Treat the|strong="G5613" younger|strong="G3501" men|strong="G4245" like|strong="G5613" brothers|strong="G0080".
2 Treat the|strong="G3956" older|strong="G4245" women|strong="G4245" like|strong="G5613" mothers|strong="G3384". And|strong="G3384" treat the|strong="G3956" younger|strong="G3501" women|strong="G4245" with|strong="G1722" respect|strong="G3956" like|strong="G5613" sisters|strong="G0079".
3 Take care of|strong="G3588" widows|strong="G5503" who|strong="G3588" really|strong="G3689" need help.
4 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" a|strong="G2192" widow|strong="G5503" has|strong="G2192" children|strong="G5043" or|strong="G2228" grandchildren|strong="G1549", the|strong="G3588" first|strong="G4412" thing|strong="G3778" they|strong="G2532" need|strong="G2192" to|strong="G2532" learn|strong="G3129" is|strong="G1510" this|strong="G3778": to|strong="G2532" show|strong="G2192" their|strong="G2532" devotion to|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" by|strong="G2228" taking care of|strong="G2316" their|strong="G2532" own|strong="G2398" family|strong="G3624". They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" be|strong="G1510" repaying their|strong="G2532" parents|strong="G4269", and|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" pleases God|strong="G2316".
5 A|strong="G2532" widow|strong="G5503" who|strong="G3588" really|strong="G3689" needs help is|strong="G2316" one|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" has|strong="G2316" been|strong="G2532" left|strong="G3443" all|strong="G3588" alone|strong="G3443". She trusts God|strong="G2316" to|strong="G1909" take care of|strong="G2250" her|strong="G1679". She prays all|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" time|strong="G2250", night|strong="G3571" and|strong="G2532" day|strong="G2250", and|strong="G2532" asks God|strong="G2316" for|strong="G1909" help.
6 But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" widow who|strong="G3588" uses her life|strong="G2198" to|strong="G2198" please herself|strong="G4684" is|strong="G3588" really dead|strong="G2348" while|strong="G1161" she is|strong="G3588" still living|strong="G2198".
7 Tell the|strong="G2532" believers there|strong="G1510" to|strong="G2443" take care of|strong="G2532" their|strong="G2532" family so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" no one|strong="G3778" can say they|strong="G2532" are|strong="G1510" doing wrong.
8 Everyone should|strong="G5100" take care of|strong="G5100" all|strong="G3588" their|strong="G2532" own|strong="G2398" people|strong="G1510". Most important, they|strong="G2532" should|strong="G5100" take care of|strong="G5100" their|strong="G2532" own|strong="G2398" family. If|strong="G1487" they|strong="G2532" do|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" do|strong="G1510" that|strong="G1161", then|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" do|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" accept what|strong="G3588" we|strong="G1487" believe. They|strong="G2532" are|strong="G1510" worse|strong="G5501" than|strong="G2532" someone|strong="G5100" who|strong="G3588" does|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" even|strong="G2532" believe in|strong="G2532" God.
9 To|strong="G1096" be|strong="G1096" added to|strong="G1096" your|strong="G1096" list|strong="G2639" of|strong="G0435" widows|strong="G5503", a|strong="G1096" woman|strong="G1135" must|strong="G1135" be|strong="G1096" 60 years|strong="G2094" old or|strong="G3361" older. She|strong="G1135" must|strong="G1135" have|strong="G1096" been|strong="G1096" faithful to|strong="G1096" her|strong="G0435" husband|strong="G0435".
10 She|strong="G1487" must be|strong="G3956" known for|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3956" good|strong="G0018" she|strong="G1487" has|strong="G2041" done|strong="G2041": raising children|strong="G5044", welcoming travelers into|strong="G1722" her|strong="G3956" home, serving the|strong="G3956" needs of|strong="G2041" God’s people|strong="G3956", helping those|strong="G1722" in|strong="G1722" trouble, and|strong="G0040" using her|strong="G3956" life to|strong="G1722" do|strong="G2041" all|strong="G3956" kinds|strong="G3956" of|strong="G2041" good|strong="G0018".
11 But|strong="G1161" don’t put younger|strong="G3501" widows|strong="G5503" on|strong="G1161" that|strong="G1161" list. When|strong="G3752" their|strong="G3752" strong physical needs pull them away from|strong="G3588" their|strong="G3752" commitment to|strong="G2309" Christ|strong="G5547", they|strong="G3752" will|strong="G2309" want|strong="G2309" to|strong="G2309" marry|strong="G1060" again.
12 Then|strong="G3754" they|strong="G3754" will|strong="G3748" be|strong="G4413" guilty of|strong="G3588" not doing what|strong="G3588" they|strong="G3754" first|strong="G4413" promised to|strong="G4413" do|strong="G2192".
13 Also|strong="G2532", these|strong="G3588" younger widows begin to|strong="G2532" waste their|strong="G2532" time|strong="G0260" going from|strong="G2980" house|strong="G3614" to|strong="G2532" house|strong="G3614". They|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" begin to|strong="G2532" gossip and|strong="G2532" try to|strong="G2532" run other|strong="G1161" people’s lives. They|strong="G2532" say|strong="G2980" things|strong="G2980" they|strong="G2532" should|strong="G1163" not|strong="G3756" say|strong="G2980".
