2 Jesus|strong="G0846" saw|strong="G3708" two|strong="G1417" boats|strong="G4143" at|strong="G3844" the|strong="G3588" shore of|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" lake|strong="G3041". The|strong="G3588" fishermen|strong="G0231" were|strong="G3588" washing|strong="G4150" their|strong="G0846" nets|strong="G1350".
3 Jesus|strong="G0846" got|strong="G1684" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" boat|strong="G4143" that|strong="G3739" belonged|strong="G0575" to|strong="G1519" Simon|strong="G4613". He|strong="G0846" asked|strong="G2065" Simon|strong="G4613" to|strong="G1519" push off|strong="G0575" a|strong="G1510" little|strong="G3641" from|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" shore|strong="G1093". 4 When|strong="G5613" Jesus|strong="G3004" finished|strong="G3973" speaking|strong="G2980", he|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G1519" Simon|strong="G4613", “Take the|strong="G3588" boat into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" deep|strong="G0899" water|strong="G0899". If|strong="G5613" all|strong="G3588" of|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2532" put|strong="G1877" your|strong="G2532" nets|strong="G1350" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" water|strong="G0899", you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2532" catch|strong="G0061" some|strong="G3588" fish.”
5 Simon|strong="G4613" answered|strong="G0611", “Master|strong="G1988", we|strong="G2532" worked|strong="G2872" hard|strong="G2872" all|strong="G3650" night|strong="G3571" trying to|strong="G3004" catch fish and|strong="G2532" caught|strong="G2983" nothing|strong="G3762". But|strong="G1161" you|strong="G4771" say|strong="G3004" I|strong="G2532" should|strong="G2532" put|strong="G2983" the|strong="G3588" nets|strong="G1350" into|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3588" water, so|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532".”
6 The|strong="G3588" fishermen put|strong="G4160" their|strong="G0846" nets|strong="G1350" into|strong="G4160" the|strong="G3588" water. Their|strong="G0846" nets|strong="G1350" were|strong="G3778" filled with|strong="G2532" so|strong="G2532" many|strong="G4183" fish|strong="G2486" that|strong="G3778" they|strong="G0846" began to|strong="G2532" break|strong="G1284".
7 They|strong="G0846" called to|strong="G2064" their|strong="G0846" friends in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" other|strong="G2087" boat|strong="G4143" to|strong="G2064" come|strong="G2064" and|strong="G2532" help|strong="G4815" them|strong="G0846". The|strong="G3588" friends came|strong="G2064", and|strong="G2532" both|strong="G2532" boats|strong="G4143" were|strong="G3588" filled|strong="G4130" so|strong="G2532" full of|strong="G1722" fish that|strong="G5620" they|strong="G0846" were|strong="G3588" almost sinking.
10 James|strong="G2385" and|strong="G2532" John|strong="G2491", the|strong="G3588" sons|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Zebedee|strong="G2199", were|strong="G1510" amazed too|strong="G2532". (James|strong="G2385" and|strong="G2532" John|strong="G2491" worked together|strong="G2532" with|strong="G4314" Simon|strong="G4613".)
11 The|strong="G3956" men|strong="G3956" brought|strong="G2609" their|strong="G0846" boats|strong="G4143" to|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3956" shore|strong="G1093". They|strong="G0846" left|strong="G0863" everything|strong="G3956" and|strong="G2532" followed|strong="G0190" Jesus|strong="G0846".
12 One|strong="G1520" time|strong="G1909" Jesus|strong="G2424" was|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" a|strong="G1096" town|strong="G4172" where|strong="G1722" a|strong="G1096" very|strong="G0846" sick man|strong="G0435" lived|strong="G1510". This|strong="G3588" man|strong="G0435" was|strong="G1510" covered|strong="G1096" with|strong="G1722" leprosy|strong="G3014". When|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" man|strong="G0435" saw|strong="G3708" Jesus|strong="G2424", he|strong="G2532" bowed before|strong="G1909" Jesus|strong="G2424" and|strong="G2532" begged|strong="G1189" him|strong="G0846", “Lord|strong="G2962", you|strong="G1437" have|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3588" power|strong="G1410" to|strong="G3004" heal me|strong="G3004" if|strong="G1437" you|strong="G1437" want|strong="G2309".”
13 Jesus|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004", “I|strong="G2532" want|strong="G2309" to|strong="G3004" heal you|strong="G3004". Be|strong="G2532" healed!” Then|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" touched|strong="G0681" the|strong="G3588" man, and|strong="G2532" immediately|strong="G2112" the|strong="G3588" leprosy|strong="G3014" disappeared.
14 Then|strong="G2532" Jesus|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004", “Don’t|strong="G3367" tell|strong="G3004" anyone|strong="G3367" about|strong="G4012" what|strong="G3588" happened|strong="G3588". But|strong="G0235" go|strong="G0565" and|strong="G2532" let|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" priest|strong="G2409" look at|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771". And|strong="G2532" offer|strong="G4374" a|strong="G3004" gift to|strong="G1519" God|strong="G0846" for|strong="G1519" your|strong="G2532" healing as|strong="G2531" Moses|strong="G3475" commanded|strong="G4367". This|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2532" show|strong="G1166" people|strong="G0846" that|strong="G3004" you|strong="G4771" are|strong="G3588" healed.”
