2 and|strong="G2532" live|strong="G4043" a|strong="G2532" life|strong="G4043" of|strong="G2316" love, following|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" example of|strong="G2316" the|strong="G1722" Christ|strong="G5547", who|strong="G3588" loved you|strong="G5210" and|strong="G2532" gave|strong="G3860" himself|strong="G1438" for|strong="G1519" you|strong="G5210" as|strong="G2531" an|strong="G2532" offering|strong="G4376" and|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" sacrifice|strong="G2378" to|strong="G1519" God|strong="G2316", that|strong="G3588" should|strong="G2316" be|strong="G2532" fragrant|strong="G2175" and|strong="G2532" acceptable.
3 As|strong="G2531" for|strong="G1161" sexual|strong="G4202" immorality|strong="G4202" and|strong="G2532" every|strong="G3956" kind|strong="G3956" of|strong="G2532" impurity, or|strong="G2228" greed|strong="G4124", do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3366" let|strong="G1161" them|strong="G1722" even|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" mentioned among|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5210", as|strong="G2531" befits Christ’s people|strong="G3956",
4 nor|strong="G2532" shameful conduct, nor|strong="G2532" foolish|strong="G2532" talk|strong="G3473" or|strong="G2228" obscene jokes, for|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" are|strong="G3739" wholly out|strong="G2532" of|strong="G2532" place|strong="G3739" among you|strong="G3739"; but|strong="G2532" rather|strong="G3123" thanksgiving|strong="G2169".
5 For|strong="G1063" of|strong="G2316" this|strong="G3778" you|strong="G3739" may|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" sure|strong="G1097" – that|strong="G3754" no|strong="G3756" one|strong="G3739" who|strong="G3739" is|strong="G1510" unchaste or|strong="G2228" impure or|strong="G2228" greedy|strong="G4123" of|strong="G2316" gain (for|strong="G1063" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" greedy|strong="G4123" of|strong="G2316" gain is|strong="G1510" idolatry) has|strong="G2192" any|strong="G3956" place|strong="G1722" awaiting him|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" kingdom of|strong="G2316" the|strong="G1722" Christ|strong="G5547" and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316".
6 Do|strong="G3056" not|strong="G3367" let|strong="G1063" anyone|strong="G3367" deceive you|strong="G5210" with|strong="G1223" specious arguments. Those|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" the|strong="G1909" sins that|strong="G3588" bring down the|strong="G1909" wrath|strong="G3709" of|strong="G5207" God|strong="G2316" on|strong="G1909" the|strong="G1909" disobedient.
7 Therefore|strong="G3767" have|strong="G1096" nothing|strong="G3361" to|strong="G1096" do|strong="G1096" with|strong="G1096" such people|strong="G3767".
8 For|strong="G1063", although|strong="G1161" you|strong="G1722" were|strong="G1510" once|strong="G4218" in|strong="G1722" darkness|strong="G4655", now|strong="G1161", by|strong="G1722" your|strong="G2962" union with|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" Lord|strong="G2962", you|strong="G1722" are|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" light|strong="G5457". Live|strong="G4043" as|strong="G5613" children|strong="G5043" of|strong="G2962" light|strong="G5457" –
9 for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G1722" outcome of|strong="G2532" life in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" light|strong="G5457" may|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" seen in|strong="G1722" every|strong="G3956" form|strong="G3956" of|strong="G2532" goodness, righteousness|strong="G1343", and|strong="G2532" sincerity –
10 always trying|strong="G1381" to|strong="G5101" find out|strong="G2962" what|strong="G5101" is|strong="G1510" pleasing|strong="G2101" to|strong="G5101" the|strong="G3588" Lord|strong="G2962".
11 Take|strong="G3123" no|strong="G3361" part|strong="G1161" in|strong="G2532" deeds|strong="G2041" of|strong="G2532" darkness|strong="G4655", from|strong="G2532" which|strong="G3588" no|strong="G3361" good|strong="G3588" can come|strong="G2532"; on|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" contrary, expose|strong="G1651" them|strong="G3588".
12 It|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" degrading even|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" speak|strong="G3004" of|strong="G5259" the|strong="G2532" things|strong="G3588" continually done|strong="G1096" by|strong="G5259" them|strong="G3588" in|strong="G2532" secret|strong="G2931".
13 All|strong="G3956" such|strong="G1161" actions, when|strong="G1161" exposed|strong="G1651", have|strong="G1510" their|strong="G3956" true|strong="G3588" character made|strong="G5319" manifest|strong="G5319" by|strong="G5259" the|strong="G3956" light|strong="G5457".