14 So|strong="G3767" I|strong="G3767" want|strong="G1014" the|strong="G3588" younger|strong="G3501" widows to|strong="G1014" marry|strong="G1060", have|strong="G3588" children|strong="G5041", and|strong="G1060" take care of|strong="G3588" their|strong="G1325" homes. If they|strong="G3767" do|strong="G1325" this|strong="G3588", our enemy|strong="G0480" will|strong="G1325" not|strong="G3367" have|strong="G3588" any|strong="G3367" reason|strong="G5484" to|strong="G1014" criticize them|strong="G1325".
15 But|strong="G1063" some|strong="G5100" of|strong="G5100" the|strong="G3588" younger widows have|strong="G5100" already|strong="G2235" turned|strong="G1624" away to|strong="G5100" follow|strong="G3694" Satan|strong="G4567".
16 If|strong="G1487" any|strong="G5100" woman|strong="G5100" who|strong="G3588" is|strong="G5100" a|strong="G2192" believer|strong="G4103" has|strong="G2192" widows|strong="G5503" in|strong="G2532" her|strong="G0846" family, she|strong="G0846" should|strong="G5100" take|strong="G2192" care of|strong="G1577" them|strong="G0846" herself|strong="G0846". Then|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" church|strong="G1577" will|strong="G5100" not|strong="G3361" have|strong="G2192" that|strong="G2443" burden and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G5100" be|strong="G2532" able|strong="G2192" to|strong="G2443" care for|strong="G2443" the|strong="G3588" widows|strong="G5503" who|strong="G3588" have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3361" one|strong="G5100" else|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2443" help them|strong="G0846".
17 The|strong="G3588" elders|strong="G4245" who|strong="G3588" lead the|strong="G3588" church in|strong="G1722" a|strong="G2532" good|strong="G2573" way|strong="G1722" should|strong="G2532" receive double|strong="G1362" honor|strong="G5092"—in|strong="G1722" particular, those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" do|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" work|strong="G2872" of|strong="G3056" counseling and|strong="G2532" teaching|strong="G1319".
18 As|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Scriptures|strong="G1124" say|strong="G3004", “When|strong="G2532" a|strong="G3004" work animal is|strong="G3588" being used to|strong="G3004" separate grain, don’t|strong="G3756" keep it|strong="G0846" from|strong="G2532" eating the|strong="G3588" grain.” And|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Scriptures|strong="G1124" also|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", “A|strong="G3004" worker|strong="G2040" should|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" given his|strong="G0846" pay|strong="G3408".”
19 Don’t|strong="G3361" listen to|strong="G1909" someone who|strong="G1417" accuses an|strong="G2228" elder|strong="G4245". You|strong="G1487" should listen to|strong="G1909" them|strong="G2596" only|strong="G1487" if|strong="G1487" there|strong="G2596" are|strong="G5140" two|strong="G1417" or|strong="G2228" three|strong="G5140" others who|strong="G1417" can say what|strong="G1487" the|strong="G1487" elder|strong="G4245" did|strong="G2228" wrong.
20 Tell those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" sin|strong="G0264" that|strong="G2443" they|strong="G2532" are|strong="G3956" wrong|strong="G1651". Do|strong="G2192" this|strong="G3588" in|strong="G2532" front|strong="G1799" of|strong="G1799" the|strong="G3956" whole|strong="G3956" church so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" the|strong="G3956" others|strong="G3062" will|strong="G3956" have|strong="G2192" a|strong="G2192" warning.
21 Before|strong="G1799" God|strong="G2316" and|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" chosen|strong="G1588" angels|strong="G0032", I|strong="G2532" tell you|strong="G4160" to|strong="G2443" make|strong="G4160" these|strong="G3778" judgments without|strong="G5565" any|strong="G3367" prejudice|strong="G4299". Treat|strong="G4160" every|strong="G2596" person|strong="G3778" the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G3778".
22 Think carefully before you|strong="G4572" lay|strong="G2007" your|strong="G2007" hands|strong="G5495" on|strong="G5495" anyone|strong="G3367" to|strong="G3366" make him|strong="G5083" an elder. 23 Timothy, stop drinking|strong="G3631" only|strong="G2532" water|strong="G5202", and|strong="G2532" drink|strong="G5202" a|strong="G2532" little|strong="G3641" wine|strong="G3631". This|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2532" help your|strong="G2532" stomach|strong="G4751", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3371" be|strong="G2532" sick|strong="G0769" so|strong="G2532" often|strong="G4437".
24 The|strong="G3588" sins|strong="G0266" of|strong="G5100" some|strong="G5100" people|strong="G0444" are|strong="G1510" easy to|strong="G1519" see. Their|strong="G2532" sins|strong="G0266" show that|strong="G1161" they|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" judged. But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" sins|strong="G0266" of|strong="G5100" some|strong="G5100" others|strong="G0444" are|strong="G1510" seen only|strong="G2532" later.
25 It|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G5615" with|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" good|strong="G2570" things|strong="G3588" people|strong="G3588" do|strong="G2192". Some|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" easy to|strong="G1410" see. But|strong="G2532" even|strong="G2532" if|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" are|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3756" obvious|strong="G4271" now|strong="G2532", none|strong="G3756" of|strong="G2041" them will|strong="G2532" stay hidden|strong="G2928" forever.
