The Lord, the only true God, has spoken.
God shines from Zion,
Our God will come and will not remain silent.
He summons heaven and earth to judge his people:
“Gather around me, my godly people
The heavens announce his righteousness
“Listen, my people, and I will speak.
I am not criticizing you for your sacrifices or burnt offerings,
⌞But⌟ I will not accept ⌞another⌟ young bull from your household
Every creature in the forest,
I know every bird in the mountains.
If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
Do I eat the meat of bulls or drink the blood of goats?
Bring ⌞your⌟ thanks to God as a sacrifice,
Call on me in times of trouble.
But God says to wicked people,
You hate discipline.
When you see a thief, you want to make friends with him.
You let your mouth say anything evil.
You sit and talk against your own brother.
When you did these things, I remained silent.
Consider this, you people who forget God.
Whoever offers thanks as a sacrifice honors me.
