2 Then|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" teachers of|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" law began to|strong="G3004" complain, “Look, this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G3778" welcomes|strong="G4327" sinners|strong="G0268" and|strong="G2532" even|strong="G2532" eats|strong="G4906" with|strong="G2532" them|strong="G0846"!”
3 Then|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G0846" told|strong="G3004" them|strong="G0846" this|strong="G3778" story:
4 “Suppose|strong="G5101" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G1537" you|strong="G5210" has|strong="G2192" 100 sheep|strong="G4263", but|strong="G2532" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G1537" them|strong="G0846" gets lost|strong="G0622". What|strong="G5101" will|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" do|strong="G2192"? You|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" leave|strong="G2641" the|strong="G3588" other|strong="G0846" 99 sheep|strong="G4263" there|strong="G1722" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" field and|strong="G2532" go|strong="G4198" out|strong="G1537" and|strong="G2532" look for|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3588" lost|strong="G0622" sheep|strong="G4263". You|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" continue|strong="G2532" to|strong="G1909" search for|strong="G1909" it|strong="G0846" until|strong="G2193" you|strong="G5210" find|strong="G2147" it|strong="G0846".
5 And|strong="G2532" when|strong="G2532" you|strong="G2532" find|strong="G2147" it|strong="G0846", you|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" very|strong="G0846" happy. You|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" carry it|strong="G0846"
6 home|strong="G3624", go|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" your|strong="G2532" friends|strong="G5384" and|strong="G2532" neighbors|strong="G1069" and|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" them|strong="G0846", ‘Be|strong="G2532" happy with|strong="G2532" me|strong="G3004" because|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" found|strong="G2147" my|strong="G3754" lost|strong="G0622" sheep|strong="G4263"!’
7 In|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G3779" way|strong="G3779", I|strong="G3754" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", heaven|strong="G3772" is|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2192" happy place|strong="G1722" when|strong="G1722" one|strong="G1520" sinner|strong="G0268" decides to|strong="G3004" change. There|strong="G1510" is|strong="G1510" more|strong="G3756" joy|strong="G5479" for|strong="G3754" that|strong="G3754" one|strong="G1520" sinner|strong="G0268" than|strong="G2228" for|strong="G3754" 99 good|strong="G1510" people|strong="G1510" who|strong="G3588" don’t|strong="G3756" need|strong="G5532" to|strong="G3004" change.
8 “Suppose|strong="G5101" a|strong="G2192" woman|strong="G1135" has|strong="G2192" ten|strong="G1176" silver|strong="G1406" coins|strong="G1406", but|strong="G2532" she|strong="G1437" loses|strong="G0622" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G1520" them|strong="G2147". She|strong="G1437" will|strong="G5101" take|strong="G2192" a|strong="G2192" light|strong="G0681" and|strong="G2532" clean the|strong="G3588" house|strong="G3614". She|strong="G1437" will|strong="G5101" look carefully|strong="G1960" for|strong="G2212" the|strong="G3588" coin|strong="G1406" until|strong="G2193" she|strong="G1437" finds|strong="G2147" it|strong="G1437".
9 And|strong="G2532" when|strong="G2532" she|strong="G3739" finds|strong="G2147" it|strong="G2147", she|strong="G3739" will|strong="G3739" call|strong="G3004" her|strong="G3754" friends|strong="G5384" and|strong="G2532" neighbors|strong="G1069" and|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" them|strong="G2147", ‘Be|strong="G2532" happy with|strong="G2532" me|strong="G3004" because|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2532" found|strong="G2147" the|strong="G3588" coin|strong="G1406" that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" lost|strong="G0622"!’
10 In|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G3779" way|strong="G3779", it’s a|strong="G1096" happy time|strong="G1909" for|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3588" angels|strong="G0032" of|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316" when|strong="G1096" one|strong="G1520" sinner|strong="G0268" decides to|strong="G3004" change.”
11 Then|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G3004" said|strong="G3004", “There|strong="G1161" was|strong="G0444" a|strong="G2192" man|strong="G0444" who|strong="G0444" had|strong="G2192" two|strong="G1417" sons|strong="G5207".
12 The|strong="G3588" younger|strong="G3501" son said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" his|strong="G0846" father|strong="G3962", ‘Give|strong="G1325" me|strong="G1325" now|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" part|strong="G3313" of|strong="G3962" your|strong="G2532" property that|strong="G3004" I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1473" supposed to|strong="G3004" receive someday.’ So|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" father|strong="G3962" divided|strong="G1244" his|strong="G0846" wealth|strong="G0979" between|strong="G0846" his|strong="G0846" two sons.
13 “A|strong="G2532" few days|strong="G2250" later|strong="G3326" the|strong="G3956" younger|strong="G3501" son|strong="G5207" gathered|strong="G4863" up|strong="G1519" all|strong="G3956" that|strong="G3956" he|strong="G2532" had|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" left. He|strong="G2532" traveled far|strong="G3588" away|strong="G3326" to|strong="G1519" another|strong="G2250" country|strong="G5561", and|strong="G2532" there|strong="G1563" he|strong="G2532" wasted his|strong="G0846" money|strong="G0846" living|strong="G2198" like|strong="G0846" a|strong="G2532" fool.
