The|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068" told|strong="H0559" Moses|strong="H4872" these|strong="H1696" rules for|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" people|strong="H1696":

“You|strong="H6680" are|strong="H1121" guilty of|strong="H1121" sin against|strong="H5921" the|strong="H3605" LORD when|strong="H5704" you|strong="H6680" do|strong="H6680" any|strong="H3605" of|strong="H1121" these|strong="H2063" things|strong="H3605": when|strong="H5704" you|strong="H6680" lie about|strong="H5921" what|strong="H5921" happened to|strong="H0559" something you|strong="H6680" were|strong="H1121" taking care|strong="H5921" of|strong="H1121" for|strong="H5921" someone else|strong="H3605"; when|strong="H5704" you|strong="H6680" lie about|strong="H5921" a|strong="H5921" deposit you|strong="H6680" received|strong="H5921"; when|strong="H5704" you|strong="H6680" steal something; when|strong="H5704" you|strong="H6680" cheat someone;

when|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0834" find something that|strong="H0834" was|strong="H0834" lost and|strong="H0398" lie about|strong="H5921" having it|strong="H7760"; when|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0834" fail to|strong="H5921" keep a|strong="H7760" promise; or|strong="H0398" when|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0834" do any|strong="H0398" other bad things|strong="H0834" like|strong="H0834" these|strong="H0834".

If you|strong="H0853" do|strong="H3318" any|strong="H0312" of|strong="H4264" these things, you|strong="H0853" are|strong="H1880" guilty of|strong="H4264" doing|strong="H3318" wrong. You|strong="H0853" must|strong="H0853" give back|strong="H3318" whatever you|strong="H0853" stole or whatever you|strong="H0853" took|strong="H3318" by|strong="H0413" cheating. You|strong="H0853" must|strong="H0853" return whatever you|strong="H0853" took|strong="H3318" that|strong="H4725" another|strong="H0312" person|strong="H0413" asked|strong="H0413" you|strong="H0853" to|strong="H0413" hold, or whatever you|strong="H0853" found and|strong="H3318" lied about|strong="H0413" having,

or|strong="H3808" whatever you|strong="H5921" made|strong="H6086" a|strong="H5921" false promise about|strong="H5921". You|strong="H5921" must|strong="H3808" pay the|strong="H5921" full price and|strong="H3548" then|strong="H3548" add one-fifth of|strong="H4196" that|strong="H2459" amount as|strong="H4196" a|strong="H5921" fine and|strong="H3548" give it|strong="H5921" all to|strong="H5921" the|strong="H5921" true owner.

You|strong="H5921" must|strong="H3808" also|strong="H0784" bring a|strong="H5921" ram to|strong="H5921" the|strong="H5921" LORD that|strong="H0784" has|strong="H0784" nothing|strong="H3808" wrong with|strong="H5921" it|strong="H5921" (or|strong="H3808" the|strong="H5921" same amount in|strong="H5921" silver) to|strong="H5921" the|strong="H5921" priest.

Then|strong="H0853" the|strong="H0853" priest will|strong="H3068" go|strong="H7126" to|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068" to|strong="H0413" make you|strong="H6440" pure, and|strong="H1121" God|strong="H3068" will|strong="H3068" forgive you|strong="H6440" for|strong="H0413" whichever of|strong="H1121" these|strong="H2063" things you|strong="H6440" did that|strong="H3068" made|strong="H7126" you|strong="H6440" guilty.”

The|strong="H3605" LORD|strong="H3068" said to|strong="H5921" Moses,

“Give|strong="H0398" this|strong="H0398" command to|strong="H1121" Aaron|strong="H0175" and|strong="H1121" his|strong="H4480" sons|strong="H1121": This|strong="H0398" is|strong="H1121" the|strong="H4480" law of|strong="H1121" the|strong="H4480" burnt offering|strong="H4480". The|strong="H4480" burnt offering|strong="H4480" must|strong="H1121" stay on|strong="H4725" the|strong="H4480" hearth of|strong="H1121" the|strong="H4480" altar all|strong="H0398" night until morning. The|strong="H4480" altar’s fire|strong="H0398" must|strong="H1121" be|strong="H1121" kept|strong="H0398" burning.

