Números 14

ENG-KJV2006

And all the congregation|strong="H5712" lifted up|strong="H5375" their voice|strong="H6963", and cried|strong="H5414"; and the people|strong="H5971" wept|strong="H1058" that night|strong="H3915".

And all the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" murmured|strong="H3885" against Moses|strong="H4872" and against Aaron|strong="H0175": and the whole congregation|strong="H5712" said|strong="H0559" unto them, Would God|strong="H3863" that we had died|strong="H4191" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714"! or would God|strong="H3863" we had died|strong="H4191" in this wilderness|strong="H4057"!

And wherefore hath the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* brought|strong="H0935" us unto this land|strong="H0776", to fall|strong="H5307" by the sword|strong="H2719", that our wives|strong="H0802" and our children|strong="H2945" should be a prey|strong="H0957"? were it not better|strong="H2896" for us to return|strong="H7725" into Egypt|strong="H4714"?

And they said|strong="H0559" one|strong="H0376" to another|strong="H0251", Let us make|strong="H5414" a captain|strong="H7218", and let us return|strong="H7725" into Egypt|strong="H4714".

Then Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175" fell|strong="H5307" on their faces|strong="H6440" before|strong="H6440" all the assembly|strong="H6951" of the congregation|strong="H5712" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Nun|strong="H5126", and Caleb|strong="H3612" the son|strong="H1121" of Jephunneh|strong="H3312", which were of them that searched|strong="H8446" the land|strong="H0776", rent|strong="H7167" their clothes|strong="H0899":

And they spake|strong="H0559" unto all the company|strong="H5712" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", saying|strong="H0559", The land|strong="H0776", which we passed|strong="H5674" through to search|strong="H8446" it, is an exceeding|strong="H3966" good|strong="H2896" land|strong="H0776".

If the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* delight|strong="H2654" in us, then he will bring|strong="H0935" us into this land|strong="H0776", and give|strong="H5414" it us; a land|strong="H0776" which floweth|strong="H2100" with milk|strong="H2461" and honey|strong="H1706".

Only rebel|strong="H4775" not ye against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, neither fear|strong="H3372" ye the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776"; for they are bread|strong="H3899" for us: their defence|strong="H6738" is departed|strong="H5493" from them, and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is with us: fear|strong="H3372" them not.

But all the congregation|strong="H5712" bade|strong="H0559" stone|strong="H7275" them with stones|strong="H0068". And the glory|strong="H3519" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* appeared|strong="H7200" in the tabernacle|strong="H0168" of the congregation|strong="H4150" before all the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872", How long will this people|strong="H5971" provoke|strong="H5006" me? and how long will it be ere|strong="H3808" they believe|strong="H0539" me, for all the signs|strong="H0226" which I have shewed|strong="H6213" among|strong="H7130" them?

I will smite|strong="H5221" them with the pestilence|strong="H1698", and disinherit|strong="H3423" them, and will make|strong="H6213" of thee a greater|strong="H1419" nation|strong="H1471" and mightier|strong="H6099" than they.

And Moses|strong="H4872" said|strong="H0559" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Then the Egyptians|strong="H4714" shall hear|strong="H8085" it, (for thou broughtest up|strong="H5927" this people|strong="H5971" in thy might|strong="H3581" from among|strong="H7130" them;)

And they will tell|strong="H0559" it to the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of this land|strong="H0776": for they have heard|strong="H8085" that thou \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* art among|strong="H7130" this people|strong="H5971", that thou \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* art seen|strong="H7200" face|strong="H5869" to face|strong="H5869", and that thy cloud|strong="H6051" standeth|strong="H5975" over them, and that thou goest|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" them, by day time|strong="H3119" in a pillar|strong="H5982" of a cloud|strong="H6051", and in a pillar|strong="H5982" of fire|strong="H0784" by night|strong="H3915".

