Daniel 8

ENG-KJV2006

In the third|strong="H7969" year|strong="H8141" of the reign|strong="H4438" of king|strong="H4428" Belshazzar|strong="H1112" a vision|strong="H2377" appeared|strong="H7200" unto me, even unto me Daniel|strong="H1840", after|strong="H0310" that which appeared|strong="H7200" unto me at the first|strong="H8462".

And I saw|strong="H7200" in a vision|strong="H2377"; and it came to pass, when I saw|strong="H7200", that I was at Shushan|strong="H7800" in the palace|strong="H1002", which is in the province|strong="H4082" of Elam|strong="H5867"; and I saw|strong="H7200" in a vision|strong="H2377", and I was by the river|strong="H0180" of Ulai|strong="H0195".

Then I lifted up|strong="H5375" mine eyes|strong="H5869", and saw|strong="H7200", and, behold, there stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the river|strong="H0180" a|strong="H0259" ram|strong="H0352" which had two horns|strong="H7161": and the two horns|strong="H7161" were high|strong="H1364"; but one|strong="H0259" was higher|strong="H1364" than the other|strong="H8145", and the higher|strong="H1364" came up|strong="H5927" last|strong="H0314".

I saw|strong="H7200" the ram|strong="H0352" pushing|strong="H5055" westward|strong="H3220", and northward|strong="H6828", and southward|strong="H5045"; so that no beasts|strong="H2416" might stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" him, neither was there any that could deliver|strong="H5337" out of his hand|strong="H3027"; but he did|strong="H6213" according to his will|strong="H7522", and became great|strong="H1431".

And as I was considering|strong="H0995", behold, an he|strong="H5795" goat|strong="H6842" came|strong="H0935" from the west|strong="H4628" on the face|strong="H6440" of the whole earth|strong="H0776", and touched|strong="H5060" not the ground|strong="H0776": and the goat|strong="H6842" had a notable|strong="H2380" horn|strong="H7161" between his eyes|strong="H5869".

And he came|strong="H0935" to the ram|strong="H0352" that had|strong="H1167" two horns|strong="H7161", which I had seen|strong="H7200" standing|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the river|strong="H0180", and ran|strong="H7323" unto him in the fury|strong="H2534" of his power|strong="H3581".

And I saw|strong="H7200" him come|strong="H5060" close unto|strong="H0681" the ram|strong="H0352", and he was moved with choler|strong="H4843" against him, and smote|strong="H5221" the ram|strong="H0352", and brake|strong="H7665" his two|strong="H8147" horns|strong="H7161": and there was no power|strong="H3581" in the ram|strong="H0352" to stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" him, but he cast him down|strong="H7993" to the ground|strong="H0776", and stamped|strong="H7429" upon him: and there was none that could deliver|strong="H5337" the ram|strong="H0352" out of his hand|strong="H3027".

Therefore the he|strong="H6842" goat|strong="H5795" waxed very|strong="H3966" great|strong="H1431": and when he was strong|strong="H6105", the great|strong="H1419" horn|strong="H7161" was broken|strong="H7665"; and for it came up|strong="H5927" four|strong="H0702" notable ones|strong="H2380" toward the four|strong="H0702" winds|strong="H7307" of heaven|strong="H8064".

And out of one|strong="H0259" of them came forth|strong="H3318" a little|strong="H4704" horn|strong="H7161", which waxed exceeding|strong="H3499" great|strong="H1431", toward the south|strong="H5045", and toward the east|strong="H4217", and toward the pleasant|strong="H6643" land.

And it waxed great|strong="H1431", even to the host|strong="H6635" of heaven|strong="H8064"; and it cast down|strong="H5307" some of the host|strong="H6635" and of the stars|strong="H3556" to the ground|strong="H0776", and stamped|strong="H7429" upon them.

Yea, he magnified|strong="H1431" himself even to the prince|strong="H8269" of the host|strong="H6635", and by him the daily|strong="H8548" sacrifice was taken away|strong="H7311", and the place|strong="H4349" of his sanctuary|strong="H4720" was cast down|strong="H7993".

And an host|strong="H6635" was given|strong="H5414" him against the daily|strong="H8548" sacrifice by reason of transgression|strong="H6588", and it cast down|strong="H7993" the truth|strong="H0571" to the ground|strong="H0776"; and it practised|strong="H6213", and prospered|strong="H6743".

