1 Now the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested Jesus, asking him to show them a sign from heaven.

2 But he answered them,

4 Then he left them and went away.

5 Whenhis disciples reached the other side of the sea, they realized that they had forgotten to bring bread.

6 Then Jesus said to them,

7 So they discussed this among themselves, saying, “He must have said this because we brought no bread.”

8 Aware of this, Jesus saidto them,

12 Then they understood that he had not told them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,

14 They said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others say that yoʋ are Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 He said to them,

16 Simon Peter answered, “Yoʋ are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

17 And Jesus answered him,

20 Then hecommandedhis disciples to tell no one that he wasJesus the Christ.

21 From that timeJesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised up.

22 So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “God forbid, Lord! This shall certainly not happen to yoʋ.”

23 But he turned around and said to Peter,

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples,
