I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my Savior,
The Lord should be praised.
The ropes of death had become tangled around me.
The ropes of the grave had surrounded me.
I called on the Lord in my distress.
Then the earth shook and quaked.
Smoke went up from his nostrils,
He spread apart the heavens
He rode on one of the angels as he flew,
He made the darkness his hiding place,
Out of the brightness in front of him,
The Lord thundered in the heavens.
He shot his arrows and scattered them.
Then the ocean floor could be seen.
He reached down from high above and took hold of me.
He rescued me from my strong enemy
On the day when I faced disaster, they confronted me,
He brought me out to a wide-open place.
The Lord rewarded me
because I have kept the ways of the Lord
because all his judgments are in front of me
I was innocent as far as he was concerned.
The Lord paid me back
⌞In dealing⌟ with faithful people you are faithful,
with pure people you are pure.
You save humble people,
O Lord, you light my lamp.
With you I can attack a line of soldiers.
God’s way is perfect!
Who is God but the Lord?
God arms me with strength
He makes my feet like those of a deer
He trains my hands for battle
You have given me the shield of your salvation.
You make a wide path for me to walk on
I chased my enemies and caught up with them.
I wounded them so badly that they were unable to get up.
You armed me with strength for battle.
You made my enemies turn their backs to me,
They cried out for help, but there was no one to save them.
I beat them into a powder as fine as the dust blown by the wind.
You rescued me from my conflicts with the people.
As soon as they hear of me, they will obey me.
Foreigners will lose heart,
The Lord lives!
God gives me vengeance!
He saves me from my enemies.
That is why I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the nations
He gives great victories to his king.
