If|strong="H0518" the|strong="H5221" man|strong="H4191" kills|strong="H5221" the|strong="H5221" animal or|strong="H0518" sells it|strong="H0518", then|strong="H5221" he|strong="H0518" cannot|strong="H0369" give it|strong="H0518" back. So|strong="H4191" he|strong="H0518" must|strong="H4191" pay five bulls for|strong="H0518" the|strong="H5221" one|strong="H0369" he|strong="H0518" stole. If|strong="H3588" the|strong="H0853" animal wanders into|strong="H3318" another person’s field|strong="H7704" or|strong="H0176" vineyard, then|strong="H3318" the|strong="H0853" owner must|strong="H0853" pay|strong="H7999". 6 “A|strong="H3588" man|strong="H0376" might start a|strong="H3588" fire to|strong="H0413" burn thornbushes on|strong="H0413" his|strong="H8104" field. But|strong="H3588" if|strong="H0518" the|strong="H3588" fire grows and|strong="H1004" burns his|strong="H8104" neighbor’s|strong="H7453" crops or|strong="H0176" the|strong="H3588" grain growing on|strong="H0413" the|strong="H3588" neighbor’s|strong="H7453" field, the|strong="H3588" man|strong="H0376" who|strong="H0376" started the|strong="H3588" fire must|strong="H0518" pay|strong="H5414" for|strong="H3588" what|strong="H3588" he|strong="H3588" burned.
7 “Someone might give some|strong="H3027" money or|strong="H0518" tools to|strong="H0413" a|strong="H0518" neighbor|strong="H7453" for|strong="H0413" safekeeping. What should|strong="H0518" you|strong="H0518" do|strong="H0518" if|strong="H0518" someone steals those|strong="H7126" things|strong="H3808" from|strong="H3027" the|strong="H0413" neighbor’s|strong="H7453" house|strong="H1004"? 8 If|strong="H3588" you|strong="H0834" don’t find the|strong="H3605" thief, then|strong="H2088" the|strong="H3605" owner of|strong="H0430" the|strong="H3605" house must go|strong="H0935" before|strong="H5704" the|strong="H3605" judges|strong="H0430" who|strong="H0834" will|strong="H0430" decide if|strong="H3588" that|strong="H0834" person|strong="H0935" is|strong="H0834" guilty|strong="H7561".
9 “What|strong="H3588" should|strong="H0376" you|strong="H3588" do|strong="H8104" if|strong="H3588" two men|strong="H0376" disagree about|strong="H0413" a|strong="H3588" bull|strong="H7794" or|strong="H0176" a|strong="H3588" donkey|strong="H2543" or|strong="H0176" sheep|strong="H7716" or|strong="H0176" clothing or|strong="H0176" something|strong="H8104" that|strong="H3588" is|strong="H0369" lost? One|strong="H0376" man|strong="H0376" says, ‘This|strong="H3588" is|strong="H0369" mine,’ and|strong="H0376" the|strong="H3605" other|strong="H7453" says, ‘No|strong="H0369", it|strong="H5414" is|strong="H0369" mine.’ Both|strong="H3605" men|strong="H0376" should|strong="H0376" go before|strong="H0413" the|strong="H3605" judges who|strong="H3605" will|strong="H0376" decide|strong="H7200" who|strong="H3605" is|strong="H0369" guilty. 10 “A|strong="H1961" man|strong="H1167" might|strong="H3068" ask his|strong="H3068" neighbor|strong="H7453" to|strong="H1961" take|strong="H3947" care|strong="H3027" of|strong="H3068" an|strong="H1961" animal|strong="H1961" for|strong="H3027" a|strong="H1961" short time|strong="H1961". It|strong="H0518" might|strong="H3068" be|strong="H1961" a|strong="H1961" donkey, a|strong="H1961" bull, or|strong="H0518" a|strong="H1961" sheep. If|strong="H0518" this|strong="H0518" is|strong="H0518" true, the|strong="H0518" neighbor will|strong="H0518" promise to|strong="H5973" the|strong="H0518" LORD that|strong="H0518" he|strong="H0518" did not|strong="H0518" steal|strong="H1589" it|strong="H0518". The|strong="H0518" owner|strong="H1167" of|strong="H1167" the|strong="H0518" animal must|strong="H0518" accept this|strong="H0518" promise. The|strong="H0518" neighbor does|strong="H0518" not|strong="H0518" have|strong="H0518" to|strong="H5973" pay|strong="H7999" the|strong="H0518" owner|strong="H1167" for|strong="H0518" the|strong="H0518" animal.
