1 After|strong="H0310" Moses|strong="H4872" and|strong="H0935" Aaron|strong="H0175" talked to|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0853" people|strong="H5971", they|strong="H3068" went|strong="H0935" to|strong="H0413" Pharaoh|strong="H6547" and|strong="H0935" said|strong="H0559", “The|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068", the|strong="H0853" God|strong="H0430" of|strong="H0430" Israel|strong="H3478", says|strong="H0559", ‘Let|strong="H7971" my|strong="H3068" people|strong="H5971" go|strong="H0935" into|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0853" desert|strong="H4057" so|strong="H3541" that|strong="H3068" they|strong="H3068" can|strong="H0935" have|strong="H3068" a|strong="H0935" festival|strong="H2287" to|strong="H0413" honor me|strong="H0413".’”
2 But|strong="H3808" Pharaoh|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559", “Who|strong="H0834" is|strong="H0834" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068"? Why|strong="H0834" should|strong="H3068" I|strong="H0834" obey|strong="H8085" him|strong="H7971"? 3 Then|strong="H0559" Aaron and|strong="H3068" Moses|strong="H0559" said|strong="H0559", “The|strong="H0559" God|strong="H0430" of|strong="H0430" the|strong="H0559" Hebrews|strong="H5680" has|strong="H3068" talked with|strong="H3068" us|strong="H4994". So|strong="H6435" we|strong="H3117" beg|strong="H4994" you|strong="H5921" to|strong="H0559" let|strong="H4994" us|strong="H4994" travel three|strong="H7969" days|strong="H3117" into|strong="H5921" the|strong="H0559" desert|strong="H4057". If|strong="H0176" we|strong="H3117" don’t do|strong="H4994" this|strong="H3068", he|strong="H3117" might|strong="H6435" become angry and|strong="H3068" destroy|strong="H2719" us|strong="H4994". He|strong="H3117" might|strong="H6435" make|strong="H6293" us|strong="H4994" die|strong="H2719" from|strong="H5921" sickness or|strong="H0176" war|strong="H2719".”
4 But|strong="H4428" Pharaoh said|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0413" them|strong="H0413", “Moses|strong="H4872" and|strong="H4872" Aaron|strong="H0175", you|strong="H0853" are|strong="H4100" bothering the|strong="H0853" workers. Let them|strong="H0413" do|strong="H4100" their|strong="H0413" work|strong="H4639". Go back|strong="H0413" to|strong="H0413" your|strong="H0413" own work|strong="H4639"!
5 There are|strong="H0776" very|strong="H7227" many|strong="H7227" workers, and|strong="H0776" you|strong="H0853" are|strong="H0776" keeping them|strong="H0853" from|strong="H0776" doing their|strong="H6258" jobs.”
6 That|strong="H3117" same|strong="H1931" day|strong="H3117" Pharaoh|strong="H6547" gave|strong="H6680" a|strong="H6680" command|strong="H6680" to|strong="H0559" the|strong="H0853" slave masters|strong="H5065" and|strong="H3117" Hebrew foremen|strong="H7860".
7 He|strong="H3808" said, “You|strong="H5414" have|strong="H5414" always given|strong="H5414" the|strong="H5414" people|strong="H5971" straw|strong="H8401" to|strong="H5414" use to|strong="H5414" make|strong="H5414" bricks|strong="H3843". But|strong="H3808" now|strong="H5414", tell them|strong="H5414" they|strong="H1992" have|strong="H5414" to|strong="H5414" go and|strong="H3254" find|strong="H5414" their|strong="H5414" own straw|strong="H8401" to|strong="H5414" make|strong="H5414" bricks|strong="H3843".
8 But|strong="H3588" they|strong="H1992" must|strong="H0853" still|strong="H0559" make|strong="H7760" the|strong="H0853" same|strong="H3651" number of|strong="H0430" bricks|strong="H3843" as|strong="H0834" they|strong="H1992" did|strong="H6213" before|strong="H4480". They|strong="H1992" have|strong="H0834" gotten lazy|strong="H7503". That|strong="H0834" is|strong="H0834" why|strong="H0834" they|strong="H1992" are|strong="H0834" asking|strong="H0559" me|strong="H5921" to|strong="H0559" let|strong="H7503" them|strong="H1992" go|strong="H7503". They|strong="H1992" don’t|strong="H3808" have|strong="H0834" enough|strong="H6213" work|strong="H7760" to|strong="H0559" do|strong="H6213". That|strong="H0834" is|strong="H0834" why|strong="H0834" they|strong="H1992" asked|strong="H0559" me|strong="H5921" to|strong="H0559" let|strong="H7503" them|strong="H1992" make|strong="H7760" sacrifices|strong="H2076" to|strong="H0559" their|strong="H1992" God|strong="H0430".
