16 Jesus|strong="G1510" was|strong="G1510" walking by|strong="G1722" Lake|strong="G2281" Galilee|strong="G1056". He|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G3708" Simon|strong="G4613" and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G3708" brother|strong="G0080" Andrew|strong="G0406". These|strong="G3588" two men were|strong="G1510" fishermen|strong="G0231", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" were|strong="G1510" throwing|strong="G0906" a|strong="G1510" net into|strong="G0906" the|strong="G3588" lake|strong="G2281" to|strong="G2532" catch fish.
17 Jesus|strong="G2424" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" them|strong="G0846", “Come|strong="G1096", follow|strong="G3694" me|strong="G3004", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G0444" make|strong="G4160" you|strong="G5210" a|strong="G1096" different kind of|strong="G0444" fishermen|strong="G0231". You|strong="G5210" will|strong="G0444" bring|strong="G4160" in|strong="G2532" people|strong="G0444", not|strong="G4160" fish.”
18 So|strong="G2532" they|strong="G0846" immediately|strong="G2117" left|strong="G0863" their|strong="G0846" nets|strong="G1350" and|strong="G2532" followed|strong="G0190" Jesus|strong="G0846".
19 Jesus|strong="G0846" continued walking by|strong="G1722" Lake Galilee. He|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G3708" two more brothers|strong="G0080", James|strong="G2385" and|strong="G2532" John|strong="G2491", the|strong="G3588" sons of|strong="G1722" Zebedee|strong="G2199". They|strong="G0846" were|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" their|strong="G0846" boat|strong="G4143", preparing their|strong="G0846" nets|strong="G1350" to|strong="G2532" catch fish.
20 Their|strong="G0846" father|strong="G3962" Zebedee|strong="G2199" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" men|strong="G0846" who|strong="G3588" worked for|strong="G1722" him|strong="G0846" were|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" boat|strong="G4143" with|strong="G3326" the|strong="G3588" brothers. On|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" Sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G4521", Jesus|strong="G2532" went|strong="G1531" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" synagogue|strong="G4864" and|strong="G2532" taught|strong="G1321" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G3588".
22 They|strong="G0846" were|strong="G1510" amazed|strong="G1605" at|strong="G1909" his|strong="G0846" teaching|strong="G1321". He|strong="G2532" did|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" teach|strong="G1321" like|strong="G5613" their|strong="G0846" teachers of|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3588" law. He|strong="G2532" taught|strong="G1321" like|strong="G5613" someone with|strong="G1909" authority|strong="G1849".
23 While|strong="G1722" Jesus|strong="G0846" was|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" synagogue|strong="G4864", a|strong="G1510" man|strong="G0444" was|strong="G1510" there|strong="G1510" who|strong="G3588" had|strong="G1510" an|strong="G1510" evil spirit|strong="G4151" inside|strong="G1722" him|strong="G0846". The|strong="G3588" man|strong="G0444" shouted,
24 “Jesus|strong="G2424" of|strong="G2316" Nazareth|strong="G3479"! What|strong="G5101" do|strong="G1492" you|strong="G4771" want with|strong="G2316" us|strong="G3004"? Did|strong="G1492" you|strong="G4771" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G3004" destroy|strong="G0622" us|strong="G3004"? I|strong="G1473" know|strong="G1492" who|strong="G3588" you|strong="G4771" are|strong="G1510"—God’s|strong="G2316" Holy|strong="G0040" One|strong="G3588"!”
25 Jesus|strong="G2424", his|strong="G0846" voice full of|strong="G1537" warning, said|strong="G3004", “Be|strong="G2532" quiet|strong="G5392", and|strong="G2532" come|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G1537" him|strong="G0846"!”
26 The|strong="G3588" evil spirit|strong="G4151" made the|strong="G3588" man shake. Then|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" spirit|strong="G4151" made a|strong="G2532" loud|strong="G3173" noise and|strong="G2532" came|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G1537" him|strong="G0846".
27 The|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" were|strong="G1510" amazed|strong="G2284". They|strong="G0846" asked|strong="G3004" each|strong="G2596" other|strong="G1438", “What|strong="G5101" is|strong="G1510" happening here|strong="G1510"? This|strong="G3778" man|strong="G3778" is|strong="G1510" teaching|strong="G1322" something|strong="G5101" new|strong="G2537", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" teaches with|strong="G4314" authority|strong="G1849"! He|strong="G2532" even|strong="G2532" commands|strong="G2004" evil spirits|strong="G4151", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G0846" obey|strong="G5219" him|strong="G0846".”
28 So|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" news|strong="G0189" about|strong="G1519" Jesus|strong="G0846" spread|strong="G1831" quickly|strong="G2112" everywhere|strong="G3837" in|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" area of|strong="G3588" Galilee|strong="G1056".
29 Jesus|strong="G1831" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" followers left|strong="G1831" the|strong="G3588" synagogue|strong="G4864". They|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3588" went|strong="G1831" with|strong="G3326" James|strong="G2385" and|strong="G2532" John|strong="G2491" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" home|strong="G3614" of|strong="G1537" Simon|strong="G4613" and|strong="G2532" Andrew|strong="G0406".
30 Simon’s|strong="G4613" mother-in-law|strong="G3994" was|strong="G3588" very|strong="G0846" sick|strong="G2621". She|strong="G0846" was|strong="G3588" in|strong="G2532" bed and|strong="G2532" had|strong="G3588" a|strong="G3004" fever|strong="G4445". The|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" there|strong="G1161" told|strong="G3004" Jesus|strong="G0846" about|strong="G4012" her|strong="G0846".
