3 Jesus|strong="G2424" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G4314" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330" and|strong="G2532" experts in|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" law|strong="G3544", “Is|strong="G3588" it|strong="G1161" right or|strong="G2228" wrong to|strong="G4314" heal|strong="G2323" on|strong="G2228" the|strong="G3588" Sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G4521"?”
4 But|strong="G1161" they|strong="G0846" would|strong="G0846" not|strong="G2532" answer his|strong="G0846" question. So|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" took|strong="G1949" the|strong="G2532" man and|strong="G2532" healed|strong="G2390" him|strong="G0846". Then|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" sent|strong="G0630" the|strong="G2532" man away|strong="G0630".
5 Jesus|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees and|strong="G2532" teachers of|strong="G5207" the|strong="G3588" law, “If|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" son|strong="G5207" or|strong="G2228" work animal falls|strong="G4098" into|strong="G1519" a|strong="G2228" well|strong="G2532" on|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" Sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G2250", you|strong="G5210" know you|strong="G5210" would|strong="G0846" pull|strong="G0385" him|strong="G0846" out|strong="G1438" immediately|strong="G2112".”
6 The|strong="G2532" Pharisees and|strong="G2532" teachers of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" law could|strong="G2480" say nothing|strong="G3756" against|strong="G4314" what|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" said|strong="G2532".
7 Then|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G0846" noticed|strong="G1907" that|strong="G3004" some|strong="G3588" of|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" guests|strong="G2564" were|strong="G3588" choosing the|strong="G3588" best places|strong="G4411" to|strong="G4314" sit. 8 “When|strong="G3752" someone|strong="G5100" invites|strong="G2564" you|strong="G4771" to|strong="G1519" a|strong="G1510" wedding|strong="G1062", don’t|strong="G3361" sit|strong="G2625" in|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" most important seat. They|strong="G0846" may|strong="G5100" have|strong="G1510" invited|strong="G2564" someone|strong="G5100" more|strong="G1784" important than|strong="G3361" you|strong="G4771".
9 And|strong="G2532" if|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" are|strong="G3778" sitting in|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" most important seat, they|strong="G0846" will|strong="G3778" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G3004" you|strong="G4771" and|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘Give|strong="G1325" this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G3778" your|strong="G2532" seat!’ Then|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" will|strong="G3778" have|strong="G2532" to|strong="G3004" move down to|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" last|strong="G2078" place|strong="G5117" and|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" embarrassed.
10 “So|strong="G2443" when|strong="G3752" someone invites|strong="G2564" you|strong="G4771", go|strong="G4198" sit|strong="G0377" in|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3956" seat that|strong="G2443" is|strong="G1510" not|strong="G1510" important. Then|strong="G5119" they|strong="G3752" will|strong="G1510" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771" and|strong="G2064" say|strong="G3004", ‘Friend|strong="G5384", move|strong="G4320" up|strong="G1519" here|strong="G1510" to|strong="G1519" this|strong="G3588" better place|strong="G5117"!’ What|strong="G3588" an|strong="G1510" honor|strong="G1391" this|strong="G3588" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" for|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771" in|strong="G1519" front|strong="G1799" of|strong="G1799" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" other guests|strong="G4873".

12 Then|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" Pharisee who|strong="G3588" had|strong="G3588" invited|strong="G2564" him|strong="G0846", “When|strong="G3752" you|strong="G4771" give|strong="G4160" a|strong="G1096" lunch or|strong="G2228" a|strong="G1096" dinner|strong="G1173", don’t|strong="G3361" invite|strong="G2564" only|strong="G2532" your|strong="G4160" friends|strong="G5384", brothers|strong="G0080", relatives|strong="G4773", and|strong="G2532" rich|strong="G4145" neighbors|strong="G1069". At|strong="G1161" another time they|strong="G0846" will|strong="G2532" pay you|strong="G4771" back by|strong="G2228" inviting you|strong="G4771" to|strong="G3004" eat with|strong="G2532" them|strong="G0846".
13 Instead|strong="G0235", when|strong="G3752" you|strong="G3752" give|strong="G4160" a|strong="G4160" feast, invite|strong="G2564" the|strong="G4160" poor|strong="G4434", the|strong="G4160" crippled, and|strong="G4160" the|strong="G4160" blind|strong="G5185".
14 Then|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" will|strong="G1510" have|strong="G2192" great|strong="G3756" blessings, because|strong="G3754" these|strong="G3748" people|strong="G1510" cannot|strong="G3756" pay you|strong="G4771" back|strong="G0467". They|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" nothing|strong="G3756". But|strong="G1161" God will|strong="G1510" reward you|strong="G4771" at|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" time when|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3588" godly people|strong="G1510" rise|strong="G0386" from|strong="G1722" death.”