9 So|strong="H6213" make|strong="H6213" these people|strong="H0376" work|strong="H5656" harder. Keep|strong="H6213" them|strong="H5921" busy. Then|strong="H6213" they|strong="H5921" will|strong="H0376" not|strong="H0408" have|strong="H0376" enough|strong="H6213" time to|strong="H5921" listen to|strong="H5921" the|strong="H5921" lies|strong="H8267" of|strong="H0376" Moses.”
10 So|strong="H3541" the|strong="H0559" Egyptian slave masters|strong="H5065" and|strong="H6547" the|strong="H0559" Hebrew foremen|strong="H7860" went|strong="H3318" to|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" Israelites and|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559", “Pharaoh|strong="H6547" has|strong="H0369" decided|strong="H0559" that|strong="H0559" he|strong="H5414" will|strong="H0369" not|strong="H0369" give|strong="H5414" you|strong="H5414" straw|strong="H8401" for|strong="H0413" your|strong="H5414" bricks.
11 You|strong="H0859" must|strong="H3947" go and|strong="H1697" get|strong="H3947" the|strong="H0834" straw|strong="H8401" for|strong="H3588" yourselves|strong="H0859". So|strong="H3947" go and|strong="H1697" find|strong="H4672" straw|strong="H8401", but|strong="H3588" you|strong="H0859" must|strong="H3947" still make|strong="H3588" as|strong="H0834" many bricks as|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0859" made|strong="H0834" before.”
12 So|strong="H6327" the|strong="H3605" people|strong="H5971" went everywhere|strong="H3605" in|strong="H0776" Egypt|strong="H4714" looking for|strong="H0776" straw|strong="H8401".
13 The|strong="H0559" slave masters|strong="H5065" forced the|strong="H0559" people|strong="H0834" to|strong="H0559" work|strong="H4639" even harder. They|strong="H0834" forced the|strong="H0559" people|strong="H0834" to|strong="H0559" make|strong="H3615" as|strong="H0834" many bricks as|strong="H0834" before|strong="H3117".
14 The|strong="H0559" Egyptian slave masters|strong="H5065" had|strong="H0834" chosen the|strong="H0559" Hebrew foremen|strong="H7860" and|strong="H1121" had|strong="H0834" made|strong="H7760" them|strong="H5921" responsible for|strong="H5921" the|strong="H0559" work|strong="H7760" the|strong="H0559" people|strong="H1121" did|strong="H0834". The|strong="H0559" Egyptian slave masters|strong="H5065" beat|strong="H5221" these|strong="H0834" foremen|strong="H7860" and|strong="H1121" said|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0559" them|strong="H5921", “Why|strong="H4069" aren’t you|strong="H0834" making as|strong="H0834" many bricks|strong="H3835" as|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0834" made|strong="H7760" in|strong="H5921" the|strong="H0559" past|strong="H8543"? If|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0834" could|strong="H1571" do it|strong="H7760" then|strong="H1571", you|strong="H0834" can|strong="H0834" do it|strong="H7760" now|strong="H3117"!”
15 Then|strong="H0935" the|strong="H0559" Hebrew foremen|strong="H7860" went|strong="H0935" to|strong="H0413" Pharaoh|strong="H6547". They|strong="H0559" complained and|strong="H1121" said|strong="H0559", “We|strong="H6213" are|strong="H4100" your|strong="H0935" servants|strong="H5650". Why|strong="H4100" are|strong="H4100" you|strong="H0935" treating us|strong="H0413" like|strong="H3478" this|strong="H3541"?
16 You|strong="H5414" give|strong="H5414" us|strong="H5414" no|strong="H0369" straw|strong="H8401", but|strong="H0369" you|strong="H5414" tell|strong="H0559" us|strong="H5414" to|strong="H0559" make|strong="H5414" as|strong="H5414" many bricks|strong="H3843" as|strong="H5414" before. And|strong="H5650" now|strong="H2009" our|strong="H5414" masters are|strong="H0369" beating|strong="H5221" us|strong="H5414". Your|strong="H5414" people|strong="H5971" are|strong="H0369" wrong|strong="H2398" for|strong="H5414" doing|strong="H6213" this|strong="H2009".”