12 But|strong="H0518" if|strong="H0518" the|strong="H0935" neighbor stole the|strong="H0935" animal|strong="H2966", then|strong="H0935" he|strong="H0518" must|strong="H0518" pay|strong="H7999" the|strong="H0935" owner for|strong="H0518" the|strong="H0935" animal|strong="H2966".
13 If|strong="H3588" wild animals killed|strong="H4191" the|strong="H3588" animal, then|strong="H3588" the|strong="H3588" neighbor|strong="H7453" should|strong="H0376" bring|strong="H4191" the|strong="H3588" body|strong="H4191" as|strong="H0376" proof. The|strong="H3588" neighbor|strong="H7453" will|strong="H0376" not|strong="H0369" have|strong="H0369" to|strong="H4191" pay|strong="H7999" the|strong="H3588" owner|strong="H1167" for|strong="H3588" the|strong="H3588" animal that|strong="H3588" was|strong="H0369" killed|strong="H4191".
14 “If|strong="H0518" a|strong="H0518" man|strong="H7916" borrows an|strong="H0935" animal from|strong="H0935" his|strong="H0935" neighbor, and|strong="H0935" the|strong="H0935" animal is|strong="H1931" hurt or|strong="H0518" dies, then|strong="H0935" the|strong="H0935" neighbor must|strong="H0518" pay|strong="H7999" the|strong="H0935" owner|strong="H1167" for|strong="H0518" the|strong="H0935" animal. The|strong="H0935" neighbor is|strong="H1931" responsible, because|strong="H5973" the|strong="H0935" owner|strong="H1167" was|strong="H1931" not|strong="H3808" there himself|strong="H1931".
15 But|strong="H3588" if|strong="H3588" the|strong="H0834" owner was|strong="H0834" there|strong="H0834", then|strong="H3588" the|strong="H0834" neighbor does|strong="H3808" not|strong="H3808" have|strong="H0834" to|strong="H0376" pay|strong="H4117". Or|strong="H3808" if|strong="H3588" the|strong="H0834" neighbor was|strong="H0834" paying money to|strong="H0376" use the|strong="H0834" animal for|strong="H3588" work, he|strong="H0834" will|strong="H0834" not|strong="H3808" have|strong="H0834" to|strong="H0376" pay|strong="H4117" if|strong="H3588" the|strong="H0834" animal dies or|strong="H3808" is|strong="H0834" hurt. The|strong="H0834" money he|strong="H0834" paid to|strong="H0376" use the|strong="H0834" animal will|strong="H0834" be|strong="H3808" enough payment.

18 “You|strong="H3605" must|strong="H4191" not allow any|strong="H3605" woman to|strong="H4191" do|strong="H3605" evil magic. If she|strong="H7901" does magic, you|strong="H3605" must|strong="H4191" not let her|strong="H3605" live.
19 “You|strong="H2076" must not|strong="H1115" allow anyone to|strong="H3068" have|strong="H3068" sexual relations with|strong="H3068" an|strong="H2076" animal. If this|strong="H3068" happens, that|strong="H3068" person must be|strong="H3068" killed.
20 “Whoever makes a|strong="H1961" sacrifice to|strong="H1961" a|strong="H1961" false god|strong="H3808" should|strong="H3588" be|strong="H1961" destroyed. The|strong="H3588" LORD is|strong="H0776" the|strong="H3588" only one|strong="H3808" you|strong="H3588" should|strong="H3588" make|strong="H3588" sacrifices to|strong="H1961".