15 One|strong="G5100" of|strong="G0932" the|strong="G3588" men|strong="G3778" sitting at|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" table|strong="G4873" with|strong="G1722" Jesus|strong="G0846" heard|strong="G0191" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778". The|strong="G3588" man|strong="G3778" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G0846", “It|strong="G0846" will|strong="G2316" be|strong="G2316" a|strong="G0191" great blessing for|strong="G1722" anyone|strong="G5100" to|strong="G3004" eat|strong="G2068" a|strong="G0191" meal|strong="G0740" in|strong="G1722" God’s|strong="G2316" kingdom|strong="G0932"!”
16 Jesus|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G0846", “A|strong="G4160" man|strong="G0444" gave|strong="G4160" a|strong="G4160" big|strong="G3173" dinner|strong="G1173". He|strong="G2532" invited|strong="G2564" many|strong="G4183" people|strong="G0444".
17 When|strong="G2532" it|strong="G0846" was|strong="G1510" time|strong="G5610" to|strong="G3004" eat, he|strong="G2532" sent|strong="G0649" his|strong="G0846" servant|strong="G1401" to|strong="G3004" tell|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" guests|strong="G2564", ‘Come|strong="G2064". The|strong="G3588" food is|strong="G1510" ready|strong="G2092".’
18 But|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" guests said|strong="G3004" they|strong="G0846" could|strong="G2192" not|strong="G2532" come|strong="G1831". Each one|strong="G1520" made|strong="G3004" an|strong="G2192" excuse|strong="G3868". The|strong="G3956" first|strong="G4413" one|strong="G1520" said|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" just|strong="G2532" bought|strong="G0059" a|strong="G2192" field|strong="G0068", so|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" must|strong="G0318" go|strong="G1831" look|strong="G3708" at|strong="G3588" it|strong="G0846". 19 Another|strong="G2087" man|strong="G2087" said|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" just|strong="G2532" bought|strong="G0059" five|strong="G4002" pairs of|strong="G3004" work animals; I|strong="G1473" must|strong="G0846" go|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" try them|strong="G0846" out. Please|strong="G2065" excuse|strong="G3868" me|strong="G3004".’
20 A|strong="G2064" third man|strong="G3778" said|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G2532" just|strong="G2532" got married|strong="G1060"; I|strong="G2532" can’t|strong="G3756" come|strong="G2064".’
21 “So|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" servant|strong="G1401" returned and|strong="G2532" told|strong="G3004" his|strong="G0846" master|strong="G2962" what|strong="G3588" happened|strong="G3588". The|strong="G3588" master|strong="G2962" was|strong="G3588" angry|strong="G3710". He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", ‘Hurry! Go|strong="G1831" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" streets|strong="G4505" and|strong="G2532" alleys|strong="G4505" of|strong="G2962" the|strong="G3588" town|strong="G4172". 22 “Later, the|strong="G3588" servant|strong="G1401" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G3739", ‘Master|strong="G2962", I|strong="G3739" did|strong="G1510" what|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" told|strong="G3004" me|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" do|strong="G1096", but|strong="G2532" we|strong="G3739" still|strong="G2089" have|strong="G1510" places|strong="G5117" for|strong="G2532" more|strong="G2089" people|strong="G1510".’
23 The|strong="G3588" master|strong="G2962" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" servant|strong="G1401", ‘Go|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" highways|strong="G3598" and|strong="G2532" country roads|strong="G3598". Tell|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G3588" there|strong="G1401" to|strong="G1519" come|strong="G1831". I|strong="G1473" want my|strong="G1525" house|strong="G3624" to|strong="G1519" be|strong="G2532" full!
24 None|strong="G3762" of|strong="G0435" those|strong="G3588" people|strong="G0435" I|strong="G1473" invited|strong="G2564" first will|strong="G3748" get to|strong="G3004" eat|strong="G1089" any|strong="G3762" of|strong="G0435" this|strong="G3588" food.’”
25 Many|strong="G4183" people|strong="G3793" were|strong="G3793" traveling|strong="G4848" with|strong="G4314" Jesus|strong="G0846". He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846",
26 “If|strong="G1487" you|strong="G1487" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G4314" me|strong="G1473" but|strong="G1161" will|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" leave your|strong="G1487" family, you|strong="G1487" cannot|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" my|strong="G2532" follower. You|strong="G1487" must|strong="G1135" love me|strong="G1473" more|strong="G2089" than|strong="G2532" your|strong="G1487" father|strong="G3962", mother|strong="G3384", wife|strong="G1135", children|strong="G5043", brothers|strong="G0080", and|strong="G2532" sisters|strong="G0079"—even|strong="G2532" more|strong="G2089" than|strong="G2532" your|strong="G1487" own|strong="G1438" life|strong="G5590"!