17 Pharaoh answered|strong="H0559", “You|strong="H0859" are|strong="H3068" lazy|strong="H7503", and|strong="H3068" you|strong="H0859" don’t want to|strong="H0559" work! That|strong="H3651" is|strong="H3068" why|strong="H3651" you|strong="H0859" ask|strong="H0559" me|strong="H5921" to|strong="H0559" let|strong="H7503" you|strong="H0859" go|strong="H7503". And|strong="H3068" that|strong="H3651" is|strong="H3068" why|strong="H3651" you|strong="H0859" want to|strong="H0559" leave|strong="H7503" here|strong="H5921" and|strong="H3068" make sacrifices|strong="H2076" to|strong="H0559" the|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068".
18 Now|strong="H6258", go back to|strong="H5414" work|strong="H5647"! We|strong="H6258" will|strong="H5414" not|strong="H3808" give|strong="H5414" you|strong="H5414" any|strong="H5414" straw|strong="H8401". And|strong="H5647" you|strong="H5414" must|strong="H3808" still make|strong="H5414" as|strong="H5414" many bricks|strong="H3843" as|strong="H5414" you|strong="H5414" did|strong="H3808" before|strong="H3808".”
19 The|strong="H0853" Hebrew foremen|strong="H7860" knew they|strong="H3117" were|strong="H3478" in|strong="H3478" trouble|strong="H7451", because|strong="H3117" the|strong="H0853" Pharaoh had|strong="H3478" told|strong="H0559" them|strong="H0853", “You|strong="H3117" must|strong="H0853" still|strong="H0559" make|strong="H7200" as|strong="H1697" many bricks|strong="H3843" as|strong="H1697" you|strong="H3117" made before|strong="H3808".”
20 When|strong="H3318" they|strong="H0175" were|strong="H0175" leaving|strong="H3318" the|strong="H0853" meeting with|strong="H3318" Pharaoh|strong="H6547", they|strong="H0175" passed Moses|strong="H4872" and|strong="H4872" Aaron|strong="H0175". Moses|strong="H4872" and|strong="H4872" Aaron|strong="H0175" were|strong="H0175" waiting|strong="H5324" for|strong="H3318" them|strong="H0853".
21 So|strong="H5414" they|strong="H0834" said|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0413" Moses|strong="H0559" and|strong="H3068" Aaron, “May|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068" judge|strong="H8199" and|strong="H3068" punish you|strong="H0834" for|strong="H5921" what|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0834" did|strong="H0834"! You|strong="H0834" made|strong="H5414" Pharaoh|strong="H6547" and|strong="H3068" his|strong="H5414" rulers|strong="H8199" hate us|strong="H5414". You|strong="H0834" have|strong="H0834" given|strong="H5414" them|strong="H0413" an|strong="H5414" excuse to|strong="H0413" kill|strong="H2026" us|strong="H5414".”
22 Then|strong="H2088" Moses|strong="H4872" prayed|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068" and|strong="H3068" said|strong="H0559", “Lord|strong="H3068", why|strong="H4100" have|strong="H3068" you|strong="H7971" done this|strong="H2088" terrible thing|strong="H2088" to|strong="H0413" your|strong="H3068" people|strong="H5971"? Why|strong="H4100" did|strong="H4100" you|strong="H7971" send|strong="H7971" me|strong="H0413" here|strong="H2088"?
23 I|strong="H2088" went|strong="H0935" to|strong="H0413" Pharaoh|strong="H6547" and|strong="H0935" said|strong="H1696" what|strong="H2088" you|strong="H0935" told|strong="H1696" me|strong="H0413" to|strong="H0413" say|strong="H1696". But|strong="H3808" since|strong="H0227" that|strong="H2088" time|strong="H0227" he|strong="H3808" has|strong="H2088" made|strong="H1696" the|strong="H0853" people|strong="H5971" suffer, and|strong="H0935" you|strong="H0935" have|strong="H3808" done nothing|strong="H3808" to|strong="H0413" help|strong="H5971" them|strong="H0413"!”
