7 Don’t worship idols as|strong="G2531" some|strong="G5100" of|strong="G5100" them|strong="G0846" did|strong="G1096". As|strong="G2531" the|strong="G3588" Scriptures say, “The|strong="G3588" people|strong="G2992" sat|strong="G2523" down|strong="G2523" to|strong="G2532" eat|strong="G2068" and|strong="G2532" drink|strong="G4095" and|strong="G2532" then|strong="G2532" got|strong="G0450" up|strong="G0450" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" a|strong="G1096" wild party.”
8 We|strong="G2532" should|strong="G5100" not|strong="G3366" commit|strong="G4203" sexual sins as|strong="G2531" some|strong="G5100" of|strong="G2250" them|strong="G0846" did|strong="G4203". In|strong="G2532" one|strong="G1520" day|strong="G2250" 23,000 of|strong="G2250" them|strong="G0846" died|strong="G4098" because|strong="G2531" of|strong="G2250" their|strong="G0846" sin.
9 We|strong="G2532" should|strong="G5100" not|strong="G3366" test|strong="G3985" Christ|strong="G5547" as|strong="G2531" some|strong="G5100" of|strong="G2962" them|strong="G0846" did|strong="G3985". 15 You|strong="G5210" are|strong="G3739" intelligent people|strong="G2919". Judge|strong="G2919" for|strong="G3004" yourselves|strong="G4771" the|strong="G3739" truth of|strong="G3004" what|strong="G3739" I|strong="G3739" say|strong="G3004" now|strong="G5613".
16 The|strong="G3588" cup|strong="G4221" of|strong="G0129" blessing|strong="G2129" that|strong="G3739" we|strong="G3739" give thanks for|strong="G5547" is|strong="G1510" a|strong="G1510" sharing|strong="G2842" in|strong="G5547" the|strong="G3588" blood|strong="G0129" sacrifice of|strong="G0129" Christ|strong="G5547", isn’t|strong="G3780" it|strong="G3739"? 18 And|strong="G2068" think about|strong="G2596" what|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" people|strong="G2068" of|strong="G2596" Israel|strong="G2474" do|strong="G1510". When|strong="G0991" they|strong="G1510" eat|strong="G2068" the|strong="G3588" sacrifices|strong="G2378", they|strong="G1510" are|strong="G1510" united by|strong="G2596" sharing what|strong="G3588" was|strong="G1510" offered on|strong="G2596" the|strong="G3588" altar|strong="G2379".
19 So|strong="G3767", am|strong="G1510" I|strong="G3754" saying|strong="G3754" that|strong="G3754" sacrifices to|strong="G5100" idols|strong="G1497" are|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3767" same as|strong="G3754" those Jewish sacrifices? No, because|strong="G3754" an|strong="G1510" idol|strong="G1497" is|strong="G1510" nothing, and|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3767" things|strong="G1494" offered to|strong="G5100" idols|strong="G1497" are|strong="G1510" worth nothing.
20 But|strong="G1161" I|strong="G3739" am|strong="G2309" saying|strong="G3754" that|strong="G3754" when|strong="G2532" food is|strong="G2316" sacrificed|strong="G2380" to|strong="G2309" idols, it|strong="G1161" is|strong="G2316" an|strong="G1096" offering|strong="G2380" to|strong="G2309" demons|strong="G1140", not|strong="G3756" to|strong="G2309" God|strong="G2316". And|strong="G2532" I|strong="G3739" don’t|strong="G3756" want|strong="G2309" you|strong="G5210" to|strong="G2309" share|strong="G2844" anything|strong="G0235" with|strong="G2316" demons|strong="G1140".
21 You|strong="G2532" cannot|strong="G3756" drink|strong="G4095" the|strong="G2532" cup|strong="G4221" of|strong="G2962" the|strong="G2532" Lord|strong="G2962" and|strong="G2532" then|strong="G2532" go drink|strong="G4095" a|strong="G2532" cup|strong="G4221" that|strong="G2962" honors demons|strong="G1140". You|strong="G2532" cannot|strong="G3756" share|strong="G3348" a|strong="G2532" meal at the|strong="G2532" Lord’s|strong="G2962" table|strong="G5132" and|strong="G2532" then|strong="G2532" go share|strong="G3348" a|strong="G2532" meal that|strong="G2962" honors demons|strong="G1140".
22 Doing that|strong="G0846" would|strong="G2962" make|strong="G3863" the|strong="G3588" Lord|strong="G2962" jealous|strong="G3863". Do|strong="G1510" you|strong="G1510" really want to|strong="G2228" do|strong="G1510" that|strong="G0846"? Do|strong="G1510" you|strong="G1510" think we|strong="G1510" are|strong="G1510" stronger|strong="G2478" than|strong="G2228" he|strong="G0846" is|strong="G1510"?