31 So|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" went|strong="G4334" to|strong="G2532" her|strong="G0846" bed. Jesus|strong="G0846" held|strong="G2902" her|strong="G0846" hand|strong="G5495" and|strong="G2532" helped|strong="G1453" her|strong="G0846" stand|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453". The|strong="G3588" fever|strong="G4446" left|strong="G0863" her|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" she|strong="G0846" was|strong="G3588" healed. Then|strong="G2532" she|strong="G0846" began serving|strong="G1247" them|strong="G0846".
32 That|strong="G3956" night, after|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3956" sun|strong="G2246" went|strong="G1096" down, the|strong="G3956" people|strong="G3956" brought|strong="G5342" to|strong="G4314" Jesus|strong="G0846" many who|strong="G3588" were|strong="G3956" sick|strong="G2560". They|strong="G0846" also|strong="G2532" brought|strong="G5342" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" had|strong="G2192" demons inside them|strong="G0846".
33 Everyone in|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" town|strong="G4172" gathered|strong="G1996" at|strong="G4314" the|strong="G3588" door|strong="G2374" of|strong="G4172" that|strong="G3650" house.
34 Jesus|strong="G0846" healed|strong="G2323" many|strong="G4183" of|strong="G3588" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" had|strong="G2192" different kinds of|strong="G3588" sicknesses. He|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" forced|strong="G1544" many|strong="G4183" demons|strong="G1140" out|strong="G1544" of|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846". But|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" would|strong="G0846" not|strong="G3756" allow|strong="G0863" the|strong="G3588" demons|strong="G1140" to|strong="G2532" speak|strong="G2980", because|strong="G3754" they|strong="G0846" knew|strong="G1492" who|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2532" was|strong="G3588".
35 The|strong="G2532" next morning|strong="G4404" Jesus|strong="G1831" woke up|strong="G0450" very|strong="G3029" early|strong="G4404". He|strong="G2532" left|strong="G1831" the|strong="G2532" house|strong="G2546" while|strong="G1773" it|strong="G2532" was|strong="G2532" still|strong="G3029" dark|strong="G1773" and|strong="G2532" went|strong="G1831" to|strong="G1519" a|strong="G2532" place|strong="G5117" where|strong="G1519" he|strong="G2532" could be|strong="G2532" alone and|strong="G2532" pray|strong="G4336".

38 Jesus|strong="G0846" answered|strong="G3004", “We|strong="G3778" should|strong="G2443" go|strong="G1831" to|strong="G1519" another place|strong="G1563". We|strong="G3778" can|strong="G3004" go|strong="G1831" to|strong="G1519" other|strong="G0846" towns|strong="G2969" around|strong="G0071" here|strong="G1519", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" can|strong="G3004" tell|strong="G3004" God’s|strong="G0846" message to|strong="G1519" those|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" too|strong="G2532". That|strong="G2443" is|strong="G3778" why|strong="G1063" I|strong="G2532" came|strong="G1831".”
39 So|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" traveled everywhere in|strong="G1519" Galilee|strong="G1056". He|strong="G2532" spoke in|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" synagogues|strong="G4864", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" forced|strong="G1544" demons|strong="G1140" out|strong="G1544" of|strong="G1519" people|strong="G0846".
40 A|strong="G1437" man who|strong="G3748" had|strong="G3748" leprosy came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G4314" Jesus|strong="G0846". The|strong="G2532" man bowed on|strong="G0846" his|strong="G0846" knees|strong="G1120" and|strong="G2532" begged|strong="G3870" him|strong="G0846", “You|strong="G1437" have|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" power|strong="G1410" to|strong="G4314" heal me|strong="G3004" if|strong="G1437" you|strong="G1437" want|strong="G2309".”
41 These|strong="G3588" last words|strong="G2532" made|strong="G3004" Jesus|strong="G0846" angry. But|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" touched|strong="G0681" him|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", “I|strong="G2532" want|strong="G2309" to|strong="G3004" heal you|strong="G3004". Be|strong="G2532" healed!”
42 Immediately|strong="G2117" the|strong="G3588" leprosy|strong="G3014" disappeared, and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" man was|strong="G3588" healed.
43 Jesus|strong="G0846" told the|strong="G2532" man to|strong="G2532" go, but|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" gave him|strong="G0846" a|strong="G2532" strong warning:
44 “Don’t|strong="G3367" tell|strong="G3004" anyone|strong="G3367" about|strong="G4012" what|strong="G3739" I|strong="G3739" did|strong="G3708" for|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771". But|strong="G0235" go|strong="G5217" and|strong="G2532" let|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" priest|strong="G2409" look|strong="G3708" at|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771". And|strong="G2532" offer|strong="G4374" a|strong="G3708" gift to|strong="G1519" God|strong="G0846" because|strong="G4012" you|strong="G4771" have|strong="G2532" been|strong="G2532" healed. 45 The|strong="G3588" man left|strong="G1831" there|strong="G1510" and|strong="G2532" told|strong="G4314" everyone he|strong="G2532" saw that|strong="G5620" Jesus|strong="G0846" had|strong="G1510" healed him|strong="G0846". So|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" news|strong="G3056" about|strong="G1909" Jesus|strong="G0846" spread|strong="G1831". And|strong="G2532" that|strong="G5620" is|strong="G1510" why he|strong="G2532" could|strong="G1410" not|strong="G1510" enter|strong="G1525" a|strong="G1510" town|strong="G4172" if|strong="G2532" people|strong="G0846" saw him|strong="G0846". He|strong="G2532" stayed|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1519" places|strong="G5117" where|strong="G1519" people|strong="G0846" did|strong="G1510" not|strong="G1510" live. But|strong="G1161" people|strong="G0846" came|strong="G2064" from|strong="G2064" all|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" towns|strong="G4172" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" places|strong="G5117" where|strong="G1519" he|strong="G2532" was|strong="G1510".