14 For|strong="G1063" everything|strong="G3956" that|strong="G3588" has|strong="G5547" its|strong="G3956" true|strong="G3588" character made|strong="G5319" manifest|strong="G5319" is|strong="G1510" clear|strong="G5319" as|strong="G2532" light|strong="G5457". And|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" why|strong="G1063" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" said|strong="G3004" –
15 Take great care, then|strong="G3767", how|strong="G4459" you|strong="G4459" live|strong="G4043" – not|strong="G3361" unwisely but|strong="G3361" wisely,
16 making|strong="G1805" the|strong="G3588" most|strong="G1805" of|strong="G2250" every|strong="G3754" opportunity|strong="G2540"; for|strong="G3754" these|strong="G3588" are|strong="G1510" evil|strong="G4190" days|strong="G2250".

18 Do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3361" drink|strong="G2532" wine|strong="G3631" to|strong="G2532" excess, for|strong="G1722" that|strong="G3739" leads to|strong="G2532" profligacy; but|strong="G2532" seek to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" filled|strong="G4137" with|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" Spirit|strong="G4151" of|strong="G4151" God|strong="G2532", and|strong="G2532" speak to|strong="G2532" one|strong="G3739" another|strong="G3739" in|strong="G1722" psalms and|strong="G2532" hymns and|strong="G2532" sacred songs.
19 Sing|strong="G5567" and|strong="G2532" make|strong="G2532" music in|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2962" hearts|strong="G2588" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" Lord|strong="G2962".
20 Always|strong="G3842" give|strong="G2168" thanks|strong="G2168" for|strong="G5228" everything|strong="G3956" to|strong="G2532" our|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316" and|strong="G2532" Father|strong="G3962", in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" name|strong="G3686" of|strong="G2316" our|strong="G2316" Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547".
21 Submit|strong="G5293" to|strong="G1722" one|strong="G1722" another|strong="G5293" because|strong="G1722" you|strong="G1722" honour and|strong="G5547" respect|strong="G5401" Christ|strong="G5547".
22 Wives|strong="G1135" should|strong="G3588" submit|strong="G2398" to|strong="G2962" their|strong="G2398" husbands as|strong="G5613" submitting to|strong="G2962" the|strong="G3588" Lord|strong="G2962".
23 For|strong="G3754" a|strong="G5613" man is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" head|strong="G2776" of|strong="G2532" his|strong="G2532" wife|strong="G1135", as|strong="G5613" the|strong="G2532" Christ|strong="G5547" is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" head|strong="G2776" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" church|strong="G1577" – being|strong="G1510" indeed|strong="G2532" himself the|strong="G2532" Saviour|strong="G4990" of|strong="G2532" his|strong="G2532" body|strong="G4983".

28 That|strong="G3588" is|strong="G3588" how|strong="G5613" husbands ought|strong="G3784" to|strong="G2532" love their|strong="G1438" wives|strong="G1135" – as|strong="G5613" if|strong="G5613" they|strong="G2532" were|strong="G3588" their|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" bodies|strong="G4983". A|strong="G5613" man who|strong="G3588" loves his|strong="G1438" wife|strong="G1135" is|strong="G3588" really loving himself|strong="G1438";
29 for|strong="G1063" no|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" ever|strong="G4218" yet|strong="G2532" hated|strong="G3404" his|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" body|strong="G4561". But|strong="G2532" everyone feeds his|strong="G1438" body|strong="G4561" and|strong="G2532" cares|strong="G2282" for|strong="G1063" it|strong="G2532", just|strong="G2531" as|strong="G2531" the|strong="G2532" Christ|strong="G5547" for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G2532" church|strong="G1577";
30 for|strong="G3754" we|strong="G3754" are|strong="G1510" members|strong="G3196" of|strong="G4983" his|strong="G3754" body|strong="G4983".
31 For|strong="G1519" this|strong="G3778" cause|strong="G3588" a|strong="G2532" man|strong="G3778" will|strong="G1510" leave|strong="G2641" his|strong="G1519" father|strong="G3962" and|strong="G2532" mother|strong="G3384", and|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" united to|strong="G1519" his|strong="G1519" wife|strong="G1135"; and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" man|strong="G3778" and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G1519" wife|strong="G1135" will|strong="G1510" become|strong="G1510" one|strong="G1520".
32 In|strong="G1519" this|strong="G3778" there|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2532" profound truth – I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" speaking|strong="G3004" of|strong="G2532" Christ|strong="G5547" and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G1519" church|strong="G1577".
33 However|strong="G1161", for|strong="G1161" you|strong="G5210" individually|strong="G2596", let|strong="G1161" each|strong="G1538" love his|strong="G1438" wife|strong="G1135" as|strong="G5613" if|strong="G5613" she|strong="G2532" were|strong="G3588" himself|strong="G1438"; and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" wife|strong="G1135" be|strong="G2532" careful to|strong="G2443" respect|strong="G5399" her|strong="G1438" husband.