15 But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" news|strong="G3056" about|strong="G4012" Jesus|strong="G0846" spread|strong="G1330" more|strong="G3123" and|strong="G2532" more|strong="G3123". Many|strong="G4183" people|strong="G3793" came|strong="G4905" to|strong="G2532" hear|strong="G0191" him|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" healed|strong="G2323" of|strong="G3056" their|strong="G0846" sicknesses|strong="G0769".
16 Jesus|strong="G0846" often went away|strong="G5298" to|strong="G2532" other|strong="G1161" places to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" alone|strong="G0846" so|strong="G2532" that|strong="G0846" he|strong="G2532" could pray|strong="G4336".
17 One|strong="G1520" day|strong="G2250" Jesus|strong="G0846" was|strong="G1510" teaching|strong="G1321" the|strong="G3956" people|strong="G3956". The|strong="G3956" Pharisees|strong="G5330" and|strong="G2532" teachers|strong="G3547" of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G3956" law|strong="G3547" were|strong="G1510" sitting|strong="G2521" there|strong="G1510" too|strong="G2532". They|strong="G0846" had|strong="G1510" come|strong="G2064" from|strong="G1537" every|strong="G3956" town|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" Galilee|strong="G1056" and|strong="G2532" Judea|strong="G2449" and|strong="G2532" from|strong="G1537" Jerusalem|strong="G2419". The|strong="G3956" Lord|strong="G2962" was|strong="G1510" giving Jesus|strong="G0846" the|strong="G3956" power|strong="G1411" to|strong="G1519" heal|strong="G2390" people|strong="G3956".
18 There|strong="G1510" was|strong="G1510" a|strong="G1510" man|strong="G0444" who|strong="G3739" was|strong="G1510" paralyzed|strong="G3886", and|strong="G2532" some|strong="G3739" other|strong="G3739" men|strong="G0444" were|strong="G1510" carrying|strong="G5342" him|strong="G0846" on|strong="G1909" a|strong="G1510" mat. They|strong="G0846" tried|strong="G2212" to|strong="G1909" bring|strong="G5342" him|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" put|strong="G5087" him|strong="G0846" down|strong="G5087" before|strong="G1799" Jesus|strong="G0846".
19 But|strong="G2532" there|strong="G1715" were|strong="G3793" so|strong="G2532" many|strong="G3793" people|strong="G3793" that|strong="G0846" they|strong="G0846" could|strong="G2147" not|strong="G3361" find|strong="G2147" a|strong="G2147" way|strong="G1223" to|strong="G1519" Jesus|strong="G2424". They|strong="G0846" lowered|strong="G2524" the|strong="G3588" mat into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G3588" room so|strong="G2532" that|strong="G0846" the|strong="G3588" crippled man|strong="G3361" was|strong="G2424" lying before|strong="G1715" Jesus|strong="G2424".
20 Jesus|strong="G0846" saw|strong="G3708" how much faith|strong="G4102" they|strong="G0846" had|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" sick man|strong="G0444", “Friend|strong="G0444", your|strong="G0863" sins|strong="G0266" are|strong="G3588" forgiven|strong="G0863".”
21 The|strong="G3588" Jewish teachers of|strong="G2316" the|strong="G3588" law and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330" thought|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" themselves|strong="G1510", “Who|strong="G3739" is|strong="G1510" this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G3778" who|strong="G3739" dares to|strong="G3004" say|strong="G3004" such|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778"? What|strong="G5101" an|strong="G1510" insult to|strong="G3004" God|strong="G2316"! No|strong="G3361" one|strong="G3739" but|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" can|strong="G1410" forgive|strong="G0863" sins|strong="G0266".”
22 But|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" knew|strong="G1921" what|strong="G5101" they|strong="G0846" were|strong="G3588" thinking|strong="G1261" and|strong="G1161" said|strong="G3004", “Why|strong="G5101" do|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G3588" these|strong="G3588" questions in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G1438" minds|strong="G2588"?
25 The|strong="G3588" man|strong="G2316" immediately|strong="G3916" stood|strong="G0450" up|strong="G0142" in|strong="G1519" front|strong="G1799" of|strong="G2316" everyone|strong="G3739". He|strong="G2532" picked|strong="G0142" up|strong="G0142" his|strong="G0846" mat and|strong="G2532" walked home|strong="G3624", praising|strong="G1392" God|strong="G2316".
26 Everyone|strong="G3748" was|strong="G3588" completely|strong="G1611" amazed and|strong="G2532" began to|strong="G3004" praise|strong="G1392" God|strong="G2316". They|strong="G2532" were|strong="G3588" filled|strong="G4130" with|strong="G2316" great respect|strong="G5401" for|strong="G3754" God’s|strong="G2316" power. They|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", “Today|strong="G4594" we|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G3708" amazing things|strong="G3861"!”