27 Whoever|strong="G3748" will|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" carry|strong="G0941" the|strong="G3588" cross|strong="G4716" that|strong="G3748" is|strong="G1510" given to|strong="G2064" them|strong="G1438" when|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" follow|strong="G3694" me|strong="G1473" cannot|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" my|strong="G2532" follower|strong="G3694".
28 “If|strong="G1487" you|strong="G5210" wanted|strong="G2309" to|strong="G1519" build|strong="G3618" a|strong="G2192" building|strong="G3618", you|strong="G5210" would|strong="G2309" first|strong="G4413" sit|strong="G2523" down|strong="G2523" and|strong="G4413" decide how|strong="G5101" much it|strong="G3618" would|strong="G2309" cost. You|strong="G5210" must|strong="G3588" see if|strong="G1487" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G2192" enough money to|strong="G1519" finish the|strong="G3588" job.
29 If|strong="G2443" you|strong="G3956" don’t|strong="G3361" do|strong="G3361" that|strong="G2443", you|strong="G3956" might|strong="G2532" begin|strong="G0757" the|strong="G3956" work, but|strong="G2532" you|strong="G3956" would|strong="G0846" not|strong="G3361" be|strong="G2532" able|strong="G2480" to|strong="G2443" finish|strong="G1615". And|strong="G2532" if|strong="G2443" you|strong="G3956" could|strong="G2480" not|strong="G3361" finish|strong="G1615" it|strong="G0846", everyone|strong="G3956" would|strong="G0846" laugh at|strong="G3588" you|strong="G3956".
30 They|strong="G2532" would|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘This|strong="G3778" man|strong="G0444" began|strong="G0757" to|strong="G3004" build|strong="G3618", but|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" was|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3756" able|strong="G2480" to|strong="G3004" finish|strong="G1615".’
31 “If|strong="G1487" a|strong="G1510" king|strong="G0935" is|strong="G1510" going|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" fight against|strong="G1909" another|strong="G2087" king|strong="G0935", first|strong="G4413" he|strong="G0846" will|strong="G1510" sit|strong="G2523" down|strong="G2523" and|strong="G2064" plan. If|strong="G1487" he|strong="G0846" has|strong="G5101" only|strong="G1487" 10,000 men|strong="G4413", he|strong="G0846" will|strong="G1510" try to|strong="G1519" decide if|strong="G1487" he|strong="G0846" is|strong="G1510" able|strong="G1415" to|strong="G1519" defeat the|strong="G3588" other|strong="G2087" king|strong="G0935" who|strong="G3588" has|strong="G5101" 20,000 men|strong="G4413".
32 If|strong="G1487" he|strong="G0846" thinks he|strong="G0846" cannot|strong="G3361" defeat the|strong="G3588" other|strong="G1161" king, he|strong="G0846" will|strong="G1510" send|strong="G0649" some|strong="G3588" men|strong="G0846" to|strong="G4314" ask|strong="G2065" for|strong="G4314" peace|strong="G1515" while|strong="G1510" that|strong="G0846" king’s army is|strong="G1510" still|strong="G2089" far|strong="G4206" away|strong="G0649".
33 “It|strong="G3779" is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3956" same|strong="G3779" for|strong="G1537" each|strong="G1438" of|strong="G1537" you|strong="G5210". You|strong="G5210" must|strong="G1510" leave|strong="G0657" everything|strong="G3956" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G1510" to|strong="G1410" follow me|strong="G1473". If not|strong="G3756", you|strong="G5210" cannot|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" my|strong="G3956" follower.
34 “Salt|strong="G0217" is|strong="G5101" a|strong="G1437" good|strong="G2570" thing|strong="G2570". But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1437" the|strong="G3588" salt|strong="G0217" loses|strong="G3471" its salty|strong="G0741" taste, you|strong="G1437" can’t make|strong="G0741" it|strong="G1437" salty|strong="G0741" again|strong="G2532".
35 It|strong="G0846" is|strong="G1510" worth nothing|strong="G3777". You|strong="G1510" can’t even|strong="G1519" use|strong="G2192" it|strong="G0846" as|strong="G1519" dirt or|strong="G3777" dung. People|strong="G0846" just|strong="G0846" throw|strong="G0906" it|strong="G0846" away|strong="G1854".
