1 Dear brothers|strong="G0080" and|strong="G2064" sisters, when|strong="G2064" I|strong="G2504" came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5210", I|strong="G2504" told|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5210" the|strong="G3588" secret truth of|strong="G3056" God|strong="G2316". But|strong="G2316" I|strong="G2504" did|strong="G2064" not|strong="G3756" use fancy words|strong="G3056" or|strong="G2228" great|strong="G3756" wisdom|strong="G4678".
2 I|strong="G2532" decided|strong="G2919" that|strong="G3778" while|strong="G1722" I|strong="G2532" was|strong="G2424" with|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5210" I|strong="G2532" would|strong="G5547" forget about|strong="G1722" everything except|strong="G1487" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547" and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G2532" death on|strong="G1722" the|strong="G2532" cross.
3 When|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" came|strong="G1096" to|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5210", I|strong="G2532" was|strong="G1096" weak|strong="G0769" and|strong="G2532" shook with|strong="G1722" fear|strong="G5401".
4 My|strong="G1722" teaching|strong="G3056" and|strong="G2532" my|strong="G1722" speaking|strong="G3056" were|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3756" with|strong="G1722" wise words|strong="G3056" that|strong="G4151" persuade people|strong="G3588". But|strong="G0235" the|strong="G3588" proof of|strong="G3056" my|strong="G1722" teaching|strong="G3056" was|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" power|strong="G1411" that|strong="G4151" the|strong="G3588" Spirit|strong="G4151" gives.
5 I|strong="G1722" did|strong="G1510" this|strong="G3588" so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" your|strong="G4102" faith|strong="G4102" would|strong="G1722" be|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" God’s|strong="G2316" power|strong="G1411", not|strong="G3361" in|strong="G1722" human|strong="G0444" wisdom|strong="G4678".
6 We|strong="G3778" teach wisdom|strong="G4678" to|strong="G1722" people|strong="G3778" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3778" mature|strong="G5046", but|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" wisdom|strong="G4678" we|strong="G3778" teach is|strong="G3778" not|strong="G3756" from|strong="G2980" this|strong="G3778" world|strong="G0165". It|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3778" not|strong="G3756" the|strong="G3588" wisdom|strong="G4678" of|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" rulers|strong="G0758" of|strong="G1722" this|strong="G3778" world|strong="G0165", who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3778" losing their|strong="G1722" power.
7 But|strong="G0235" we|strong="G2249" speak|strong="G2980" God’s|strong="G2316" secret wisdom|strong="G4678" that|strong="G3739" has|strong="G2316" been hidden|strong="G0613" from|strong="G2980" everyone|strong="G3739" until|strong="G1519" now|strong="G1722". God|strong="G2316" planned this|strong="G3588" wisdom|strong="G4678" for|strong="G1519" our|strong="G2316" glory|strong="G1391". He|strong="G3739" planned it|strong="G3739" before|strong="G4253" the|strong="G3588" world|strong="G0165" began.
8 None|strong="G3762" of|strong="G1391" the|strong="G3588" rulers|strong="G0758" of|strong="G1391" this|strong="G3778" world|strong="G0165" understood|strong="G1097" this|strong="G3778" wisdom. If|strong="G1487" they|strong="G3739" had|strong="G3739" understood|strong="G1097" it|strong="G3778", they|strong="G3739" would|strong="G0302" not|strong="G3756" have|strong="G3588" killed our|strong="G2962" great|strong="G3756" and|strong="G0165" glorious|strong="G1391" Lord|strong="G2962" on|strong="G2962" a|strong="G3739" cross.
9 But|strong="G0235" as|strong="G2531" the|strong="G3588" Scriptures say,
10 But|strong="G1161" God|strong="G2316" has|strong="G2316" shown us these|strong="G3588" things|strong="G3956" through|strong="G1223" the|strong="G3956" Spirit|strong="G4151".
11 It|strong="G0846" is|strong="G2316" like|strong="G3779" this|strong="G3779": No|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" knows|strong="G1097" the|strong="G3588" thoughts that|strong="G1097" another person|strong="G0444" has|strong="G2316". Only|strong="G1487" the|strong="G3588" person’s spirit|strong="G4151" that|strong="G1097" lives inside|strong="G1722" knows|strong="G1097" those|strong="G3588" thoughts. It|strong="G0846" is|strong="G2316" the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G0846" with|strong="G1722" God|strong="G2316". No|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" knows|strong="G1097" God’s|strong="G2316" thoughts except|strong="G1487" God’s|strong="G2316" Spirit|strong="G4151".
12 We|strong="G2249" received|strong="G2983" the|strong="G3588" Spirit|strong="G4151" that|strong="G2443" is|strong="G2316" from|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316", not|strong="G3756" the|strong="G3588" spirit|strong="G4151" of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G3588" world|strong="G2889". We|strong="G2249" received|strong="G2983" God’s|strong="G2316" Spirit|strong="G4151" so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" we|strong="G2249" can know|strong="G1492" all|strong="G3588" that|strong="G2443" God|strong="G2316" has|strong="G2316" given|strong="G5483" us|strong="G5483".
13 When|strong="G2532" we|strong="G3739" say|strong="G2980" this|strong="G3739", we|strong="G3739" don’t|strong="G3756" use words|strong="G3056" taught|strong="G1318" to|strong="G2532" us|strong="G1722" by|strong="G1722" human|strong="G0442" wisdom|strong="G4678". We|strong="G3739" use words|strong="G3056" taught|strong="G1318" to|strong="G2532" us|strong="G1722" by|strong="G1722" the|strong="G2532" Spirit|strong="G4151". We|strong="G3739" use the|strong="G2532" Spirit’s words|strong="G3056" to|strong="G2532" explain spiritual|strong="G4152" truths.
14 People|strong="G0444" who|strong="G3588" do|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" have|strong="G1510" God’s|strong="G2316" Spirit|strong="G4151" do|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" accept|strong="G1209" the|strong="G3588" things|strong="G0846" that|strong="G3754" come|strong="G1510" from|strong="G0444" his|strong="G0846" Spirit|strong="G4151". They|strong="G0846" think these|strong="G3748" things|strong="G0846" are|strong="G1510" foolish. They|strong="G0846" cannot|strong="G3756" understand|strong="G1097" them|strong="G0846", because|strong="G3754" they|strong="G0846" can|strong="G1410" only|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" understood|strong="G1097" with|strong="G2316" the|strong="G3588" Spirit’s help.
15 We|strong="G1161" who|strong="G3588" have|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" Spirit are|strong="G3956" able to|strong="G0846" make judgments about|strong="G3588" all|strong="G3956" these|strong="G3588" things|strong="G3956". But|strong="G1161" anyone|strong="G3762" without the|strong="G3956" Spirit is|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3762" able to|strong="G0846" make proper judgments about|strong="G3588" us.