21 “Remember, in|strong="H3808" the|strong="H3605" past you|strong="H3605" were foreigners in|strong="H3808" the|strong="H3605" land of|strong="H3605" Egypt. So|strong="H3808" you|strong="H3605" should not|strong="H3808" cheat or|strong="H3808" hurt|strong="H6031" anyone|strong="H3605" who|strong="H3605" is|strong="H3605" a|strong="H3808" foreigner in|strong="H3808" your|strong="H3605" land.
22 “You|strong="H3588" must|strong="H0853" never|strong="H0518" do|strong="H0518" anything bad to|strong="H0413" women whose|strong="H0518" husbands are dead or|strong="H0518" to|strong="H0413" orphans.
23 If|strong="H1961" you|strong="H0853" do anything wrong to|strong="H1961" these widows|strong="H0490" or|strong="H1121" orphans|strong="H3490", I|strong="H1121" will|strong="H1961" know it|strong="H1961". I|strong="H1121" will|strong="H1961" hear about|strong="H1961" their|strong="H1961" suffering.
24 And|strong="H3701" I|strong="H0518" will|strong="H1961" be|strong="H1961" very angry. I|strong="H0518" will|strong="H1961" kill you|strong="H0518" with|strong="H5973" a|strong="H1961" sword. Then|strong="H1961" your|strong="H5921" wives will|strong="H1961" become|strong="H1961" widows|strong="H5971", and|strong="H3701" your|strong="H5921" children will|strong="H1961" become|strong="H1961" orphans.
25 “If|strong="H0518" you|strong="H0518" loan money to|strong="H0935" any of|strong="H0935" my|strong="H7725" people|strong="H0518", that|strong="H5704" is|strong="H0935", the|strong="H0935" poor among you|strong="H0518", don’t be|strong="H7725" like|strong="H5704" a|strong="H0518" moneylender and|strong="H0935" charge them|strong="H7725" interest.
26 You|strong="H3588" might take|strong="H1961" their|strong="H3588" cloak|strong="H8071" to|strong="H0413" make|strong="H8085" sure they|strong="H3588" pay|strong="H8085" the|strong="H3588" money back|strong="H0413", but|strong="H3588" you|strong="H3588" must give|strong="H8085" that|strong="H3588" cloak|strong="H8071" back|strong="H0413" to|strong="H0413" them|strong="H0413" before|strong="H0413" sunset.
27 That|strong="H3808" cloak might be|strong="H3808" their|strong="H3808" only protection against the|strong="H3808" cold when they|strong="H3808" lie down to|strong="H0430" sleep. If|strong="H7043" they|strong="H3808" call to|strong="H0430" me|strong="H3808" for|strong="H0430" help|strong="H5971", I|strong="H3808" will|strong="H0430" listen because I|strong="H3808" am|strong="H0430" kind.
28 “You|strong="H5414" must|strong="H1121" not|strong="H3808" curse God|strong="H3808" or|strong="H3808" the|strong="H5414" leaders of|strong="H1121" your|strong="H5414" people|strong="H1121".
29 “At|strong="H3117" harvest time|strong="H3117" you|strong="H5414" should|strong="H6213" give|strong="H5414" me|strong="H5414" the|strong="H5414" first|strong="H3117" grain and|strong="H3117" the|strong="H5414" first|strong="H3117" juice from|strong="H1961" your|strong="H5414" fruit. Don’t wait until late in|strong="H3117" the|strong="H5414" year|strong="H3117".
30 Also|strong="H0853", give|strong="H0398" me|strong="H7993" your|strong="H0398" firstborn cattle and|strong="H0398" sheep. Let|strong="H1961" the|strong="H0853" firstborn stay with|strong="H0376" its|strong="H0853" mother for|strong="H3808" seven days. Then|strong="H1961" on|strong="H1961" the|strong="H0853" eighth day, give|strong="H0398" him|strong="H0853" to|strong="H1961" me|strong="H7993".
31 “You are my special people. So don’t eat the meat from something that was killed by wild animals. Let the dogs eat that dead animal.