The|strong="H0853" priest must|strong="H0853" change clothes and|strong="H0853" put|strong="H5414" on|strong="H3808" the|strong="H0853" special linen underwear and|strong="H0853" linen robe. Then|strong="H0853" he|strong="H1931" must|strong="H0853" gather up|strong="H5414" the|strong="H0853" ashes from|strong="H3808" the|strong="H0853" fire|strong="H0801" and|strong="H0853" burnt offerings|strong="H0801" and|strong="H0853" set|strong="H5414" them|strong="H5414" down|strong="H5414" by|strong="H0801" the|strong="H0853" altar.

Then|strong="H3068" he|strong="H0834" must|strong="H1121" take off|strong="H0398" the|strong="H3605" special clothes and|strong="H1121" put on|strong="H3068" the|strong="H3605" other|strong="H3605" clothes and|strong="H1121" carry the|strong="H3605" ashes outside the|strong="H3605" camp to|strong="H3068" a|strong="H0834" special place|strong="H3605" that|strong="H0834" is|strong="H0834" pure.

The|strong="H0559" fire that|strong="H3068" was|strong="H3068" started on|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" altar must never be|strong="H3068" allowed|strong="H3068" to|strong="H0413" stop burning. Every morning the|strong="H0559" priests must put wood on|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" altar. They|strong="H3068" must arrange the|strong="H0559" burnt offerings|strong="H3068" on|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" wood, and|strong="H3068" they|strong="H3068" must burn the|strong="H0559" fat of|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0559" fellowship offerings|strong="H3068" on|strong="H0413" it|strong="H1696".

That|strong="H0834" fire must|strong="H0853" always|strong="H8548" be|strong="H1121" kept burning on|strong="H3117" the|strong="H0853" altar. It|strong="H7126" must|strong="H0853" never be|strong="H1121" allowed|strong="H3068" to|strong="H3068" stop burning.

“This|strong="H3068" is|strong="H3068" the|strong="H5921" law for|strong="H5921" the|strong="H5921" grain offering|strong="H4503": The|strong="H5921" sons of|strong="H3068" Aaron will|strong="H3068" bring|strong="H0935" it|strong="H5921" to|strong="H0935" the|strong="H5921" front of|strong="H3068" the|strong="H5921" altar as|strong="H0935" an|strong="H7126" offering|strong="H4503" to|strong="H0935" the|strong="H5921" LORD|strong="H3068".

There|strong="H5769" must|strong="H0853" be|strong="H1121" some oil and|strong="H1121" frankincense on|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" grain|strong="H6999" offering|strong="H6999". The|strong="H0853" priest|strong="H3548" will|strong="H3068" take a|strong="H3068" handful of|strong="H1121" fine flour from|strong="H1121" the|strong="H0853" grain|strong="H6999" offering|strong="H6999" and|strong="H1121" burn|strong="H6999" it|strong="H6213" on|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" altar as|strong="H3068" a|strong="H3068" sweet-smelling memorial offering|strong="H6999" to|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068".

“Aaron and|strong="H0398" his|strong="H3605" sons will|strong="H1961" use|strong="H0398" the|strong="H3605" rest|strong="H1961" of|strong="H3605" that|strong="H3605" grain|strong="H3605" to|strong="H1961" make bread without|strong="H3808" yeast. This|strong="H0398" must|strong="H3808" be|strong="H1961" eaten|strong="H0398" in|strong="H3808" a|strong="H1961" holy place|strong="H1961"—in|strong="H3808" the|strong="H3605" courtyard around the|strong="H3605" Meeting Tent.

I|strong="H3068" have|strong="H3068" given this|strong="H3068" part of|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0559" grain offering|strong="H3068" as|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0559" priests’ share of|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0559" gifts offered to|strong="H0413" me|strong="H0413". Like|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0559" sin offering|strong="H3068" and|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0559" guilt offering|strong="H3068", it|strong="H1696" is|strong="H3068" most holy. It|strong="H1696" must not be|strong="H3068" baked with|strong="H0413" yeast.

