In|strong="H0413" addition|strong="H0413" to|strong="H0413" that|strong="H0834" agreement, he|strong="H0834" also|strong="H3068" commanded|strong="H0559" Moses|strong="H4872" to|strong="H0413" make|strong="H6213" another agreement with|strong="H0413" them|strong="H0413" while|strong="H0834" they|strong="H0834" were|strong="H0834" in|strong="H0413" Moab. This|strong="H0834" is|strong="H0834" that|strong="H0834" agreement.
2 Moses called together all|strong="H1419" the|strong="H0834" Israelites. 3 You|strong="H5414" saw|strong="H7200" the|strong="H8085" great troubles|strong="H7200" he|strong="H5704" gave|strong="H5414" them|strong="H5414". You|strong="H5414" saw|strong="H7200" the|strong="H8085" miracles and|strong="H3068" amazing things|strong="H0241" he|strong="H5704" did|strong="H3808".
4 But|strong="H3808" even|strong="H3808" today, you|strong="H5921" still don’t|strong="H3808" understand what|strong="H5921" happened. The|strong="H0853" LORD has|strong="H7272" not|strong="H3808" let|strong="H3808" you|strong="H5921" really understand what|strong="H5921" you|strong="H5921" saw and|strong="H8141" heard.
5 He|strong="H3588" led you|strong="H3588" through|strong="H3588" the|strong="H3588" desert for|strong="H3588" 40 years, and|strong="H3068" in|strong="H0430" all|strong="H0398" that|strong="H3588" time, your|strong="H3068" clothes and|strong="H3068" sandals did|strong="H3808" not|strong="H3808" wear out|strong="H3045".
6 You|strong="H0935" did not|strong="H2088" have|strong="H4428" any|strong="H5221" food with|strong="H0413" you|strong="H0935". You|strong="H0935" did not|strong="H2088" have|strong="H4428" any|strong="H5221" wine or|strong="H4421" anything else to|strong="H0413" drink. 7 “You|strong="H5414" came to|strong="H5414" this place|strong="H5414", and|strong="H0776" King Sihon of|strong="H0776" Heshbon and|strong="H0776" King Og of|strong="H0776" Bashan came out|strong="H0853" to|strong="H5414" fight against us|strong="H5414". But|strong="H3947" we|strong="H0776" defeated them|strong="H5414".
8 Then|strong="H0853" we|strong="H0834" took|strong="H0853" their|strong="H3605" land and|strong="H1697" gave|strong="H6213" it|strong="H6213" to|strong="H8104" the|strong="H3605" people|strong="H0834" in|strong="H1697" the|strong="H3605" tribes of|strong="H1697" Reuben and|strong="H1697" Gad and|strong="H1697" to|strong="H8104" half the|strong="H3605" tribe of|strong="H1697" Manasseh.

11 Your|strong="H3068" wives and|strong="H3068" children are|strong="H0834" here and|strong="H3068" also|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0834" foreigners living among|strong="H5973" you|strong="H0834"—the|strong="H0834" people|strong="H0834" who|strong="H0834" cut|strong="H3772" your|strong="H3068" wood and|strong="H3068" bring you|strong="H0834" water.
12 You|strong="H0834" are|strong="H0834" all|strong="H3117" here to|strong="H1696" enter into|strong="H1961" an|strong="H1961" agreement with|strong="H1696" the|strong="H0853" LORD your|strong="H0834" God|strong="H0430". The|strong="H0853" LORD your|strong="H0834" God|strong="H0430" is|strong="H0834" making this|strong="H1931" agreement with|strong="H1696" you|strong="H0834" today|strong="H3117".
13 With|strong="H0854" this|strong="H2063" agreement|strong="H1285" he|strong="H3808" is|strong="H0905" making|strong="H3772" you|strong="H3808" his|strong="H3808" own special people|strong="H3808", and|strong="H1285" he|strong="H3808" himself|strong="H0905" will|strong="H3808" become your|strong="H3808" God|strong="H3808". He|strong="H3808" told you|strong="H3808" this|strong="H2063". He|strong="H3808" promised this|strong="H2063" to|strong="H0854" your|strong="H3808" ancestors—Abraham, Isaac, and|strong="H1285" Jacob.
14 The|strong="H6440" LORD|strong="H3068" is|strong="H0369" making|strong="H0369" this|strong="H3588" agreement with|strong="H5973" its|strong="H5975" promises with|strong="H5973" you|strong="H0834" people|strong="H0834", but|strong="H3588" not|strong="H0369" only with|strong="H5973" you|strong="H0834".

17 You|strong="H0834" saw their|strong="H3068" hated things|strong="H5973"—the|strong="H0853" idols they|strong="H1992" had|strong="H3068" made|strong="H6509" from|strong="H0376" wood, stone|strong="H0834", silver, and|strong="H3068" gold.
