That|strong="G3739" kind of|strong="G1223" land|strong="G1093" has|strong="G2316" God’s|strong="G2316" blessing|strong="G2129".
8 But|strong="G1161" other|strong="G1161" people|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3739" like land that|strong="G3739" grows only|strong="G2532" thorns|strong="G0173" and|strong="G2532" weeds. It|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3739" worthless and|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1519" danger of|strong="G1519" being cursed|strong="G2671" by|strong="G2532" God. It|strong="G1161" will|strong="G3739" be|strong="G2532" destroyed by|strong="G2532" fire.
9 Dear|strong="G0027" friends, I|strong="G2532" am|strong="G2192" not|strong="G2532" saying|strong="G2980" this|strong="G3779" because|strong="G1161" I|strong="G2532" think it|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3588" happening to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210". We|strong="G1487" really expect that|strong="G3982" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2532" do|strong="G2192" better|strong="G2909"—that|strong="G3982" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2532" do|strong="G2192" the|strong="G3588" good things|strong="G2980" that|strong="G3982" will|strong="G2532" result in|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2192" salvation|strong="G4991".
10 God|strong="G2316" is|strong="G2316" fair, and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" remember all|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3588" work|strong="G2041" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G2532" done|strong="G2041". He|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" remember that|strong="G3739" you|strong="G5210" showed your|strong="G2532" love|strong="G0026" to|strong="G1519" him|strong="G0846" by|strong="G2532" helping his|strong="G0846" people|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3739" you|strong="G5210" continue|strong="G2532" to|strong="G1519" help them|strong="G0846".

12 We|strong="G2532" don’t|strong="G3361" want you|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2443" be|strong="G1096" lazy. We|strong="G2532" want you|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2443" be|strong="G1096" like those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588", because|strong="G1223" of|strong="G1223" their|strong="G2532" faith|strong="G4102" and|strong="G2532" patience|strong="G3115", will|strong="G2532" get|strong="G1096" what|strong="G3588" God has|strong="G4102" promised|strong="G1860".
13 God|strong="G2316" made|strong="G1861" a|strong="G2192" promise|strong="G1861" to|strong="G2596" Abraham|strong="G0011". And|strong="G2316" there|strong="G2596" is|strong="G2316" no|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" greater|strong="G3173" than|strong="G3173" God|strong="G2316", so|strong="G1063" he|strong="G2192" made|strong="G1861" the|strong="G3588" promise|strong="G1861" with|strong="G2316" an|strong="G2192" oath|strong="G3660" in|strong="G2596" his|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" name—an|strong="G2192" oath|strong="G3660" that|strong="G2316" he|strong="G2192" would|strong="G3762" do|strong="G2192" what|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2192" promised|strong="G1861".
14 He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", “I|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" surely|strong="G4129" bless|strong="G2127" you|strong="G4771". I|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" give|strong="G3004" you|strong="G4771" many descendants.”
15 Abraham|strong="G2013" waited|strong="G3114" patiently|strong="G3114" for|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3779" to|strong="G2532" happen, and|strong="G2532" later he|strong="G2532" received what|strong="G3588" God promised|strong="G1860".
16 People|strong="G0444" always|strong="G3956" use the|strong="G3956" name of|strong="G3956" someone|strong="G0444" greater|strong="G3173" than|strong="G3173" themselves|strong="G0846" to|strong="G1519" make|strong="G3660" a|strong="G2532" promise with|strong="G2596" an|strong="G2532" oath|strong="G3727". The|strong="G3956" oath|strong="G3727" proves that|strong="G3956" what|strong="G3588" they|strong="G0846" say is|strong="G0444" true, and|strong="G2532" there|strong="G2596" is|strong="G0444" no more|strong="G3173" arguing about|strong="G2596" it|strong="G0846".
17 God|strong="G2316" wanted|strong="G1014" to|strong="G1722" prove that|strong="G3739" his|strong="G0846" promise|strong="G1860" was|strong="G3739" true. He|strong="G0846" wanted|strong="G1014" to|strong="G1722" prove this|strong="G3588" to|strong="G1722" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" would|strong="G0846" get what|strong="G3739" he|strong="G0846" promised|strong="G1860". He|strong="G0846" wanted|strong="G1014" them|strong="G0846" to|strong="G1722" understand clearly that|strong="G3739" his|strong="G0846" purposes never change. So|strong="G3739" God|strong="G2316" said something would|strong="G0846" happen, and|strong="G2316" he|strong="G0846" proved what|strong="G3739" he|strong="G0846" said by|strong="G1722" adding an|strong="G3739" oath|strong="G3727".
18 These|strong="G3739" two|strong="G1417" things|strong="G3739" cannot|strong="G0102" change: God|strong="G2316" cannot|strong="G0102" lie|strong="G5574" when|strong="G1722" he|strong="G3739" says something, and|strong="G2316" he|strong="G3739" cannot|strong="G0102" lie|strong="G5574" when|strong="G1722" he|strong="G3739" makes an|strong="G2192" oath.
19 This|strong="G3588" hope is|strong="G3739" like|strong="G5613" an|strong="G2192" anchor|strong="G0045" for|strong="G1519" us|strong="G1519". It|strong="G3739" is|strong="G3739" strong and|strong="G2532" sure|strong="G0804" and|strong="G2532" keeps us|strong="G1519" safe. It|strong="G3739" goes behind the|strong="G3588" curtain|strong="G2665".
20 Jesus|strong="G2424" has|strong="G1096" already entered|strong="G1525" there|strong="G3699" and|strong="G0165" opened the|strong="G3588" way|strong="G2596" for|strong="G1519" us|strong="G1519". He|strong="G2424" has|strong="G1096" become|strong="G1096" the|strong="G3588" high|strong="G0749" priest|strong="G0749" forever|strong="G0165", just|strong="G2596" like|strong="G2596" Melchizedek|strong="G3198".