Any|strong="H6440" male|strong="H1121" descendant|strong="H1121" of|strong="H1121" Aaron|strong="H0175" may|strong="H3068" eat from|strong="H6440" these|strong="H2063" gifts|strong="H6944" to|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068". This|strong="H2063" is|strong="H0834" their|strong="H3068" share forever throughout|strong="H0413" your|strong="H3068" generations. Whatever|strong="H0834" touches these|strong="H2063" offerings|strong="H3068" will|strong="H3068" be|strong="H1121" made|strong="H1696" holy|strong="H6944".”

The|strong="H0853" LORD said to|strong="H4725" Moses,

“This|strong="H0834" is|strong="H0834" the|strong="H3605" offering that|strong="H0834" Aaron and|strong="H1818" his|strong="H3605" sons must|strong="H1818" bring|strong="H5060" to|strong="H5921" the|strong="H3605" LORD when|strong="H0834" Aaron is|strong="H0834" anointed to|strong="H5921" be|strong="H3605" the|strong="H3605" high priest. They|strong="H0834" must|strong="H1818" bring|strong="H5060" 8 cups of|strong="H5921" fine flour for|strong="H5921" a|strong="H0834" grain|strong="H3605" offering. This|strong="H0834" will|strong="H0834" be|strong="H3605" offered at|strong="H5921" the|strong="H3605" times of|strong="H5921" the|strong="H3605" daily offering—half of|strong="H5921" it|strong="H5921" in|strong="H5921" the|strong="H3605" morning and|strong="H1818" half of|strong="H5921" it|strong="H5921" in|strong="H5921" the|strong="H3605" evening.

The|strong="H0834" fine flour must|strong="H0518" be|strong="H4325" mixed with|strong="H3627" oil and|strong="H4325" baked|strong="H1310" on|strong="H3627" a|strong="H0518" pan. After it|strong="H0518" is|strong="H0834" cooked, you|strong="H0834" must|strong="H0518" bring|strong="H7665" it|strong="H0518" in|strong="H7665", break|strong="H7665" it|strong="H0518" into|strong="H3627" pieces|strong="H7665", and|strong="H4325" offer it|strong="H0518" as|strong="H0834" a|strong="H0518" sweet-smelling gift to|strong="H4325" LORD.

“In|strong="H1931" the|strong="H3605" future, when Aaron’s descendants take their|strong="H3605" place|strong="H6944" as|strong="H0398" the|strong="H3605" anointed priests|strong="H3548", they|strong="H3605" will|strong="H1931" continue to|strong="H3605" make this|strong="H1931" grain|strong="H3605" offering|strong="H3548" to|strong="H3605" the|strong="H3605" Lord. This|strong="H1931" rule will|strong="H1931" continue forever. The|strong="H3605" grain|strong="H3605" offering|strong="H3548" must|strong="H0853" be|strong="H3605" completely|strong="H3605" burned for|strong="H3605" the|strong="H3605" LORD.

Every|strong="H3605" grain|strong="H3605" offering|strong="H3722" that|strong="H0834" a|strong="H0935" priest gives must|strong="H3808" be|strong="H3808" completely|strong="H3605" burned|strong="H8313". It|strong="H0398" must|strong="H3808" not|strong="H3808" be|strong="H3808" eaten|strong="H0398".”

The LORD said to Moses,

“Tell Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the sin offering. The sin offering must be killed in the place where the burnt offering is killed before the LORD. It is most holy.

The priest who offers the sin offering must eat it. But he must eat it in a holy place, in the courtyard around the Meeting Tent.

Touching the meat of the sin offering makes a person or a thing holy.

If the sin offering was boiled in a clay pot, the pot must be broken. If the sin offering was boiled in a bronze pot, the pot must be washed and rinsed in water.

“Any male in a priest’s family may eat the sin offering. It is very holy.

But if the blood of the sin offering was taken into the Meeting Tent and used in the Holy Place to make people pure, that sin offering must not be eaten. It must be completely burned in the fire.