23 “All|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" are|strong="G3956" allowed,” you|strong="G3956" say. But|strong="G0235" not|strong="G3756" all|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" are|strong="G3956" good. “All|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" are|strong="G3956" allowed.” But|strong="G0235" some things|strong="G3956" don’t|strong="G3756" help anyone|strong="G3956".
24 Try to|strong="G2212" do|strong="G2212" what|strong="G3588" is|strong="G3588" good for|strong="G2212" others|strong="G2087", not|strong="G3367" just what|strong="G3588" is|strong="G3588" good for|strong="G2212" yourselves|strong="G1438".
25 Eat|strong="G2068" any|strong="G3956" meat|strong="G3588" that|strong="G3956" is|strong="G3588" sold|strong="G4453" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3956" meat|strong="G3588" market|strong="G3111". Don’t|strong="G3367" ask questions|strong="G0350" about|strong="G1722" it|strong="G1223" to|strong="G1722" see if it|strong="G1223" is|strong="G3588" something you|strong="G1722" think is|strong="G3588" wrong to|strong="G1722" eat|strong="G2068".
26 You|strong="G2532" can eat it|strong="G0846", “because|strong="G1063" the|strong="G3588" earth|strong="G1093" and|strong="G2532" everything in|strong="G2532" it|strong="G0846" belong to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Lord|strong="G2962".”
27 Someone|strong="G5100" who|strong="G3588" is|strong="G5100" not|strong="G3367" a|strong="G1487" believer might|strong="G2532" invite|strong="G2564" you|strong="G5210" to|strong="G2309" eat|strong="G2068" with|strong="G1223" them|strong="G1223". If|strong="G1487" you|strong="G5210" want|strong="G2309" to|strong="G2309" go|strong="G4198", then|strong="G2532" eat|strong="G2068" anything|strong="G5100" that|strong="G3956" is|strong="G5100" put before|strong="G3908" you|strong="G5210". 28 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1437" someone|strong="G5100" tells you|strong="G5210", “That|strong="G1565" food was|strong="G1510" offered to|strong="G3004" idols|strong="G1494",” then|strong="G2532" don’t|strong="G3361" eat|strong="G2068" it|strong="G1437". That’s because|strong="G1223" some|strong="G5100" people|strong="G2068" think it|strong="G1437" is|strong="G1510" wrong, and|strong="G2532" it|strong="G1437" might|strong="G2532" cause a|strong="G1510" problem for|strong="G1223" the|strong="G3588" person|strong="G5100" who|strong="G3588" told|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" that|strong="G1565".
29 I|strong="G1473" don’t mean|strong="G3004" that|strong="G3004" you|strong="G3004" think|strong="G2919" it|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3588" wrong. But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" other|strong="G0243" person|strong="G2087" might|strong="G1473" think|strong="G2919" it|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3588" wrong. That’s the|strong="G3588" only|strong="G1438" reason not|strong="G3780" to|strong="G3004" eat it|strong="G1161". My|strong="G5259" own|strong="G1438" freedom|strong="G1657" should not|strong="G3780" be judged|strong="G2919" by|strong="G5259" what|strong="G3588" another|strong="G0243" person|strong="G2087" thinks.
30 I|strong="G1473" eat the|strong="G3739" meal with|strong="G5485" thankfulness|strong="G5485". So|strong="G3739" I|strong="G1473" don’t want to|strong="G5101" be criticized because of|strong="G5485" something|strong="G5101" I|strong="G1473" thank|strong="G2168" God for|strong="G5228".
31 So|strong="G3767" if|strong="G1535" you|strong="G4160" eat|strong="G2068", or|strong="G1535" if|strong="G1535" you|strong="G4160" drink|strong="G4095", or|strong="G1535" if|strong="G1535" you|strong="G4160" do|strong="G4160" anything|strong="G5100", do|strong="G4160" it|strong="G4160" for|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3956" glory|strong="G1391" of|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316".
32 Never do|strong="G1096" anything that|strong="G1096" might|strong="G2532" make other people|strong="G3588" do|strong="G1096" wrong—Jews|strong="G2453", non-Jews, or|strong="G2532" anyone in|strong="G2316" God’s|strong="G2316" church|strong="G1577".
33 I|strong="G2504" do|strong="G3361" the|strong="G3956" same thing|strong="G2504". I|strong="G2504" try to|strong="G2443" please|strong="G0700" everyone|strong="G3956" in|strong="G3956" every|strong="G3956" way|strong="G3956".