Then I heard|strong="H8085" one|strong="H0259" saint|strong="H6918" speaking|strong="H1696", and another|strong="H0259" saint|strong="H6918" said|strong="H0559" unto that certain|strong="H6422" saint which spake|strong="H1696", How long shall be the vision|strong="H2377" concerning the daily|strong="H8548" sacrifice, and the transgression|strong="H6588" of desolation|strong="H8074", to give|strong="H5414" both the sanctuary|strong="H6944" and the host|strong="H6635" to be trodden under foot|strong="H4823"?

And he said|strong="H0559" unto me, Unto two thousand|strong="H0505" and three|strong="H7969" hundred|strong="H3967" days|strong="H6153"; then shall the sanctuary|strong="H6944" be cleansed|strong="H6663".

And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel|strong="H1840", had seen|strong="H7200" the vision|strong="H2377", and sought|strong="H1245" for the meaning|strong="H0998", then, behold, there stood|strong="H5975" before me as the appearance|strong="H4758" of a man|strong="H1397".

And I heard|strong="H8085" a man’s|strong="H0120" voice|strong="H6963" between the banks of Ulai|strong="H0195", which called|strong="H7121", and said|strong="H0559", Gabriel|strong="H1403", make this|strong="H1975" man to understand|strong="H0995" the vision|strong="H4758".

So he came|strong="H0935" near|strong="H0681" where I stood|strong="H5977": and when he came|strong="H0935", I was afraid|strong="H1204", and fell|strong="H5307" upon my face|strong="H6440": but he said|strong="H0559" unto me, Understand|strong="H0995", O son|strong="H1121" of man|strong="H0120": for at the time|strong="H6256" of the end|strong="H7093" shall be the vision|strong="H2377".

Now as he was speaking|strong="H1696" with me, I was in a deep sleep|strong="H7290" on my face|strong="H6440" toward the ground|strong="H0776": but he touched|strong="H5060" me, and set|strong="H5975" me upright|strong="H5977".

And he said|strong="H0559", Behold, I will make thee know|strong="H3045" what shall be in the last end|strong="H0319" of the indignation|strong="H2195": for at the time appointed|strong="H4150" the end|strong="H7093" shall be.

The ram|strong="H0352" which thou sawest|strong="H7200" having|strong="H1167" two horns|strong="H7161" are the kings|strong="H4428" of Media|strong="H4074" and Persia|strong="H6539".

And the rough|strong="H8163" goat|strong="H6842" is the king|strong="H4428" of Grecia|strong="H3120": and the great|strong="H1419" horn|strong="H7161" that is between his eyes|strong="H5869" is the first|strong="H7223" king|strong="H4428".

Now that being broken|strong="H7665", whereas four|strong="H0702" stood up|strong="H5975" for it, four|strong="H0702" kingdoms|strong="H4438" shall stand up|strong="H5975" out of the nation|strong="H1471", but not in his power|strong="H3581".

And in the latter time|strong="H0319" of their kingdom|strong="H4438", when the transgressors|strong="H6586" are come to the full|strong="H8552", a king|strong="H4428" of fierce|strong="H5794" countenance|strong="H6440", and understanding|strong="H0995" dark sentences|strong="H2420", shall stand up|strong="H5975".

And his power|strong="H3581" shall be mighty|strong="H6105", but not by his own power|strong="H3581": and he shall destroy|strong="H7843" wonderfully|strong="H6381", and shall prosper|strong="H6743", and practise|strong="H6213", and shall destroy|strong="H7843" the mighty|strong="H6099" and the holy|strong="H6918" people|strong="H5971".

And through his policy|strong="H7922" also he shall cause craft|strong="H4820" to prosper|strong="H6743" in his hand|strong="H3027"; and he shall magnify|strong="H1431" himself in his heart|strong="H3824", and by peace|strong="H7962" shall destroy|strong="H7843" many|strong="H7227": he shall also stand up|strong="H5975" against the Prince|strong="H8269" of princes|strong="H8269"; but he shall be broken|strong="H7665" without|strong="H0657" hand|strong="H3027".

And the vision|strong="H4758" of the evening|strong="H6153" and the morning|strong="H1242" which was told|strong="H0559" is true|strong="H0571": wherefore shut thou up|strong="H5640" the vision|strong="H2377"; for it shall be for many|strong="H7227" days|strong="H3117".

And I Daniel|strong="H1840" fainted|strong="H1961", and was sick|strong="H2470" certain days|strong="H3117"; afterward I rose up|strong="H6965", and did|strong="H6213" the king’s|strong="H4428" business|strong="H4399"; and I was astonished|strong="H8074" at the vision|strong="H4758", but none understood|strong="H0995" it.