Now if thou shalt kill|strong="H4191" all this people|strong="H5971" as one|strong="H0259" man|strong="H0376", then the nations|strong="H1471" which have heard|strong="H8085" the fame|strong="H8088" of thee will speak|strong="H0559", saying|strong="H0559",

Because the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was not|strong="H1115" able|strong="H3201" to bring|strong="H0935" this people|strong="H5971" into the land|strong="H0776" which he sware|strong="H7650" unto them, therefore he hath slain|strong="H7819" them in the wilderness|strong="H4057".

And now, I beseech thee, let the power|strong="H3581" of my Lord|strong="H0136" be great|strong="H1431", according|strong="H0834" as thou hast spoken|strong="H1696", saying|strong="H0559",

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is longsuffering|strong="H0750", and of great|strong="H7227" mercy|strong="H2617", forgiving|strong="H5375" iniquity|strong="H5771" and transgression|strong="H6588", and by no means|strong="H5352" clearing|strong="H5352" the guilty, visiting|strong="H6485" the iniquity|strong="H5771" of the fathers|strong="H0001" upon the children|strong="H1121" unto the third|strong="H8029" and fourth|strong="H7256" generation.

Pardon|strong="H5545", I beseech thee, the iniquity|strong="H5771" of this people|strong="H5971" according unto the greatness|strong="H1433" of thy mercy|strong="H2617", and as thou hast forgiven|strong="H5375" this people|strong="H5971", from Egypt|strong="H4714" even until now|strong="H2008".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559", I have pardoned|strong="H5545" according to thy word|strong="H1697":

But as truly|strong="H0199" as I live|strong="H2416", all the earth|strong="H0776" shall be filled|strong="H4390" with the glory|strong="H3519" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Because all those men|strong="H0582" which have seen|strong="H7200" my glory|strong="H3519", and my miracles|strong="H0226", which I did|strong="H6213" in Egypt|strong="H4714" and in the wilderness|strong="H4057", and have tempted|strong="H5254" me now these ten|strong="H6235" times|strong="H6471", and have not hearkened|strong="H8085" to my voice|strong="H6963";

Surely they shall not|strong="H0518" see|strong="H7200" the land|strong="H0776" which I sware|strong="H7650" unto their fathers|strong="H0001", neither shall any of them that provoked|strong="H5006" me see|strong="H7200" it:

But my servant|strong="H5650" Caleb|strong="H3612", because|strong="H6118" he had another|strong="H0312" spirit|strong="H7307" with him, and hath followed|strong="H0310" me fully|strong="H4390", him will I bring|strong="H0935" into the land|strong="H0776" whereinto he went|strong="H0935"; and his seed|strong="H2233" shall possess|strong="H3423" it.

(Now the Amalekites|strong="H6003" and the Canaanites|strong="H3669" dwelt|strong="H3427" in the valley|strong="H6010".) To morrow|strong="H4279" turn|strong="H6437" you, and get|strong="H5265" you into the wilderness|strong="H4057" by the way|strong="H1870" of the Red|strong="H5488" sea|strong="H3220".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" unto Moses|strong="H4872" and unto Aaron|strong="H0175", saying|strong="H0559",

How long shall I bear with this evil|strong="H7451" congregation|strong="H5712", which murmur|strong="H3885" against me? I have heard|strong="H8085" the murmurings|strong="H8519" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", which they murmur|strong="H3885" against me.

Say|strong="H0559" unto them, \+w As truly as|strong="H3808"\+w* I live|strong="H2416", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, as ye have spoken|strong="H1696" in mine ears|strong="H0241", so will I do|strong="H6213" to you:

Your carcases|strong="H6297" shall fall|strong="H5307" in this wilderness|strong="H4057"; and all that were numbered|strong="H6485" of you, according to your whole number|strong="H4557", from twenty|strong="H6242" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" and upward|strong="H4605", which have murmured|strong="H3885" against me,

Doubtless ye shall not|strong="H0518" come|strong="H0935" into the land|strong="H0776", concerning which I sware|strong="H3027" to make you dwell|strong="H7931" therein, save Caleb|strong="H3612" the son|strong="H1121" of Jephunneh|strong="H3312", and Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Nun|strong="H5126".