14 After|strong="G2596" he|strong="G2532" spent|strong="G1159" everything|strong="G3956" he|strong="G2532" had|strong="G3588", there|strong="G1161" was|strong="G3588" a|strong="G1096" terrible famine|strong="G3042" throughout|strong="G2596" the|strong="G3956" country|strong="G5561". He|strong="G2532" was|strong="G3588" hungry and|strong="G2532" needed money|strong="G0846".
15 So|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" went|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" got a|strong="G1520" job with|strong="G2532" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G1520" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0846" who|strong="G3588" lived there. The|strong="G3588" man|strong="G1520" sent|strong="G3992" him|strong="G0846" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" fields|strong="G0068" to|strong="G1519" feed|strong="G1006" pigs|strong="G5519".

17 “The|strong="G3588" son realized that|strong="G1161" he|strong="G1161" had|strong="G2064" been very foolish. He|strong="G1161" thought, ‘All|strong="G3588" my father’s|strong="G3962" hired|strong="G3407" workers have|strong="G4052" plenty of|strong="G3962" food|strong="G0740". But|strong="G1161" here|strong="G5602" I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1473", almost dead because|strong="G1161" I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G4052" nothing to|strong="G1519" eat.
18 I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" leave|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" go|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" my|strong="G3004" father|strong="G3962". I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" him|strong="G0846": Father|strong="G3962", I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2532" sinned|strong="G0264" against|strong="G4314" God|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" done wrong to|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771".
19 I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" no|strong="G3765" longer|strong="G3765" worthy|strong="G0514" to|strong="G4160" be|strong="G1510" called|strong="G2564" your|strong="G4160" son|strong="G5207". But|strong="G1473" let|strong="G1510" me|strong="G1473" be|strong="G1510" like|strong="G5613" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G5207" your|strong="G4160" hired|strong="G3407" workers.’
20 So|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" left|strong="G0450" and|strong="G2532" went|strong="G2064" to|strong="G4314" his|strong="G0846" father|strong="G3962".
21 The|strong="G3588" son|strong="G5207" said|strong="G3004", ‘Father|strong="G3962", I|strong="G2532" have|strong="G1510" sinned|strong="G0264" against|strong="G1519" God|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" have|strong="G1510" done wrong to|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771". I|strong="G2532" am|strong="G1510" no|strong="G3765" longer|strong="G3765" worthy|strong="G0514" to|strong="G1519" be|strong="G1510" called|strong="G2564" your|strong="G2532" son|strong="G5207".’
22 “But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" father|strong="G3962" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" his|strong="G0846" servants|strong="G1401", ‘Hurry! Bring|strong="G1627" the|strong="G3588" best|strong="G4413" clothes and|strong="G2532" put|strong="G1325" them|strong="G0846" on|strong="G1519" him|strong="G0846". 24 My|strong="G3754" son|strong="G5207" was|strong="G1510" dead|strong="G3498", but|strong="G2532" now|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" alive|strong="G0326" again|strong="G0326"! He|strong="G2532" was|strong="G1510" lost|strong="G0622", but|strong="G2532" now|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" found|strong="G2147"!’ So|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" began|strong="G0757" to|strong="G0757" have|strong="G1510" a|strong="G1510" party.
25 “The|strong="G3588" older|strong="G4245" son|strong="G5207" had|strong="G1510" been|strong="G1510" out|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" field|strong="G0068". When|strong="G5613" he|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" near|strong="G1448" the|strong="G3588" house|strong="G3614", he|strong="G2532" heard|strong="G0191" the|strong="G3588" sound of|strong="G5207" music|strong="G4858" and|strong="G2532" dancing|strong="G5525".
26 So|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" called|strong="G4341" to|strong="G2532" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G1520" the|strong="G3588" servant|strong="G3816" boys and|strong="G2532" asked|strong="G4441", ‘What|strong="G5101" does|strong="G1510" all|strong="G3588" this|strong="G3778" mean|strong="G1510"?’
27 The|strong="G3588" boy said|strong="G3004", ‘Your|strong="G2532" brother|strong="G0080" has|strong="G3962" come|strong="G2240" back|strong="G0618", and|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" father|strong="G3962" killed|strong="G2380" the|strong="G3588" best calf|strong="G3448" to|strong="G3004" eat. He|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" happy because|strong="G3754" he|strong="G2532" has|strong="G3962" his|strong="G0846" son back|strong="G0618" safe|strong="G5198" and|strong="G2532" sound|strong="G5198".’
28 “The|strong="G3588" older son was|strong="G3588" angry|strong="G3710" and|strong="G2532" would|strong="G0846" not|strong="G3756" go|strong="G1831" in|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2309" the|strong="G3588" party. So|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" father|strong="G3962" went|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" and|strong="G2532" begged|strong="G3870" him|strong="G0846" to|strong="G2309" come|strong="G1831" in|strong="G2532".

30 But|strong="G1161" then|strong="G1161" this|strong="G3778" son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" yours|strong="G4771" comes|strong="G2064" home after|strong="G3326" wasting your|strong="G3588" money|strong="G0846" on|strong="G1161" prostitutes|strong="G4204", and|strong="G1161" you|strong="G4771" kill|strong="G2380" the|strong="G3588" best calf|strong="G3448" for|strong="G2064" him|strong="G0846"!’
31 “His|strong="G0846" father said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G0846", ‘Oh, my|strong="G1699" son|strong="G5043", you|strong="G4771" are|strong="G1510" always|strong="G3842" with|strong="G3326" me|strong="G3004", and|strong="G2532" everything|strong="G3956" I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G1510" is|strong="G1510" yours|strong="G4771".