18 Be|strong="H1961" sure that|strong="H3588" there|strong="H1961" is|strong="H3820" no man|strong="H6771", woman, family or|strong="H8085" tribe here|strong="H2063" today who|strong="H0559" turns away|strong="H5595" from|strong="H8085" the|strong="H0853" LORD our|strong="H1961" God|strong="H0559". No one|strong="H3588" should|strong="H3588" go|strong="H1961" and|strong="H8085" serve|strong="H1961" the|strong="H0853" gods of|strong="H1697" the|strong="H0853" other nations. People|strong="H8085" who|strong="H0559" do|strong="H8085" that|strong="H3588" are|strong="H1697" like|strong="H1961" a|strong="H1961" plant that|strong="H3588" grows bitter and|strong="H8085" poisonous fruit.
19 “Some|strong="H0376" people|strong="H0376" might|strong="H3068" hear|strong="H5612" these|strong="H2088" curses|strong="H0423" and|strong="H3068" comfort themselves by|strong="H3068" saying, ‘I|strong="H3588" will|strong="H3068" continue doing what|strong="H2088" I|strong="H3588" want|strong="H0014". Nothing|strong="H3808" bad will|strong="H3068" happen to|strong="H3068" me|strong="H3808".’ But|strong="H3588" that|strong="H3588" attitude will|strong="H3068" bring total|strong="H3605" disaster.
22 “In|strong="H3068" the|strong="H3605" future, your|strong="H3068" descendants and|strong="H3068" foreigners from|strong="H5927" faraway countries|strong="H0776" will|strong="H3068" see|strong="H0834" how|strong="H0834" the|strong="H3605" land|strong="H0776" has|strong="H3068" been|strong="H0834" ruined. They|strong="H0834" will|strong="H3068" see|strong="H0834" the|strong="H3605" diseases that|strong="H0834" the|strong="H3605" LORD|strong="H3068" has|strong="H3068" brought|strong="H5927" to|strong="H3068" it|strong="H2015".
23 All|strong="H3605" the|strong="H3605" land|strong="H0776" will|strong="H3068" be|strong="H3068" useless—destroyed by|strong="H5921" burning sulfur and|strong="H3068" covered with|strong="H3068" salt. The|strong="H3605" land|strong="H0776" will|strong="H3068" have|strong="H0776" nothing|strong="H3605" planted in|strong="H5921" it|strong="H5921". Nothing|strong="H3605" will|strong="H3068" be|strong="H3068" growing—not|strong="H2088" even|strong="H6213" weeds. The|strong="H3605" land|strong="H0776" will|strong="H3068" be|strong="H3068" destroyed like|strong="H0776" Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and|strong="H3068" Zeboiim, the|strong="H3605" cities the|strong="H3605" LORD|strong="H3068" destroyed when|strong="H3068" he|strong="H6213" was|strong="H3068" very|strong="H2088" angry|strong="H0639".
24 “All the|strong="H0853" other nations|strong="H0776" will|strong="H3068" ask|strong="H0559", ‘Why|strong="H0834" did|strong="H0834" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068" do|strong="H3318" this|strong="H0834" to|strong="H0559" this|strong="H0834" land|strong="H0776"? Why|strong="H0834" was|strong="H0834" he|strong="H0834" so|strong="H3318" angry?’
25 The|strong="H0834" answer will|strong="H0430" be|strong="H3808", ‘This|strong="H0834" happened because|strong="H0834" the|strong="H0834" Israelites left the|strong="H0834" agreement of|strong="H0430" the|strong="H0834" LORD, the|strong="H0834" God|strong="H0430" of|strong="H0430" their|strong="H5647" ancestors. They|strong="H0834" stopped following|strong="H0312" the|strong="H0834" agreement he|strong="H0834" made|strong="H3045" with|strong="H3045" them|strong="H5647" when|strong="H0834" he|strong="H0834" brought them|strong="H5647" out|strong="H3045" of|strong="H0430" Egypt.
26 The|strong="H3605" Israelites|strong="H2088" started serving other|strong="H2088" gods—gods they|strong="H5921" never worshiped before|strong="H5921". The|strong="H3605" Lord|strong="H3068" told his|strong="H3605" people|strong="H0776" not|strong="H2088" to|strong="H0935" worship those|strong="H3605" gods.
27 That|strong="H3117" is|strong="H3068" why the|strong="H5921" LORD|strong="H3068" became very|strong="H2088" angry|strong="H0639" with|strong="H0413" the|strong="H5921" people|strong="H0776" of|strong="H0776" this|strong="H2088" land|strong="H0776". So|strong="H2088" he|strong="H3117" brought to|strong="H0413" them|strong="H0413" all|strong="H3117" the|strong="H5921" curses that|strong="H3117" are|strong="H3117" written in|strong="H5921" this|strong="H2088" book.
28 The|strong="H3605" LORD|strong="H3068" became|strong="H1697" very|strong="H5704" angry and|strong="H1121" upset|strong="H1697" with|strong="H3068" them|strong="H0853". So|strong="H6213" he|strong="H5704" took|strong="H0853" them|strong="H0853" out|strong="H3605" of|strong="H1121" their|strong="H3605" land. He|strong="H5704" put them|strong="H0853" in|strong="H0430" another land, where they|strong="H3068" are|strong="H3068" today.’
29 “There are some things that the LORD our God has kept secret. Only he knows these things. But he told us about some things. And these teachings are for us and our descendants forever. And we must obey all the commands in that law.