27 After|strong="G3326" this|strong="G3778" Jesus|strong="G0846" went|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" and|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G2300" a|strong="G3004" tax|strong="G5057" collector|strong="G5057" sitting|strong="G2521" at|strong="G1909" his|strong="G0846" place|strong="G1473" for|strong="G1909" collecting taxes. His|strong="G0846" name|strong="G3686" was|strong="G3588" Levi|strong="G3018". Jesus|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G0846", “Follow|strong="G0190" me|strong="G3004"!”
28 Levi got|strong="G0450" up|strong="G0450", left|strong="G2641" everything|strong="G3956", and|strong="G2532" followed|strong="G0190" Jesus|strong="G0846".
29 Then|strong="G2532" Levi|strong="G3018" gave|strong="G4160" a|strong="G1510" big|strong="G3173" dinner at|strong="G1722" his|strong="G0846" house|strong="G3614" for|strong="G1722" Jesus|strong="G0846". At|strong="G1722" the|strong="G3588" table there|strong="G1510" were|strong="G1510" many|strong="G4183" tax|strong="G5057" collectors|strong="G5057" and|strong="G2532" some|strong="G3588" other|strong="G0243" people|strong="G3793" too|strong="G2532".
30 But|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330" and|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" taught the|strong="G3588" law for|strong="G1223" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330" began to|strong="G4314" complain|strong="G1111" to|strong="G4314" the|strong="G3588" followers of|strong="G1223" Jesus|strong="G0846", “Why|strong="G5101" do|strong="G3004" you|strong="G3004" eat|strong="G2068" and|strong="G2532" drink|strong="G4095" with|strong="G3326" tax|strong="G5057" collectors|strong="G5057" and|strong="G2532" other|strong="G0846" sinners|strong="G0268"?”
31 Jesus|strong="G2424" answered|strong="G0611" them|strong="G0846", “It|strong="G0846" is|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" sick|strong="G2560" people|strong="G0846" who|strong="G3588" need|strong="G5532" a|strong="G2192" doctor, not|strong="G3756" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" healthy.
32 I|strong="G0235" have|strong="G0268" not|strong="G3756" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" ask good people to|strong="G1519" change. I|strong="G0235" have|strong="G0268" come|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" ask sinners|strong="G0268" to|strong="G1519" change the|strong="G1519" way they|strong="G2064" live.”
33 They|strong="G0846" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G4314" Jesus|strong="G0846", “John’s|strong="G2491" followers often|strong="G4437" fast|strong="G3522" and|strong="G2532" pray|strong="G1162", the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G0846" as|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" followers of|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" Pharisees|strong="G5330". But|strong="G1161" your|strong="G4674" followers eat|strong="G2068" and|strong="G2532" drink|strong="G4095" all|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" time.”
34 Jesus|strong="G2424" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", “At|strong="G1722" a|strong="G1510" wedding|strong="G3567" you|strong="G3739" can’t ask|strong="G3004" the|strong="G3588" friends of|strong="G5207" the|strong="G3588" bridegroom|strong="G3566" to|strong="G4314" be|strong="G1510" sad and|strong="G1161" fast|strong="G3522" while|strong="G1722" he|strong="G0846" is|strong="G1510" still with|strong="G3326" them|strong="G0846".
35 But|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3588" time|strong="G2250" will|strong="G2250" come|strong="G2064" when|strong="G3752" the|strong="G3588" groom will|strong="G2250" be|strong="G2532" taken|strong="G0522" away|strong="G0522" from|strong="G0575" them|strong="G0846". That|strong="G3754" would|strong="G3762" ruin the|strong="G3588" new|strong="G2537" coat|strong="G2440", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" cloth|strong="G1915" from|strong="G0575" the|strong="G3588" new|strong="G2537" coat|strong="G2440" would|strong="G3762" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" same|strong="G0846" as|strong="G1438" the|strong="G3588" old|strong="G3820" cloth|strong="G1915".
37 Also|strong="G2532", no|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" ever pours|strong="G0906" new|strong="G3501" wine|strong="G3631" into|strong="G1519" old|strong="G3820" wineskins|strong="G0779". The|strong="G3588" new|strong="G3501" wine|strong="G3631" would|strong="G3762" break|strong="G4486" them|strong="G0846". The|strong="G3588" wine|strong="G3631" would|strong="G3762" spill out|strong="G0906", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G3588" wineskins|strong="G0779" would|strong="G3762" be|strong="G2532" ruined|strong="G0622".
38 You|strong="G1519" always put|strong="G0992" new|strong="G2537" wine|strong="G3631" into|strong="G1519" new|strong="G2537" wineskins|strong="G0779".
39 No|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" who|strong="G3588" drinks|strong="G4095" old|strong="G3820" wine wants|strong="G2309" new|strong="G3501" wine. They|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘The|strong="G3588" old|strong="G3820" wine is|strong="G1510" just|strong="G2532" fine.’”
