For|strong="G1063" there|strong="G1161" is|strong="G1510" no|strong="G3756" authority|strong="G1849" except|strong="G1487" from|strong="G5259" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3956" authorities|strong="G1849" that|strong="G3588" exist|strong="G1510" have|strong="G1510" been|strong="G1510" appointed|strong="G5021" by|strong="G5259" God|strong="G2316".
2 So|strong="G1161" then|strong="G1161", whoever|strong="G3588" resists authority|strong="G1849" opposes what|strong="G3588" God|strong="G2316" has|strong="G2316" instituted, and|strong="G1161" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" do|strong="G2983" so|strong="G1161" will|strong="G2316" bring|strong="G2983" judgment|strong="G2917" on|strong="G1161" themselves|strong="G1438".
3 For|strong="G1063" rulers are|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" a|strong="G2192" terror|strong="G5401" to|strong="G2532" good|strong="G3756" works|strong="G2041", but|strong="G1161" to|strong="G2532" evil|strong="G2556" works|strong="G2041". Do|strong="G4160" yoʋ wish|strong="G2309" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" fear|strong="G5401" of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G2532" one|strong="G3588" in|strong="G2532" authority|strong="G1849"? Do|strong="G4160" what|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" good|strong="G3756", and|strong="G2532" yoʋ will|strong="G2309" have|strong="G2192" praise|strong="G1868" from|strong="G1537" him|strong="G3588".
4 For|strong="G1063" he|strong="G1161" is|strong="G1510" God|strong="G2316"'s servant|strong="G1249" for|strong="G1063" your|strong="G1437" good|strong="G3756". But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1437" yoʋ do|strong="G4160" evil|strong="G2556", be|strong="G1510" afraid|strong="G5399", for|strong="G1063" he|strong="G1161" does|strong="G4160" not|strong="G3756" bear|strong="G4160" the|strong="G1519" sword|strong="G3162" in|strong="G1519" vain|strong="G1500". As|strong="G1519" God|strong="G2316"'s servant|strong="G1249", he|strong="G1161" is|strong="G1510" an|strong="G1519" avenger|strong="G1558" who|strong="G3588" executes wrath|strong="G3709" on|strong="G1519" the|strong="G1519" one|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" does|strong="G4160" evil|strong="G2556".
5 Therefore|strong="G1352" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" necessary to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" subject|strong="G5293" to|strong="G2532" authority, not|strong="G3756" only|strong="G3440" because|strong="G1223" of|strong="G1223" wrath|strong="G3709", but|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" because|strong="G1223" of|strong="G1223" conscience|strong="G4893".
6 That|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" also|strong="G2532" why|strong="G1223" you|strong="G1510" pay|strong="G5055" taxes|strong="G5411", for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G2532" authorities are|strong="G1510" servants|strong="G3011" of|strong="G1223" God|strong="G2316", attending continually|strong="G1223" to|strong="G1519" this|strong="G3778" work.
7 Therefore render to|strong="G3956" all|strong="G3956" their|strong="G3956" due|strong="G3782": taxes|strong="G5411" to|strong="G3956" whom|strong="G3588" taxes|strong="G5411" are|strong="G3588" due|strong="G3782", revenue|strong="G5056" to|strong="G3956" whom|strong="G3588" revenue|strong="G5056" is|strong="G3588" due|strong="G3782", fear|strong="G5401" to|strong="G3956" whom|strong="G3588" fear|strong="G5401" is|strong="G3588" due|strong="G3782", and|strong="G5092" honor|strong="G5092" to|strong="G3956" whom|strong="G3588" honor|strong="G5092" is|strong="G3588" due|strong="G3782".
8 Owe|strong="G3784" nothing|strong="G3367" to|strong="G3361" anyone|strong="G3367", except|strong="G1487" to|strong="G3361" love one|strong="G3367" another|strong="G2087", for|strong="G1063" he|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" loves others|strong="G2087" has|strong="G4137" fulfilled|strong="G4137" the|strong="G3588" law|strong="G3551".
9 For|strong="G1063" the|strong="G1722" commandments|strong="G1785", “Yoʋ shall|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" commit|strong="G3431" adultery|strong="G3431", Yoʋ shall|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" murder|strong="G5407", Yoʋ shall|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" steal|strong="G2813", Yoʋ shall|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" covet|strong="G1937",” and|strong="G2532" whatever|strong="G5100" other|strong="G2087" commandments|strong="G1785" there|strong="G2532" may|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532", are|strong="G3588" summed up|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" this|strong="G3778" one|strong="G5100" command|strong="G1785": “Yoʋ shall|strong="G2532" love yoʋr neighbor|strong="G4139" as|strong="G5613" yoʋrself.”
10 Love does|strong="G2038" no|strong="G3756" harm|strong="G2556" to|strong="G3756" its neighbor|strong="G4139"; therefore|strong="G3767" love is|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" fulfillment|strong="G4138" of|strong="G3551" the|strong="G3588" law|strong="G3551".
11 And|strong="G2532" do|strong="G1492" this|strong="G3778", knowing|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" the|strong="G2532" hour|strong="G5610" has|strong="G3778" now|strong="G3568" come|strong="G2532" for|strong="G1063" us|strong="G2249" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" awakened from|strong="G1537" sleep|strong="G5258". For|strong="G1063" our|strong="G2532" salvation|strong="G4991" is|strong="G3588" nearer|strong="G1452" now|strong="G3568" than|strong="G2228" when|strong="G3753" we|strong="G2249" first|strong="G3588" believed|strong="G4100".
12 The|strong="G1161" night|strong="G3571" is|strong="G3588" nearly over, and|strong="G1161" the|strong="G1161" day|strong="G2250" is|strong="G3588" almost|strong="G4298" here. So|strong="G3767" let|strong="G1161" us lay aside the|strong="G1161" works|strong="G2041" of|strong="G2250" darkness|strong="G4655" and|strong="G1161" put|strong="G1746" on|strong="G1746" the|strong="G1161" armor|strong="G3696" of|strong="G2250" light|strong="G5457".
13 Let|strong="G2532" us|strong="G1722" walk|strong="G4043" properly|strong="G2156", as|strong="G5613" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" day|strong="G2250", not|strong="G3361" in|strong="G1722" revelries and|strong="G2532" drinking bouts, not|strong="G3361" in|strong="G1722" illicit affairs and|strong="G2532" sensual indulgences, not|strong="G3361" in|strong="G1722" strife|strong="G2054" and|strong="G2532" jealousy|strong="G2205".
14 But|strong="G2532" put|strong="G1746" on|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547", and|strong="G2532" make|strong="G4160" no|strong="G3361" provision|strong="G4307" for|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" flesh|strong="G4561", to|strong="G1519" gratify its desires|strong="G1939".
