0846" up|strong="G1210". Then|strong="G2532" they|strong="G0846" can|strong="G1410" steal the|strong="G3588" things|strong="G0846" from|strong="G3361" his|strong="G0846" house|strong="G3614".
28 “I|strong="G0281" want you|strong="G5210" to|strong="G3004" know|strong="G0988" that|strong="G3754" people|strong="G0444" can|strong="G3004" be|strong="G2532" forgiven|strong="G0863" for|strong="G3754" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" sinful things|strong="G3956" they|strong="G2532" do|strong="G3004". They|strong="G2532" can|strong="G3004" even|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" forgiven|strong="G0863" for|strong="G3754" the|strong="G3956" bad things|strong="G3956" they|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004" against|strong="G0987" God|strong="G3004".
29 But|strong="G1161" anyone|strong="G3739" who|strong="G3739" speaks against|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" Holy|strong="G0040" Spirit|strong="G4151" will|strong="G1510" never|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" forgiven. They|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" always be|strong="G1510" guilty|strong="G1777" of|strong="G4151" that|strong="G3739" sin|strong="G0265".”
30 Jesus|strong="G3004" said|strong="G3004" this|strong="G3748" because|strong="G3754" the|strong="G2192" teachers of|strong="G4151" the|strong="G2192" law had|strong="G2192" accused him of|strong="G4151" having|strong="G2192" an|strong="G2192" evil spirit|strong="G4151" inside him.
31 Then|strong="G2532" Jesus’|strong="G3384" mother|strong="G3384" and|strong="G2532" brothers|strong="G0080" came|strong="G2064". They|strong="G0846" stood outside|strong="G1854" and|strong="G2532" sent|strong="G0649" someone in|strong="G2532" to|strong="G4314" tell him|strong="G0846" to|strong="G4314" come|strong="G2064" out|strong="G1854".
32 Many|strong="G3793" people|strong="G3793" were|strong="G3793" sitting|strong="G2521" around|strong="G4012" Jesus|strong="G0846". They|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G0846", “Your|strong="G3708" mother|strong="G3384" and|strong="G2532" brothers|strong="G0080" are|strong="G3588" waiting for|strong="G4012" you|strong="G4771" outside|strong="G1854".”
33 Jesus|strong="G0846" asked|strong="G3004", “Who|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" my|strong="G3004" mother|strong="G3384"? Who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G1510" my|strong="G3004" brothers|strong="G0080"?”
34 Then|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" looked|strong="G3708" at|strong="G4017" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" sitting|strong="G2521" around|strong="G4012" him|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", “These|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" are|strong="G3588" my|strong="G3708" mother|strong="G3384" and|strong="G2532" my|strong="G3708" brothers|strong="G0080"!
35 My|strong="G3739" true brother|strong="G0080" and|strong="G2532" sister|strong="G0079" and|strong="G2532" mother|strong="G3384" are|strong="G1510" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" do|strong="G4160" what|strong="G3739" God|strong="G2316" wants|strong="G2307".”
