1 There was also a lot|strong="H1486" for the tribe|strong="H4294" of Manasseh|strong="H4519"; for he was the firstborn|strong="H1060" of Joseph|strong="H3130"; to wit, for Machir|strong="H4353" the firstborn|strong="H1060" of Manasseh|strong="H4519", the father|strong="H0001" of Gilead|strong="H1568": because he was a man|strong="H0376" of war|strong="H4421", therefore he had Gilead|strong="H1568" and Bashan|strong="H1316".
2 There was also a lot for the rest|strong="H3498" of the children|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" by their families|strong="H4940"; for the children|strong="H1121" of Abiezer|strong="H0044", and for the children|strong="H1121" of Helek|strong="H2507", and for the children|strong="H1121" of Asriel|strong="H0844", and for the children|strong="H1121" of Shechem|strong="H7928", and for the children|strong="H1121" of Hepher|strong="H2660", and for the children|strong="H1121" of Shemida|strong="H8061": these were the male|strong="H2145" children|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" the son|strong="H1121" of Joseph|strong="H3130" by their families|strong="H4940".
3 But Zelophehad|strong="H6765", the son|strong="H1121" of Hepher|strong="H2660", the son|strong="H1121" of Gilead|strong="H1568", the son|strong="H1121" of Machir|strong="H4353", the son|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519", had no sons|strong="H1121", but daughters|strong="H1323": and these are the names|strong="H8034" of his daughters|strong="H1323", Mahlah|strong="H4244", and Noah|strong="H5270", Hoglah|strong="H2295", Milcah|strong="H4435", and Tirzah|strong="H8656".
4 And they came near|strong="H7126" before|strong="H6440" Eleazar|strong="H0499" the priest|strong="H3548", and before|strong="H6440" Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Nun|strong="H5126", and before|strong="H6440" the princes|strong="H5387", saying|strong="H0559", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* commanded|strong="H6680" Moses|strong="H4872" to give|strong="H5414" us an inheritance|strong="H5159" among|strong="H8432" our brethren|strong="H0251". Therefore according to the commandment|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* he gave|strong="H5414" them an inheritance|strong="H5159" among|strong="H8432" the brethren|strong="H0251" of their father|strong="H0001".
5 And there fell|strong="H5307" ten|strong="H6235" portions|strong="H2256" to Manasseh|strong="H4519", beside the land|strong="H0776" of Gilead|strong="H1568" and Bashan|strong="H1316", which were on the other side|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383";
6 Because the daughters|strong="H1323" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" had|strong="H5157" an inheritance|strong="H5159" among|strong="H8432" his sons|strong="H1121": and the rest|strong="H3498" of Manasseh’s|strong="H4519" sons|strong="H1121" had the land|strong="H0776" of Gilead|strong="H1568".
7 And the coast|strong="H1366" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" was from Asher|strong="H0836" to Michmethah|strong="H4366", that lieth before|strong="H6440" Shechem|strong="H7927"; and the border|strong="H1366" went along|strong="H1980" on the right hand|strong="H3225" unto the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of En-tappuah|strong="H5887".
8 Now Manasseh|strong="H4519" had the land|strong="H0776" of Tappuah|strong="H8599": but Tappuah|strong="H8599" on the border|strong="H1366" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" belonged to the children|strong="H1121" of Ephraim|strong="H0669";
9 And the coast|strong="H1366" descended|strong="H3381" unto the river|strong="H5158" Kanah|strong="H7071", southward|strong="H5045" of the river|strong="H5158": these cities|strong="H5892" of Ephraim|strong="H0669" are among|strong="H8432" the cities|strong="H5892" of Manasseh|strong="H4519": the coast|strong="H1366" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" also was on the north side|strong="H6828" of the river|strong="H5158", and the outgoings|strong="H8444" of it were at the sea|strong="H3220":
10 Southward|strong="H5045" it was Ephraim’s|strong="H0669", and northward|strong="H6828" it was Manasseh’s|strong="H4519", and the sea|strong="H3220" is his border|strong="H1366"; and they met together|strong="H6293" in Asher|strong="H0836" on the north|strong="H6828", and in Issachar|strong="H3485" on the east|strong="H4217".
11 And Manasseh|strong="H4519" had in Issachar|strong="H3485" and in Asher|strong="H0836" Beth-shean|strong="H1052" and her towns|strong="H1323", and Ibleam|strong="H2991" and her towns|strong="H1323", and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Dor|strong="H1756" and her towns|strong="H1323", and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Endor|strong="H5874" and her towns|strong="H1323", and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Taanach|strong="H8590" and her towns|strong="H1323", and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Megiddo|strong="H4023" and her towns|strong="H1323", even three|strong="H7969" countries|strong="H5316".
12 Yet the children|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" could|strong="H3201" not drive out|strong="H3423" the inhabitants of those cities|strong="H5892"; but the Canaanites|strong="H3669" would|strong="H2974" dwell|strong="H3427" in that land|strong="H0776".
13 Yet it came to pass, when the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" were waxen strong|strong="H2388", that they put|strong="H5414" the Canaanites|strong="H3669" to tribute|strong="H4522"; but did not utterly|strong="H3423" drive them out|strong="H3423".
14 And the children|strong="H1121" of Joseph|strong="H3130" spake|strong="H1696" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", saying|strong="H0559", Why hast thou given|strong="H5414" me but one|strong="H0259" lot|strong="H1486" and one|strong="H0259" portion|strong="H2256" to inherit|strong="H5159", seeing I am a great|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971", forasmuch as|strong="H5704" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath blessed|strong="H1288" me hitherto|strong="H3541"?
15 And Joshua|strong="H3091" answered|strong="H0559" them, If thou be a great|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971", then get thee up|strong="H5927" to the wood|strong="H3293" country, and cut down|strong="H1254" for thyself there in the land|strong="H0776" of the Perizzites|strong="H6522" and of the giants|strong="H7497", if mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669" be too narrow|strong="H0213" for thee.
16 And the children|strong="H1121" of Joseph|strong="H3130" said|strong="H0559", The hill|strong="H2022" is not enough|strong="H4672" for us: and all the Canaanites|strong="H3669" that dwell|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776" of the valley|strong="H6010" have chariots|strong="H7393" of iron|strong="H1270", both they who are of Beth-shean|strong="H1052" and her towns|strong="H1323", and they who are of the valley|strong="H6010" of Jezreel|strong="H3157".
17 And Joshua|strong="H3091" spake|strong="H0559" unto the house|strong="H1004" of Joseph|strong="H3130", even to Ephraim|strong="H0669" and to Manasseh|strong="H4519", saying|strong="H0559", Thou art a great|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971", and hast great|strong="H1419" power|strong="H3581": thou shalt not have one|strong="H0259" lot|strong="H1486" only:
18 But the mountain|strong="H2022" shall be thine; for it is a wood|strong="H3293", and thou shalt cut it down|strong="H1254": and the outgoings|strong="H8444" of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out|strong="H3423" the Canaanites|strong="H3669", though they have iron|strong="H1270" chariots|strong="H7393", and though they be strong|strong="H2389".