But your little ones|strong="H2945", which ye said|strong="H0559" should be a prey|strong="H0957", them will I bring in|strong="H0935", and they shall know|strong="H3045" the land|strong="H0776" which ye have despised|strong="H3988".

But as for you, your carcases|strong="H6297", they shall fall|strong="H5307" in this wilderness|strong="H4057".

And your children|strong="H1121" shall wander|strong="H7462" in the wilderness|strong="H4057" forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141", and bear|strong="H5375" your whoredoms|strong="H2184", until your carcases|strong="H6297" be wasted|strong="H8552" in the wilderness|strong="H4057".

After the number|strong="H4557" of the days|strong="H3117" in which ye searched|strong="H8446" the land|strong="H0776", even forty|strong="H0705" days|strong="H3117", each day|strong="H3117" for a year|strong="H8141", shall ye bear|strong="H5375" your iniquities|strong="H5771", even forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141", and ye shall know|strong="H3045" my breach of promise|strong="H8569".

I the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* have said|strong="H1696", I will surely|strong="H0518" do|strong="H6213" it|strong="H2063" unto all this evil|strong="H7451" congregation|strong="H5712", that are gathered together|strong="H3259" against me: in this wilderness|strong="H4057" they shall be consumed|strong="H8552", and there they shall die|strong="H4191".

And the men|strong="H0582", which Moses|strong="H4872" sent|strong="H7971" to search|strong="H8446" the land|strong="H0776", who returned|strong="H7725", and made all the congregation|strong="H5712" to murmur|strong="H3885" against him, by bringing up|strong="H3318" a slander|strong="H1681" upon the land|strong="H0776",

Even those|strong="H0582" men|strong="H0582" that did bring up|strong="H3318" the evil|strong="H7451" report|strong="H1681" upon the land|strong="H0776", died|strong="H4191" by the plague|strong="H4046" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

But Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Nun|strong="H5126", and Caleb|strong="H3612" the son|strong="H1121" of Jephunneh|strong="H3312", which were of the men|strong="H1992" that went|strong="H1980" to search|strong="H8446" the land|strong="H0776", lived|strong="H2421" still.

And Moses|strong="H4872" told|strong="H1696" these sayings|strong="H1697" unto all the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478": and the people|strong="H5971" mourned|strong="H0056" greatly|strong="H3966".

And they rose up early|strong="H7925" in the morning|strong="H1242", and gat them up|strong="H5927" into the top|strong="H7218" of the mountain|strong="H2022", saying|strong="H0559", Lo|strong="H2009", we be here, and will go up|strong="H5927" unto the place|strong="H4725" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath promised|strong="H0559": for we have sinned|strong="H2398".

And Moses|strong="H4872" said|strong="H0559", Wherefore now do ye transgress|strong="H5674" the commandment|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*? but it shall not prosper|strong="H6743".

Go not up|strong="H5927", for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is not among|strong="H7130" you; that ye be not smitten|strong="H5062" before|strong="H6440" your enemies|strong="H0341".

For the Amalekites|strong="H6003" and the Canaanites|strong="H3669" are there before|strong="H6440" you, and ye shall fall|strong="H5307" by the sword|strong="H2719": because ye are turned|strong="H7725" away|strong="H0310" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, therefore the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will not be with you.

But they presumed|strong="H6075" to go up|strong="H5927" unto the hill|strong="H2022" top|strong="H7218": nevertheless the ark|strong="H0727" of the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and Moses|strong="H4872", departed|strong="H4185" not out|strong="H7130" of the camp|strong="H4264".

Then the Amalekites|strong="H6003" came down|strong="H3381", and the Canaanites|strong="H3669" which dwelt|strong="H3427" in that hill|strong="H2022", and smote|strong="H5221" them, and discomfited|strong="H3807" them, even unto Hormah|strong="H2767".
